“just discovered this place and had the absolute pleasure of speaking with DJ. she was so kind and attentive even though it was obvious i would not be walking out with anything. she offered to get shoes for me to try on and showed me how to correctly tie my own running shoes. As an absolute beginner to running she was so sweet explaining how to choose a shoe and other things. Not only that but the encouragement to participate in community activities like the weekly run group was beyond customer service. we need more people in this world like ms DJ.”

When 4 other workers were annoyed by me asking for some assistance in fitting my purchase in to my vehicle! He went above and beyond his job title today and helped me! I am so thankful to him, he made me and my children’s day by his act of kindness.
I understand that they are not obligated to do these things, but working in customer service, is literally to help people in your store!

“When today and I needed pellets for my pellet grill. They must have rearranged the store since the last time i've been in. I guess I looked lost lol. So a worker there, who is in a wheelchair, approached me and asked me if he can help. Not only did the point to the very back wall, he said follow me I'll show you. He literally wheeled himself all the way to the back to the exact section.I was looking for. Then, we started talking about the different seasonings, and he was just a great guy!! So thanks to all the friendly people in Academy and an extra thanks to Jacob. Appreciate you bud!!”
“I came today dead set on a pair of New Balance shoes. Before I could finish helping myself a nice young lady came over and offered help. I don't usually go out of my way to ask. “Elizabeth was very polite and patient. She asked what I was looking for and brought out several options from the back. After trying them on, I choose the best fit. It is awesome to wear a shoe on my left foot again after 3 1/2 years in a cam boot and 4 surgeries. I thought it would be difficult to find shoes with a brace but that was not an issue and I'm happy about that. Will definitely return for another pair once my orthopedic inserts are ready.”
