“This place is like eating at your grandma, when you pop in for half hour lunch between laundrymat chores and post office and say that you’re hungry. If you are lucky enough to get a table during their hours of operation - you must!”

“The professional, friendly, and caring staff all seem to love what they do. They’ve cared for our rescue for about seven years now, during which time they’ve diagnosed and treated an uncommon allergy issue that another vet could not, a collapsed trachea and dental issues. Costs are transparent and reasonable. The facility is clean and accessible. Appointment/in-person wait times are generally short. Though call wait times can often be a bit long, administratively, the clinic is run very well.”

“A place to donate my materials and also pick up up anything that might be needed for renovation. From a stray bucket of mud, old windows that cost thousands to have made, to old doors, Ive gotten awesome deals over the years and love the kind of people who are employed there - helpful and friendly, you won't meet angry staff.. at least I haven't in 13 years. A real service to the community and a greener future.”

“A friend requested that I meet her and her 15month baby girl at the We Play Center for a play date with my 15 month daughter. The Center was a perfect play date experience for my daughter as well as for me. She played with other children around her age in an inviting setting with plenty of toys to interact with her. She choose to explore with the other children which gave my friend and I time have conversation amongst ourselves and other caregivers. All free of charge. I will be visiting we play Center again.”

“I have a cousin that has been in the program for 7 years and I have seen him grow tremendously because of the love and support Sonny and his team have given to him. It’s truly amazing. Easily the most effective organization for youth in New Orleans area. Every city should have one in my opinion.”

“My two Aunts, Alice Margaret Padel and Claire Padel Modenbach started teaching students with disabilities how to sew at this facility. In fact, my Aunt, Alice Padel worked initially for Rutter Rex and then she went on to own her own manufacturing facility on Magazine Street named SegMar. This facility made uniform blouses, fashionable blouses, and dungarees. My Aunt Claire sewed and worked with my Aunt Alice at this facility as well. I lived in Gentilly and every time we had a hurricane, our family went to SegMar and we slept on top the fabric cutting tables. Those cutting tables and sewing machines were donated to Strive by my Aunt Alice. In fact, her photo is on the wall as a Director. I still have many carnival souvenirs that were made by the students who went to school at this facility. Those students who work there are the unsung heroes. This is a wonderful place to get a snack on Mardi Gras weekend. What a great way to show support for those less fortunate. The staff will be friendly, they always are! If you need something put together for carnival, you may hire these students. A WIN/WIN”

“One of the best volunteers I have ever done! Great association, everything is very well organized, as volunteers we are very well received and supported. The accommodation is wonderful. We really feel useful by directly providing a service to people in the neighborhood: essential work on homes and free groceries without conditions on Saturday mornings. We learn a lot about construction and how to repair things from Darren. Long life to the association!!”

“This is an exceptional non-for-profit. I volunteered my spring break to help re-build a house and I had an amazing experience. The locals were so inviting. We put in some long days installing floors and landscaping. It was definitely a life changing experience. I would highly recommend volunteering with them.”

“Care was fine, but that I went for follow-up was extremely unnecessary, as I was made to believe I would receive a treatment that the provider then recommended against once I got there.”

“I went to TCA to prevent disconnection at 5:30pm the day before my electricity was due to go off and TCA paid the entire bill which was $1557. They close at 6pm ; TCA pledged the entire bill amount and I was out of the office before they closed. I was at the location for 15 minutes MAX. Thanks TCA for preventing my electricity to go off AND paying the ENTIRE bill.”

“Found the perfect desk that I've been needing for my home office. Solid wood, in impeccable condition, priced at $65, but they were taking 50% off all furniture, so it only cost me $32.50 The floor sales associate was very polite and helpful --very professional. Same with the cashier and the guys in the back. All of them showed excellent service skills, stemming -I'm sure- from a genuine desire to make a positive difference for their customers. Highly recommended!”
