Grocery Stores
“Where do I begin?? Amazingly eye-catching! I really appreciate finding jewels like this in the community.
Food co-op Glut is a MUST VISIT!!!
I went to ACTUALLY buy just sugar, and was overwhelmed (in a good way, like a kid in a candy store) with options!
Prices are absolutely reasonable. I buy organic raw cane in the grocery store all the time, and I know a deal when I come across it!
On my next visit to Glut, I'll remember to bring my basket & containers for my bought supplies.
Next time you're in northeast DC to southwest MD check it out! You won't be disappointed!!”
“I've gone here for years, never had any problems with the person on either side of the store. Everything is reasonably priced for a small business. They have services where you're able to send money to people in other countries. Staff are nice, and it's conveniently right in front of a bus station.”
“This isn't closed. We passed by this evening drawn by condensation in the windows, which turned out to mean they had just been baking bread. We got a fresh wheel of selam ambasha for $5 and it was delicious. They also have assorted Eritrean spices but we're going back for the bread, next time we see the tell-tale condensation in the windows.”
“I love this store, its very well stocked and the staff is very friendly. They recently reorganized the store and put in a new floor. More times than not, I find everything I want.”
“If you're looking for a true community hub with amazing prices, this is it. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, but the shelves are fully stocked with East African staples like lentils, specialty teas, and even tej (honey wine). I loved the smell of freshly brewed arabic tea the second I walked in. It’s clearly a favorite for locals, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Great value for authentic products you just can’t find at a standard grocery store.”
