“Huge selection of international foods. Great seafood bar.! The only down side is you have to pay$1 for bags. Huge parking lot. Great customer service. Just take your own bags.”
“I loved it, the music, the staff great!!!! People always talk bad about save alot. Well people need to stop listening to people ? Save Alot was GREAT!!! CLEAN!! STAFF PROFESSIONAL!!! GET MY 5 STARS!!!!!”
“Pleasantly surprised but the store items were stocked and the store staff was present. I had to scan my receipt to exit the self checkout area. That was a first!”
“I honestly have 0 complaints about the staff that works there currently, HOWEVER the “powers that be” over the store manager should feel ashamed. The higher ups should come in on a day where it’s a busy truck day to see why product gets out slower than normal. The age limit is already 21 and Maryland already underpays for minimum wage. The problem is not the location or the employees. The PROBLEM IS ANYONE other than the hiring manager(they can only do but so much!). The higher ups need to come in to make some changes, SERIOUSLY.I love coming to this location because they have everything a person could need, but how could anyone stay if there if a lack of staff and funds? If you all need employees, then think about getting rid of nicotine items. It’s a lot of kids that need jobs. Plus in the Oxon Hill area you can buy nicotine within a mile away from the next spot.Sorry if I came off mean, but ahout out to ALL the workers at the Oxon Hill location, the one near Oxon Hill High School! Everyone is so nice, helpful, and makes me feel wanted to shop. Please reward this location!!!”
“I go here seasonally out of tradition for certain items.....they are overpriced on a lot of items. But that is everywhere nowadays....I don't like them forcing you to buy their grocery bags...even if you bring your own! You don't have to buy bags if you have your own....makes no sense....so if you bring their bags back to use do you still get charged!!! Ridiculous...going to report this practice. Check your items before purchase. They do have some items that I cannot find at other stores.”
“Quick grab & go merchandise such as cheddar & shredded cheeses, Ken's Balsamic Dressing, Grandma Dutch Brownie Cookies & Rock Creek Ginger Ale, Strawberry & Peach Sodas but I'll pass on buying the last 2 flavors cause it was only carbonated Kool Aid with 3+ the sugar.”
“It seems like my parents and I have been shopping here regularly for many years. We go here as a supplement to our regular grocery shopping to buy the Filipino goodies we can't find at the grocery, like sweet spaghetti sauce, certain seafood, and pan de sal that puts most American dinner rolls to shame. My favorite part of the store is the unit you see immediately upon entering the store. It is directly across the cash register. On that unit, they usually put out delicious take-away foods for sale. It's like going to one of those hot food bars at the grocery except it's all Filipino food. We like picking up palabok and BBQ sticks to save for dinner. There are also other take-away selections, some of which you pick out and pack yourself potluck-style. For me personally, my favorites are the pastries. The selections change but I look forward to when they have the mixed puto (not the big slices but the little cupcake-sized variety puto of different colors inside the tin pans), the Spanish bread, and hopia. By reading the labels on each product on the aforementioned unit, you can see that this inventory is obtained from different vendors. My favorite pastries come from Christine's Bake Shop in New Jersey. This store just recently started selling Christine's products (at least I'd never noticed it before). The best product from Christine's is the pineapple hopia. Christine's also sells these "snack pack"-style items -- for example, if you don't feel like getting a whole bag of pan de sal, you can get varieties of Christine's breads sold in twos. My favorite is the ube pan de sal: two generously sized bread rolls with a delicious ube center. Take these home and pop them in the microwave for 15-20 seconds. The ube center tastes so good warm although you can enjoy this snack right out of the wrapper too. Folks should know that this little market is pretty much a bodega, an independent small business version of something like a 7-11. So it's very unassuming and solidly middle class. We shop here on Sundays and sometimes we see folks still dressed up from church. A prior review of this store here on Yelp lamented that the cashier on duty at the time was not very conversational. My rebuttal to this is that one should manage their expectations when patronizing a mom and pop business of any variety. Sometimes you'll get service from chatty staff, sometimes you won't. This is a specialty store, not a general market, and honestly your best bet is to purchase what interests you; if you didn't quite find what you were looking for, you could chance making conversation with the staff to talk it out -- or simply make a polite exit. Read the room. I hope this store continues selling products from Christine's bakery. My runner up is Berkeley bakery, which I believe is also based in New Jersey. I highly recommend the Spanish bread from Berkeley bakery.”
“It works. I worked at the KMart when I was a teen. I knew this Tatget wouldn't be huge but it serves ita purpose although it's a hit or miss sometimes with merch. They do have groceries and all that. I even got a big kettle bell from there. I get meat there too and it's GOOD! I wish it were bigger but they worked with what they had. The employees are nice too.”
“Dollar General has been the only store that still sells the 5 pack miniature candy (Snickers, Almond Joy, Reese's Cup, Mr. Goodbar, York Peppermint Patties), all costing $1.00 a pack. This store was clean, stocked with merchandise, the cashiers were very pleasant and answered my question when I asked if they participated in the OTC program. I did not get a chance to compare prices to other products and merchandise, but I will do so on my next visit. I was very pleased with my visit. I travel by public transportation on the P12 (Eastover) or D12 (Suitland) from Southern Avenue Metro Station.”
“These five stars are primarily for the store manager, John Wallace.
We love the chicken at Royal Farms! We've tried the chicken at several different locations and the Oxen Hill location by far has the best consistency and flavor.
Unfortunately the past two visits they were out of drummies and were not in the process of cooking more - which they are supposed to have all the kinds available in the middle of the day, when we stopped by. One time is forgivable - things happen and we don't know if they had a rush before we came in. Two times is a pattern. We wrote a note to the manager, John Wallace, and he called the next day and said he would address the issue and made it right with us. In a time where customer service is seemingly a lost art, we were incredibly impressed.”
“Like shopping at ALDI has variety of seled items reasonably priced. But lately, I notice the store is dirty not kept clean food items out of place. Where is the manager? and why they can't see the MESS. Needs to do better or I will discontinued shopping at the Oxen Hill store.”
