“Let’s face it, hardware is hardware, but great service is another thing! I go to Hillside for their extremely knowledgeable, attentive and friendly employees, that and the bitchin’ antique radio playing cool jazz! I live close enough to three other similar stores (2 are Ace & arguably more convenient) but I chose to go to Hillside because Tom, the manager & Jerry, the owner (no cartoon jokes!!) take the time to help me sort out what I need for projects and products. And when I’ve had to return items, I’ve never had to justify myself. The whole staff carries the same helpful, relaxed attitude and it’s obvious that’s something that’s instilled from the top down! Harder to find these days than a left-handed smoke shifter! (You’ll find one in Aisle 2 in the plumbing section in the basement BTW)”
“We love this place. A nice old-fashioned hardware store with a good selection of quality hand tools, fasteners, electrical and lights, kitchen, plumbing, etc. Of course it can't compete with a big-box for sheer inventory, but atmosphere, friendly dogs, new toy section, and quality service make it our first (and often only) stop on any hardware shopping trip. Unlike at an impersonal big-box store, Wanda is always willing and able to help decide exactly what fastener or part I need for any odd job.”
“Great company, highly recommend! We've had our snowblower and lawnmower repaired by them for many years. They have a pickup and delivery service, which is extremely helpful. Recently they fixed our snowblower for a very reduced price when it didn't work at the beginning of this winter, after having been serviced by them at the end of last winter, which we hugely appreciated.”
