Macy's Backstage is a large, multi-level department store in Downtown Boston, considered by some to be the nicest in the area. The store offers a wide variety of items, including summer clothing, boots, perfumes, kitchenwares, luggage, and other bulky household items. There is a substantial men's collection with plenty of different options, noted as being better than other locations. The store is spaced out nicely across three levels and features a Starbucks on the first floor. The shopping experience, however, is described as mixed. The store maintains a classic department store feel, but the interior appears unchanged for decades, featuring beaten-up décor, drab lighting, and sometimes empty sections. While the staff in some departments, like shoes, is excellent, helpful, and multilingual, service in other areas like clothing can be slow, with very few clerks available. The overall shopping energy is reported to be gone, with sparse clientele and a downbeat, sometimes depressing atmosphere. Despite this, it remains a dependable place for many, with a great selection in various departments and items available at both expensive and affordable price points. The store also continues a tradition of holiday displays, though at a reduced scale from its past.

While on vacation, I stopped by to go shopping for my dad. Without a doubt the men's department is way better than some of the other Macy's stores I have visited locally where I live. The men's collection was way more substantial with plenty of different options.

I been shopping here for many years! There's a great selection in various departments to choose from. Macy's will always be a classic great department store!
