“Service Like Nowhere Else: I needed a part for my obsolete Weber grill that belonged to my late father in law. Kevin Button located the obsolete part for me and even explained exactly how to install it properly. Installed right and the grill fires like a champ!
Customer for over 40 years-but Kevin did not know that. He was just doing what they all do there-treating every customer like they are important.
Thank you, O’Connor’s!”
“Best one of a kind hardware store in Metro west. Service cannot be better. I find it even better than Harvey’s Hardware that was my go to for over 40 years. A lot of the employees went to Green’s when Harvey’s closed.”
“It's so nice to go into a real store, and there's helpful friendly staff, and things I need are in stock and I can get them right away. If you have the choice between ordering it online and buying it here, I suggest you shop here. The key cutting service is particularly useful.”
“I had a wonderful experience working with Shawn and Tommy. I needed to replace a bulb in my microwave oven. After finding the appropriate part, both men were able to assemble and disassemble the outside, and insert the new part after some drilling and replacement of screws. They were cool, calm and collected during the whole ordeal and never appeared rushed. Thank you to everyone at the store, I will visit again soon!Susan LundstromLexington, MA”
“Highly knowledgeable and friendly employees. Stocks many items for a small store. Accepts cards and cash. Street parking is available in the heart of Inman Square. Small aisles.”
“Friendly and professional service. I appreciated that someone greeted me right when I walked in and that he helped me find what I needed. The cashier was also kind and helpful when I called ahead to check inventory. This is traditional customer service done right.”
“New to town and I haven’t had a local hardware store available to me in years. Saved me a 45 minute round trip drive to Lowes because I needed some very long screws. Friendly and helpful - happy to support this local business whenever I can.”
“Model Ace Hardware is amazing, what sets it apart is the staff who are always available to answer questions and help you find what you need. They are always patient and knowledgeable to help me figure out the best way to do a diy project.”
“Since we lived in Firestone Park in the 90s, I almost always go to this Ace Hardware. But about a year ago when I needed some screws that would go into concrete, I was in the Falls and stopped into Menards "to save time". The customer service representative was eager please but had zero knowledge about what I was asking or where to find that type of screw. We wasted at least 20 minutes. So I left straight from there and came to Ace hardware in Firestone Park, and they knew exactly what I needed and suggested a drill bit that ended up being perfect for my needs. They have always been highly knowledgeable, helpful, and the prices are great.Don't waste your time anywhere else ?”
“Great company, highly recommend! We've had our snowblower and lawnmower repaired by them for many years. They have a pickup and delivery service, which is extremely helpful. Recently they fixed our snowblower for a very reduced price when it didn't work at the beginning of this winter, after having been serviced by them at the end of last winter, which we hugely appreciated.”
“Let’s face it, hardware is hardware, but great service is another thing! I go to Hillside for their extremely knowledgeable, attentive and friendly employees, that and the bitchin’ antique radio playing cool jazz! I live close enough to three other similar stores (2 are Ace & arguably more convenient) but I chose to go to Hillside because Tom, the manager & Jerry, the owner (no cartoon jokes!!) take the time to help me sort out what I need for projects and products. And when I’ve had to return items, I’ve never had to justify myself. The whole staff carries the same helpful, relaxed attitude and it’s obvious that’s something that’s instilled from the top down! Harder to find these days than a left-handed smoke shifter! (You’ll find one in Aisle 2 in the plumbing section in the basement BTW)”
“Love Ace! They always smile when I come in and are never bugged by my endless questions about what to get for my various DIY projects. They have a great selection across the board.”
“A great family owned business. Excellent service and knowledgeable staff put them head and shoulders above every other hardware store. Since they are affiliated with True Value, the prices are good also as they buy in bulk with the big dogs.”
“I no longer go to one of the big box stores when I need something quickly around the house…this neighborhood hardware store reminds me of going to the hardware store with my father as a kid: it always has what you need and someone bends over backwards to help you—always with a smile on his/her face.”
“I didn't catch his name, but the lovely gentleman at the front saved my kayaking adventure. The lock I have securing the kayak to my roof failed, so I came in for bolt cutters. When he heard what I needed them for he came out and got the job done! They may have lost a small sale, but have gained a big fan!”
“Good tools at great prices. I always check here before buying new. The owner is a friendly guy who knows his stuff and is always willing to help. Parking can be a bit of a pain but it is worth it.”
“I had such a great experience at this store today. I went in to buy bolt cutters because I had accidentally put a padlock on backwards, rendering it unable to be unlocked. The gentleman managing the store could have easily sold me the bolt cutters, but instead helped me problem solve and ended up cutting down the key so I was able to successfully unlock the padlock. He was incredibly helpful and generous- I am very grateful!”
“Very convenient now that Harvy's Hardware is gone. It's a small store but they always seem to have what I am looking for.......AND they rewired my beloved table lamp for a very reasonable price. Complements to "Drake" for helping me with that.”
“I've been here 3 or 4 times since moving to JP, and every time I've been struck by how nice everyone who works there is. Very approachable and always willing to help me find things. I've also always found what I needed here, which is great! Highly recommend.”
“This hardware store has the absolute most cheerful and helpful employees. They've never failed to give me good advice on a project (when I ask). They even allowed me to return a partially opened product that didn't work out. A+++++ service.”
“I had to run to this Ace store to grab some outlet adapters and Dan was so helpful and sweet about helping me find exactly what I needed. 10/10 customer service and great attitude. Would recommend anyone to come here and work with Dan!”
“I had a very specific request for a nut and bolt (to fix a blade on my hockey skate) and the staff inside this Ace Hardware store couldn’t have been more helpful. It was a $0.30 fix but the associate, Mark, spent the time with me to make sure that I was all set, found the right size to fit and even helped me fix my skate. If that’s not above and beyond for service I don’t know what is. Thank you!!”
“I needed an inducer fan for my Goodman furnace . I called the company that I bought the furnace from, but for some stupid reason they could not get the part for me. I called Johnstone in Woburn MA and they had the part in stock. Ryan and the branch manager Brad Esposito were very helpful at Johnstone:”
“Coolidge Hardware is our go to place when we want professional service and need high quality products. We have been going to Coolidge Hardware for over 30 years for high quality paint, paint brushes, hardware (screws, locks, keys...) and advice. I once brought a small chip off of an old wall we were repairing, and they were able to match the paint EXACTLY. Always professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful!”
“One doesn’t expect much going into a hardware store but I was blown away by how nice of an experience I had at this location. My boyfriend and I were immediately greeted upon entry and we were quickly guided to the section we needed. We browsed the store and were once again greeted to see if we needed anything, but not pressured. When we arrived at the checkout line, there was one person being rung up and despite us having no problem waiting another 30 seconds to be rung up, another friendly employee offered to ring us up right away. He let us know about the freshly smoked hot dogs they were offering! After checking out, we came to a booth with two different flavors of mini dogs and were told we could take as many as we liked. They were so delicious! The staff serving them were incredibly friendly as well. We left the store in a great mood and highly impressed by the level of service. Thank you so much!”
“We have been renovating an old home over the last few years and the final project was a complete kitchen redo. Eric Rikeman from Adams Kitchen came up with an excellent design, that changed the layout to one that is modern, efficient, and smart looking. The quality of the cabinets is outstanding and the installation was expertly done. We actually had Eric and his team come back recently and do some custom cabinetry in our dining room to match the kitchen. I very highly recommend Adams Kitchens and Eric Rikeman.”
“A model for what a local hardware store should be. Staffed by a mix of adults who know exactly how to help you. They also employ local kids who are usually pretty helpful, though they are just teenagers so manage your expectations! They are kids working a first job, and I see a lot of people (both in the store and on Yelp) mistake inexperience with rudeness. Selection is good for a local place, though more niche items may require a trip to a larger place. Importantly, they do not carry much of anything in terms of wood and lumber, though they have a decent power tool section, including Craftsman, Milwaukee, and Stihl. Painting, plumbing, hand tools, grilling, house care, yard care, and screws are examples of the areas they cover pretty well. Value is good as well, matching or beating that of places like Lowes or HD, and Ace is a local mainstay.”
“Excellent and responsive staff. They helped me with my bathtub order including giving me a phone call ASAP once the tub was delivered so it could be picked up. John G went out of his way to help me with invoicing/accounting. I really appreciate your help! Thank you!”
“I pre-ordered my lawnmower online and it was ready for pick-up on time. It was assembled there, free of charge, and the employees were knowledgeable and answered my questions.”
