Detroit K-9 Pet Supplies
14114 E Warren Ave, DetroitVery cool local franchise with solid inventory of choices. Dog and cat food mainly, they do have other supplies. Lots of extras and services available, worth looking around, reading signage, and definitely asking questions.
While there are a few kibble brands I don't find there, they have several I do like. And with a loyalty program between the stores, it makes my life a bit easier.

Pet Grooming

Detroit Dog Salon
10107 W Seven Mile Rd, DetroitOMG this lady knows what she's doing. My dog was super matted and the groomers at the chain pet store wouldn't touch him until a vet shaved his ears first because of the high risk and in this case inevitability of a hematoma. The vet said they would have to sedate him and it could take upwards of 4 hours costing over $600. I was stuck because it had to be done. Luckily a nurse at the vet suggested this place and she worked a miracle without sedating him and it only took an hour at a cost of $90. What impressed me most was I never told her what the vet said yet she repeated all the same issues I was facing letting me know that she knew as much (or more as it turns out in this case) than the vet. I wish I had taken before and after pictures but I can show what came off his ears without any hematoma.
You need to know she is cash and cash app only and cash app is an additional $5 which makes sense for a small biz as credit card fees can really add up and eat into profits. I'm posting a Pic of what we thought were matted ears but none of it was his ears . I'll also post an after pic so you can see his actual ears.
On a scale of 0-5 stars, I'd give her 10+! Sorry I don't remember their names, there were 2 ladies, I believe just one was the owner but they were both awesome.

Pet Sitting & Training

My Sidekick Dog Training
4444 Lawton St, DetroitMy dog, Zef, n I came to see Ash for help with reactivity. Ash has taught us some unique approaches, collaborative care being the one that I have enjoyed the most. Zef is terrified of the vet, and that paired with his aggression, made going to the vet a highly stressful experience for us that I avoid at all costs. We trained with collaborative care pretty religiously to prepare for an annual vet visit and I am happy to report that with the support of medication, Zef was able to sit between my legs and consent to a shot from the vet without drama!

Brewery Faisan
1087 Beaufait St, DetroitBrewery Faisan is a pretty cool place. It’s located in a renovated industrial type of building, and the space across the street is all green space now. It’s like a little island in a somewhat worn down area. The interior is very comfortable with plenty of tables and a bar, and the atmosphere is relaxed with lots of light wood tones. There is some outdoor seating too, but the inside sounded better on my visit. Their beer selection had something for all palates, and I tried a little bit of their tripel and their Italian pils. Both were good and had no off flavors, so I was happy with the beer. I bought several cans to go, and I was thrilled to find out you can buy singles, so it’s easy to sample a lot. The King Eider Belgian dubbel was my favorite so far, and it’s a very drinkable version of that style. You should definitely give this brewery a try if you’re able to.

1145 Griswold St, DetroitPrime + Proper exceeded every expectation. Totally glad we chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional, and the food was absolutely incredible. Every dish was cooked to perfection! The steaks were flavorful, tender, and easily some of the best we’ve ever had. The sides, appetizers, and desserts were just as impressive, making the entire dining experience unforgettable.
What truly made the evening stand out though was Lawrence, the manager. He was absolutely amazing. His professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care for every guest were evident throughout the entire night. It’s rare to find someone who runs a restaurant with such pride and excellence. He made us feel genuinely welcomed and ensured everything was perfect from start to finish.
Because of Lawrence’s outstanding hospitality and the phenomenal quality of the food, we will absolutely be dining here again. Prime + Proper has earned loyal customers, and we can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend!
