“This was one of those days. Came home from an errand to discover my garage door opener (the old fashioned kind that clips to one's sun visor) didn't work. No big deal, right? Take it apart, see what battery it needs, and walla. But instead of that happening, the thing went into 5 (counting a battery) separate pieces and I couldn't even get it back together and didn't have a battery. Called Gill-Roy's Hardware in Frankenmuth and they said bring it in! Took it in right away and it took a very competent experienced guy (didn't get any names) a few tries to put it together. This made me feel not as stupid as I was feeling. He checked out the one that hadn't worked and my spare -- put a fresh battery in both and I drove home, tried both out and now I had the walla moment. Thanks, Gillroys, for your fast and friendly help and fixing something that had felt like it was turning into an aggravating problem. Thanks for being open on Sunday. Thanks for picking up the phone. And thanks for the very nicest person who fixed things! (Happily there are no photos or videos of any of this.)”

“As a woman who loves DIY projects but doesn’t always have the experience or expertise to match my ambition, I can’t say enough good things about this hardware store. Every time I walk in with a project that may be a little above my skill level, the employees take the time to answer my questions, offer advice, and help me find what I need. What stands out most is that they are never condescending. Instead, they are encouraging, patient, and genuinely invested in helping me succeed. They often offer safety tips and express concern for my well-being, not in a way that feels patronizing, but in a way that reflects a true sense of community and care. I always leave feeling more confident than when I arrived. It’s rare to find a place where beginners are welcomed, supported, and empowered to learn. This store has become one of my favorite places because the people there make me feel capable, encouraged, and excited to tackle my next project.”

“We needed some cable connectors and buckets we were met by friendly helpful staff upon arrival. They were not pushy and let us shop but also made it known they were there to help. While the prices were a little bit higher than larger stores it was a savings in fuel and time. I would rather spend my money locally so I don’t mind a little bit of an increase to stay local. I am glad to see they got some dewalt products in as well. We will be back in the future!”

“I got home from work around 8pm and my furnace wasn't working, it was freezing in my home. I called the after hours number and Kendall said he'd come out and was here in 30 minutes or less. He fixed my issue and I now have heat! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Kendall is very experienced with what he does and explained everything to me that I needed to know, friendly and professional!! I will never call anyone else!!”

“I woke up to no power this morning and water in my basement (again!). I needed supplies quickly and the entire city of Vassar was without power. However, the Vassar Building Center, Inc. was open and I was met with a smile and a warm greeting. Josh took me to the supplies I needed and then I was rung up. In and out quickly and felt like my urgent issue was their top priority. I cannot recommend giving them as much of your business as you can. One of the best businesses I have ever known, with the BEST staff to help everyone who walks in their doors. Thank you Mike and everyone else. I’m always grateful for you and your team!”

“Love my store in Birch Run. The Manager, Darrell is a really good dude. But most importantly, I can load up what I need and be on my way in 5 minutes vs. the hour I’d burn going to any other place.”
