“From the moment we walked in we knew this was going to be a perfect stay. We were greeted by Michel, the guest manager, everything Detroit aficionado, raconteur and all around cool guy. Conversation always followed, like he was our longtime friend. Made time there fun, indeed. We stayed downstairs in the Holly room which was perfect for us. Clean, quiet, friendly staff and continental breakfast to start the day, all at a good price. We stayed for five nights. Location is excellent for walking and close to lots of activity. We know where we will be staying next time in town.”

“Our group hosts a conference for 75 people in different cities each year. In 2025 we had a fantastic time at the Cambria Hotel Detroit Downtown! Communication leading up to the conference was attentive and professional, food was creative and plentiful, rooms were clean and well-tended. The level of service, from sales to front office to food and beverage, was IMPECCABLE. Each department head greeted us and checked in throughout the week; the staff recognized us and treated everyone as friends. We were so pleased and can't recommend the Cambria enough.”

“I truly enjoyed my stay at the Southfield Hampton Inn! It was very clean with spacious rooms and offered many amenities like fresh coffee and tea, delicious breakfast, outside patio, indoor pool, gym, and other seating areas for working, eating, relaxing, etc. The staff was incredible, friendly and always aiming for guest satisfaction. I did not want to leave my cozy king size bed (lol) and will definitely be back. Thank you for a joyful visit!”

“I feel compelled to write a five star review because the kindness and flexibility of the staff here completely made my stay. I arrived three hours before check in and was able to do early check in. I forgot my toothbrush and toothpaste and they provided it for me. After my stay I checked out I wanted to go to the Detroit Institute of Arts and go to Dally in the Alley- didn’t wanna take my bags. So they kept them. These seem like simple asks, but it was how the staff communicated and made me feel was a stand out. I loved hanging out by the Siren Cafe/lobby, loved the cafe drinks. I didn’t even get to go to the bar because I was so busy! This hotel is worth coming back to because of location and service. I wrote four stars for the room because they are chic and comfortable but definitely restored from being an older building. Small things like a new paint job and some better art curation in rooms could really make this place standout aesthetically like their lobby floor does. Hotel is near shopping and restaurants and many things to do. I never had a problem getting a ride share either. At night traffic around can get busy. This hotel is exceptional for a solo stay, girls trip, romantic getaway. I probably wouldn’t take my under ten year old with me, it’s not adults only, but the spaces reflect adult space. Thank you Siren Hotel for making my stay so lovely.”

“In the spare of time I needed to crash some place and decided to come here. No lie I asked was the room good enough for 83 bucks he said it’s good and showed me some pictures. I said okay… I went into the room just for the day and ended up staying more days than I thought… rooms is very clean and so is the bathroom! I can’t stand a nasty bathroom at the rooms! Bed is very comfortable highly recommend. For the price and service it’s definitely worth it. My guy always looks out for me. They take pride into these rooms and clean like it’s their home.”

“So, where do I start? I’m a Detroit native, born and raised, though I moved away about 15 years ago. When I come home, I usually stay in Southfield avoiding the downtown hustle. But this time, since Marriott partnered with MGM, I gave MGM Grand Detroit a shot. In all my time, I’d never stayed there before. I booked as a Platinum Marriott member, and I always expect stellar service Marriott never lets me down. Yet, I was still wowed. From the valet getting my car in an instant to the warm greeting at check-in. Mierra and her Manager Miesha at the front desk was an absolute gem. The room I was provided was above and beyond my expectations.The room was so gorgeous I wanted to extend my stay or at least ensure a smooth transition into another room after my planned early morning departure. Here’s where we pivot 100 stars for the front desk team they set a bar on how to make someone feel valued. I left thinking I’d stay at more MGM hotels based on that experience. But when I went to the casino side (following a small misunderstanding on extending my stay), I encountered the opposite with Cijay. It became a masterclass in how not to treat a customer, repeatedly stressing I didn’t belong in certain spaces. Despite my Marriott Platinum status, I was made to feel like an intruder because on that side I wasn't considered VIP which was factual and actually ok but it was the way she took my license as if she was about to have me displaced because she didn't want me in that room. I even kept telling her it wasn't an issue I could just go back down to the hotel desk I may have misunderstood my instruction to talk to them. But her mission in that moment was to make sure I knew while welcome by Marriott I held zero value in her eyes. Even down to her I can't see you were platinum status. ( even if you couldn't treating someone kind shouldn't require status)That could have ruined the trip if not for the excellence of that front desk crew. Can I reiterate they alone are the reason I would book again and again. I was ok moving to another room I just wanted to be able to do it before leaving for a funeral which is why i came to town. She didn't care about that she made me feel as if I was trying to get over. In the end, I’m writing this review because the Marriott side reminded me what true service looks like. Cijay, frankly, needs a course in how to value all guests. I will give it another try that is for sure.”

Jennifer coordinated every single detail leading up to and during the event, ensuring everything ran effortlessly from start to finish. On a weekend where there are so many moving parts, having someone as organized, attentive, and calm as Jennifer made all the difference. She took care of every little thing so we could actually relax and just enjoy mingling with our friends and family. The service, the atmosphere, and the entire experience were top-tier. If you’re looking for a gorgeous venue for a welcome party or any wedding weekend event, The Daxton Hotel and Jennifer are the absolute best!”

“I’ve stayed at a lot of properties over the years, and while clean rooms and comfortable beds are expected, what separates an average hotel from one you genuinely look forward to returning to is the people. The Detroit Marriott Southfield gets that right. The rooms have always been clean, well\-maintained, and the beds are consistently comfortable. The same-day laundry service has honestly been a game changer for someone traveling on business for extended stay. But the real reason I’ll keep coming back is the staff. Jade at the front desk deserves special recognition. She is, without question, one of the best hospitality professionals I’ve ever encountered. Friendly, professional, proactive, and genuinely invested in making guests feel welcome, she sets the standard for what exceptional customer service should look like. Jordan in Guest Services is another standout who consistently makes every interaction easy and enjoyable. A huge thank you as well to Greg and the entire housekeeping team for keeping everything spotless, Diamond and Latasha in the bar for making evenings enjoyable after long workdays, Whitney for expertly coordinating large events, and Mr. Darrell, who is always dependable, punctual, and a pleasure to see. Could I nitpick? Sure. I’d love to see better coffee, but that is easy to overlook when you’re surrounded by people who genuinely care about doing their jobs well and making guests feel valued. At the end of the day, hotels are buildings. It’s the people inside them who create the experience. This team has turned a place to stay into a place I genuinely enjoy coming back to. Thank you to everyone at the Detroit Marriott Southfield for making every stay feel like I’m being welcomed back instead of just checked in.”

“Two evenings ago I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott in Dearborn, Michigan. It has been completely updated, is spotlessly clean and is thoroughly modernized. However, the reason to stay at this property, or any Marriott property, is because of employees like the afternoon-evening shift manager, Shontel. Shontel professionally, courteously and personably - with individual attention answering individual questions - checked in a host of arriving guests within a short period of time. The culture of this Courtyard by Marriott continued with a friendly greeting by a young lady in housekeeping as I walked to my room. I returned to the lobby later that evening to purchase a light snack at the Bistro, and Shontel was serving double duty as the desk receptionist and Bistro cook! The food was great, and I joked she had a future as a chef. It turns out she had worked as head cook at a nursing home before joining Marriott. Discussion continued with what led most of the guests to this Courtyard (corporate visitors), but her favorite times were serving returning Wounded Warrior groups. As she continued towards the front desk, I told her I hoped she would get off shift soon. She laughed, held up a book on Gothic Literature and said she would likely be up late studying to complete her BA degree in Communications at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Shontel’s service in all capacities of her life is a credit to Marriott International, Inc., and to all young people of America. Well done.”

“I am a Bonvoy member and stay at Marriott often. This was my 1st visit to Detroit. I had some mishaps during check in and subsequent interactions with the front desk. The assistant manager figured everything out and came through. My frustration level was mounting at one point and I had to explain the situation to several teammates Several great points: 1. Perfect location 2. Coachable staff 3. Excellent housekeepers on 19th floor, i didn't get her name but she was very helpful 4. Location was secured at night 5. On site dining options I don't expect perfection from people, so I showed some grace. Next time I'm in Detroit, I will love to be a guest again.”

“We arrived for check in at 4, and the line to the counter was about 45 minutes to check in. This is the worst way to welcome your guests at a hotel. The furniture in the lobby is quite nice and the vibe took the edge off of having to wait, and there was a very nice staff member offering to check bags in if any guests wanted to drop their belongings off and come back when the check in desk was less busy. The corner room we got was clean and updated and honestly better than I anticipated. The location is great if you're looking to be out and about but please don't reserve this on a weekend thinking you're going to get R&R. There's a constant engine revving on the streets below from guys who think they're auditioning for the next fast and furious movie. It went until at least midnight.”
