“As a kid who grew up on sci-fi this is the coolest book shop ever. Its even better, full of movie props and posters. The range of horror to sci-fi is crazy. One of the best collections I've ever seen. Its an amazing place that any fan of the macabre will feel right at home. Support your local independent book stores.”
“Not only is this a cute bookshop, but the STAFF!! They are so knowledgeable and willing to help. Their book recommendations always hit the spot I was looking for. Everyone here loves to read and it makes me so happy!”
“Dream Haven Books & Comics has all the fantasy/sci fi/adventure/horror you never heard of before walking in. Tons and tons of packed rows of books, including ones that are out of print, or signed by the author.”
“This is a great little metaphysical shop. Wide selection of books, herbs, and treasures. There is also Tarot and Oracle readings available at the back table. There is also a classroom that is used for various classes. I highly recommend the classes.”

“I visited this store today and was instantly in awe! Jess was amazing and was super knowledgeable. I couldn’t believe the selection! I will definitely be back!”
“A nice person helped me and ordered some stuff for me. Everyone was nice and the store was clean and well in order. Can't ask for anything more from a book store honestly.”
“I hope this local bookstore continues to stay open after so many other good places in the area have closed through the years. Love coming in here. You can expect to pay the full price for your book unlike at a used bookstore or online, but it’s worth it. They also sell journals and puzzles.”
“One of my favorite bookstores in the world - the combination of the breadth in the used collection and the intensely queer viewpoint of the curation make this absolutely hit my sweet spot”
“Awesome book store. The selection was amazing, everything from graphic novels to rare book editions to modern popular titles. I got an awesome 4th edition of The Electric Kool.Aid Acid Tests and a signed, hardback Joe R Landsdale novel (Hap and Leonard)”
“Has an incredible selection of books, kind staff, and just a generally nice atmosphere. Hosts fun events for all kinds of interests. Inclusive space and content for all ages and reading levels.”
“Cozy and wonderful store with an interesting selection. Meeting Nat and Zoro (bunny) was an added bonus. We will return on future trips to Minneapolis; in the meantime, we'll use the online store.”
“This is perhaps the most precious bookshop I have visited. It is cozy and welcoming and so much thought and effort has gone into all the little details. From the inviting kids area to the beautifully crafted and themed shelf talkers with blurbs about select titles. I will absolutely be back any time I'm in St Paul.”

“Cozy and personal, this bookstore was a delight to go in! Loved the handwritten notes on shelves from customers and staff giving recommendations or thoughts on the books they've read. The lady behind the counter was so thoughtful and kind -- she knew so many of the books by heart and was amazing at helping me find a book to fit my wants. She was also ridiculously sweet to my daughter, who was celebrating her birthday that day!”
“Books? YES! Multiple different genres? YES! Coffee and pastries? YES! Fun and cute local art in the form of stickers, mugs, candles, and vending machine? YES YES AND YES! Need a date night book gift? They have it!
Super cute and quiet bookstore! Will definitely recommend!
Added a few photos of different books that caught my interest along with the fun vending machine and candle.”
“My buddy has cancer. Thanks to this place it seems that my friend has had some reduction of cancer in his lungs. I didn't say it cured him but it slowed down the process...cats claw! Go see this guy who works his potions right in the store. Tha k you man for what you do. Staff is friendly too.”
“Great tarot reading from Wildstar! It had been many years since my last experience with tarot readings done by others, which had been wildly inaccurate. Wildstar let me choose from many decks, thoroughly explained each card and its relationship to others, and even took pictures for me so I could recall the experience whenever I need to be reminded of the suggestions from the reading! I'll be back next time I have a question on which I need guidance from the Universe!”

“What a place! There was a wonderful blend of new & used books, including entire series but at used prices! I left with several books and a T-shirt, I'll be back.”
“Well stocked and airy. Convenient to order online for pickup. Google Maps may give you as poor of directions as it gave me to get to the front door, but there is a parking lot with plenty of space and some street parking nearby as well. You can turn into the lot from either direction on Ford, though it is easiest if you're driving westward (toward the river).”
“Best place to by books, movies, games, I've found Awsome movies, found great seasons of my favorite shows, and they have an Awsome selection of bibles even leather bound study bibles”
“Decent amount of books. I wish they had more used current romance. Most of the used romance was older stuff. Has a lot of new books for sale that are nicely priced.”
“Loved this place when they had art galleries and love it now as a book store!
As a book store, XIA has a great selection of books, with focus on AAPI authors. The store also greatly supports many local authors. All of employees are so helpful in recommending books.
The in-store cafe has many delicious drinks, pastries, and snacks; the barista is always so friendly. I love grabbing a Vietnamese coffee and croissant while looking for a new read.
Overall, this book store is a wonderful place to visit in the heart of St. Paul!”
“Great little book store.
Lots of recommendations, local authors represented, current politics and supportive to the communit; including posters, pins and stickers to liven up your local ? protest”
“This is a great independent, local bookstore located inside the Union Depot. Nice collection of local authors and a section of travel/train orientated books. The atmosphere is warm and inviting.”
“If anyone cared about Half-Price Books, Michaels, or had their own dignity; they wouldn't allow 7Brew Coffee atrocity into this parking lot. It's going to destroy these businesses. What on earth was the city council thinking? --They clearly weren't. What have you done?”
“Came in from out of town, put this on my list of things to do. I'd highly reccomend this place for many reasons. Vibes are immaculate, chatted with some older comrades while browsing for books. Awesome selection of leftist books spanning the broad spectrum of the left from Anarchist theorists like Kropotkin and Bookchin to the collective works of Stalin and Ho Chi Minh. Amazing selection of Palestine and Cuba literature as well as great speculative fiction. Plenty of books on trans liberation. Cash only but the 15% discount on everything is well worth it. Absolutely would reccomend anyone to go and get smart.”
“Midway Used and Rare Books is an alright bookstore in St. Paul. They use every inch of floor and shelf space, including the basement. It’s the type of store you can spend some time getting lost in. However, they sometimes lock their doors and you have to knock to get in, making it a little less friendly than you’d want.”
“Tons to look at. Boneshakers is a neighborhood staple. A must visit. I attended a National Collage Day event and made some button pins, under the guidance of Twin Cities Collage Collective. Tons of artwork from local artists. An excellent selection of books. Very comfortable atmosphere.”
“I just stopped in today and had a fantastic experience! The staff were friendly and so so helpful! They are really passionate about the craft. I am so glad I went in versus trying to just order things off amazon. They explained in length which tools were best for what I was looking to do, patiently helped me get everything I needed, and they helped me choose a beautiful piece of leather. They were understanding of my budget too and never pressured me on any particular tools/leather/etc. I'm excited to start my project and I will definitely be back for more projects!”
“Great store with an always interesting collection of poetry, fiction and more. There is a cafe in the same space and a center for book arts that has art prints for sale.”
“Great book selection, one that makes you more conscious as a person. The events are well-planned and executed as well. I really feel like a member of the community being there.”
