“I started coming here more than twenty years ago, when I still lived in Minneapolis. I just visited again when I was in town, and it's still an amazing store. It's a perfect blend of a comic book store and a science fiction bookstore. They have an impressive selection of both old comics and old books. They even have untranslated French-language comics.”

“I found this place by chance the night before, when I was looking for coffee shops in the area. This is a pretty small space, but very warm and inviting. These folks are still practicing covid safety protocols which is extremely reassuring, and they have an expansive selection of leftist political books, various categories ranging from theory and history to cooking and mental wellness. They even have children's and young adult books! There's something in here for everyone, and I'm really glad I visited. Will definitely be back whenever I find myself in the area again!”

“My child loves this store and no stop at MOA is complete without a stop here. This visit we had a few books we were specifically looking for. The associate who helped us was very knowledgeable and friendly. She quickly helped us find what we were looking for. This location is very large and has a tremendous amount of variety. The sale sections are also plentiful, easy to find a new read/game/song/movie. The children's section is very welcoming and full of great selections for young readers. All staff I have ever encountered here has been pleasant and helpful. It's always busy but, they keep the line moving quickly. We will always return because, books rule!”
“Dawn was awesome and super helpful (thanks for understanding when I explained my situation with having my two dogs with me!), as I had at least a dozen questions during my visit—from “Do you have any statues of Hermes?” to “What can you tell me about this rare book?”, and although my visit was interrupted by an awkward and tense exchange with their reactive herbalist (who has a dog allergy, apparently), I still enjoyed my experience and I hope to visit again to meet their founder some day. As someone who has lived with “invisible disability” for more than half my life, I’m happy to announce that I’ve gotten better at standing up for my rights instead of letting the triggers of others ruin my day. If this weren’t the case, I would have walked out after the exchange with the herbalist and not spent almost $700, yep—mostly on rare books!.Please have your employees read the Americans with Disabilities section on service animals. There is so much misinformation out there regarding what qualifies as a service animal, and unfortunately, their herbalist seems to think that the only type of service animal that exists are PHYSICAL SEEING-EYE DOGS. This is a harmful myth. And I’m not even talking about Emotional Support Animals (which are NOT service animals).PRO-TIP: There are TWO QUESTIONS YOU CAN LEGALLY ASK A DISABLED PERSON TO DISCERN IF THEY HAVE A LAWFUL SERVICE ANIMAL. 1.) Does this animal provide a service to you as a disabled person? 2.) What is the service they provide?So, I might not “look disabled” but if you had digital x-ray vision, AND understood the mechanics of the cytochrome P450 pathway AND the destabilization of fascicle nanotubes, you might “get it.” ;)Technically, there are multiple categories of service animals, one category being MEDICAL. These are animals, typically dogs, that can communicate to their handler when the handler is experiencing a medical emergency. This is what my dogs are trained for.I tried explaining this and the herbalist actually tried to argue with me. LADY. If you can’t handle your own emotional triggers working in a public-facing place, maybe it’s time to take a vacation. I’m sure your allergies are awful, but not being able to listen to what someone is saying in a diplomatic way is a surefire sign that you are actually the problem in the equation, not the environment. =)My one dog with fur is about the size of an 8-month old baby. He’s old and rides in the top bunk of a stroller. The other dog is also tiny, and has hair, not fur. She rides in the bottom bunk. We use a stroller because Mom is a ninja-cripple and we are all safer using a stroller for many reasons. The dogs get to walk on leashes when we’re at a park, and they never go off leash anywhere.p.s. There is no such thing has service animal registration, that is also a harmful myth. Service animals are for disabled people, and you can train them yourself. There are helpful books on how to train your own service dog. It’s lawful, legal, supported by the federal government’s Americans with Disabilites Act. Know your rights and seize them. We deserve to live freely. Carpe Diem!p.p.s. I don’t need a response to this review, especially if there isn’t some accountability to the unprofessionalism I encountered. Just do better. “I'm just happy book stores made it through the covid junk. Still more expensive than online but you don't go to these stores for the price. You go for the smell and the feel and being surrounded by countless authors and knowledge. This one is clean and decently organized. Staff could be a bit more courteous but not offensive enough to drop it a star.”

“I highly recommend this shop for any book lover. The workers are always friendly and willing to help (two of them even helped me find a merch shirt in my size). Prices for the books are average, but their stock is what makes this bookstore so fantastic. There are sections for every topic you can think of, I love the cookbook and fiction sections, particularly. If you want more than books, there's also puzzles, notebooks, t-shirts, bookmarks, etc. Parking: pay on-street parking. I recommend parking on 31st St, right off of Hennepin. Accessibility: wheel-chair accessible mostly (no step to get in, but no automatic door button). Bathrooms aren't wheelchair friendly (doors too narrow). Bathrooms: a bit stretchy, but the toilets and sinks are clean.”

“I went into the store looking for paranormal and sci-fi romance and the staff members helped me find several authors that fit the bill. It felt like a treasure hunt in there. I loved the selection of Buffy and Angel books. And the shop dogs were so friendly.”
“Was looking for some old decorative books to use on a bookshelf and this place absolutely did not let me down. The owner was extremely knowledgeable of absolutely every book I asked her about, and we spent almost two hours browsing the incredible (albeit quite messy) collection of books ranging from $10 to upwards of $1000. Also available was a huge collection of maps and prints which we didn't even have time to explore. This was a fantastic experience and I will definitely be going back.”
“Jim has been a good friend for more than 20 years and I often go just to visitBut it must be remembered that he is an expert in antiquarian books in general and has a very good selection of books, vinyl and maps and prints to choose from. Plus he can find just about anything he doesn't have in the store. He is a nationally known expert in the field and I couldn't be more positive in recommending Jim and the store to anyone looking for a specific book or record. It is a dynamite store!”

The employees are actually readers who can provide information and qualified suggestions about their books, and although small, they have a remarkably wide range of fiction and nonfiction sections. Although obviously they charge full cover price, anyone devoted to supporting physical bookstores should shop here.”

“Explore Afar is a large convenience store inside MSP airport. I walked in to get some snacks and a soda during my long layover at the airport. You will find all kinds of snacks, drinks, sandwiches and other quick bites here. They also sell some souvenirs if you need one on your way back home for loved ones.Service is quick, and the price is the same you will find in any convenience store in an airport. I got what I needed here to survive the long wait.”
