“Cozy and personal, this bookstore was a delight to go in! Loved the handwritten notes on shelves from customers and staff giving recommendations or thoughts on the books they've read. The lady behind the counter was so thoughtful and kind -- she knew so many of the books by heart and was amazing at helping me find a book to fit my wants. She was also ridiculously sweet to my daughter, who was celebrating her birthday that day!”

“This is perhaps the most precious bookshop I have visited. It is cozy and welcoming and so much thought and effort has gone into all the little details. From the inviting kids area to the beautifully crafted and themed shelf talkers with blurbs about select titles. I will absolutely be back any time I'm in St Paul.”

“This is a great independent, local bookstore located inside the Union Depot. Nice collection of local authors and a section of travel/train orientated books. The atmosphere is warm and inviting.”

“Midway Used and Rare Books is an alright bookstore in St. Paul. They use every inch of floor and shelf space, including the basement. It’s the type of store you can spend some time getting lost in. However, they sometimes lock their doors and you have to knock to get in, making it a little less friendly than you’d want.”

“Next Chapter Booksellers is the main place where I buy books. They have a great set of tables right inside the door that typically carry what I want to read. The staff are chill and friendly and they write good recommendations.

While the book clubs organized at Next Chapter aren't my particular taste, I like that they exist.

I take one star off because the hours are a little tough for someone who works full time. 10-5 on weekdays means I can only stop in to pick up on weekends. Certainly not the end of the world, but I'd love to be able to browse quietly at the end of a workday.”

“Stumbled on this rare gem today! Outstanding selection of books and other materials. Had a wonderful conversation with the owner. The very existence of this place warms my heart. So, all you fellow bibliophiles go to Against the Current and buy, buy, buy! Let’s keep this treasure alive and growing.”

“Whenever I am traveling through the MSP Airport, I stop into this delightful little bookstore. The employees are actually readers who can provide information and qualified suggestions about their books, and although small, they have a remarkably wide range of fiction and nonfiction sections. Although obviously they charge full cover price, anyone devoted to supporting physical bookstores should shop here.”

“Great selection of all genres. I found copies of Mike Hammer, Edge, Martin Beck, some other obscure Penguin crime novelists, and more. Prices were good, some over, and some under the going market rate. But that is what is fun in shopping at the small friendly book stores!”

“Very clean and quiet the staff is pretty cool they have Security on site that's always a good thing and no problem getting on the computers I don't really mess with the books but they probably have plenty of those and they also have an entire other side that's more like a college setting I guess you could say but if you become a member you can utilize that side as well they have all the machines that you would need copier printer Etc I would highly recommend this place”

“Was cleaning out old engineering and Safety books after retiring. Didnt want to throw them out as there was still a lot of good information there. Was told that Books for Africa took them and shipped them over to Africa by the container. For example they have sent 400 containers to EthiopiaThey ask for a 50 cent donation per book to help cover the cost of shipping but I was so happy to have the books put to good use I gave more.Great charity!”

“Every experience has been positive! Staff are quick to respond to online orders and are more than willing to help with any issues with orders! The only “downside” is that (not at their fault) because of the nature of the store being both in person and online, sometimes the stock availability changes after an online order is placed. Again however, staff are more than willing to help you find a new size or item. I would recommend them to any and all St. Kate’s alumna and family!”

“Clean and tidy, but as expected for private school bookstore, the merchandise (especially clothing) was WAY overpriced. Not sure about book prices - haven't crossed that bridge yet.”

“Really poor experience with store staff when attempting to make a return for defective item. Will not shop here again.
Edit: Store management was very responsive to resolve issue and will return to give them another chance.”

“I went on campus to return some rental books. It was my first time since I'm an online grad student. I couldn't find the bookstore at first, but one of the coaches showed me the way. The bookstore staff was friendly and my books were easy to return.”
