“Kalispell Volkswagen turned what could have been a vacation disaster into one of the best service experiences I’ve had with any automotive shop.
My 2014 Porsche Cayenne Diesel died on the side of the road outside Kalispell on a Friday afternoon just before the Fourth of July. I was from out of town, had no idea where to take it, and the tow truck driver recommended Kalispell Volkswagen. I’m very glad he did.
From the moment we arrived, Gloria was terrific. She quickly got my information and, rather than making promises she couldn’t keep, gave me a very realistic and honest explanation of what the shop would be able to do before closing for the holiday weekend. On Monday, she walked me through the diagnostics they had performed, what they had found, the challenges they encountered, the repair options and the associated costs. There was no sales pitch and no pressure—just straightforward information so I could make an informed decision.
The primary issue was the turbocharger, which I approved replacing. During the repair, the team accidentally cracked a laser weld on an adjoining pipe. What impressed me was how they handled it: they immediately told me what had happened, took responsibility and explained how they were going to make it right. No excuses and no attempt to hide it.
After replacing that pipe, they discovered another, unrelated crack at an exhaust flange. Again, they called, explained the problem and recommended repairing the weld rather than simply replacing more parts and adding unnecessary expense. I agreed, they repaired it successfully, completed the final diagnostics and made sure everything checked out. The Cayenne is now running great.
The repair took longer than any of us would have liked, but throughout the process Gloria and Matt regularly kept me informed. I never felt like my vehicle had disappeared into the back of a service department. I knew what they were working on, what they had discovered and what they recommended doing next.
What makes this especially notable is that I purchased this Porsche used a little over a year ago and have since dealt with two dealerships and three independent shops in the Seattle area. Every one of them managed to identify something, repair it and send me a bill, but I rarely came away feeling particularly confident about what had been done or that anyone truly cared about getting to the root of the problem.
Kalispell Volkswagen was completely different.
Matt told me that this level of service reflects the culture of their shop—that everyone there is committed to doing good work and creating happy customers. Based on my experience, I believe him. They cared about fixing the vehicle correctly, kept me involved in the process, gave me options rather than simply replacing parts, and even went the extra mile at their own expense when something happened during the repair.
That kind of honesty, accountability and pride in the craft is increasingly rare—especially at a dealership and especially for a customer from out of town who may never become a regular customer.
A huge thank you to Gloria, Matt and the entire Kalispell Volkswagen service team. You took a stranded traveler with a complicated vehicle problem and treated me like a longtime customer. That is exceptional service, and it deserves to be recognized.

I recently had an issue with a tail light. I called and asked for a referral to a good local mechanic. They said, “Bring it in. We’ll take a look and see if we can help. No charge to check it out!” I did. They were welcoming and kind, as always. I waited and enjoyed coffee in their comfortable client area. They did not have the parts to resolve the issue, but asked if I would like a free car wash!! Yes! How incredibly thoughtful!! I left with a clean car, a warm heart, and no bill. Customer service and grace to the max!

“Really can't say enough about the dedicated staff at Clark Hyundai. I was faced with a pretty stressful situation about my old--but amazingly reliable--2008 Hyundai Tucson. It was starting to finally have some issues with old age, and I had to decide whether or not to invest in another vehicle. Veronica was very helpful in walking me through my options, and I finally decided to lease a 2026 Hyundai Venue. All this occurred late in the day on a Friday, and she stayed at the dealership until almost 9 that evening to see me through the leasing process.
As of this writing--nearly 2 weeks later--I feel confident that I made the right decision. Veronica also patiently guided me through the process of setting up the safety and Infotainment features. She graciously used her own phone to show me how to sync things up since I had--gasp!--forgotten my phone at home. Also want to throw out some major kudos for Tucker who was a huge help in arranging shuttle service for me a couple times from Whitefish. What a stress reliever that was! Kudos also to Eric, the shuttle driver, for promptness, good conversation, and good info about leasing, etc.”
