Pet Sitting & Training

The Wagging Tail 603
72 Portsmouth Ave STE 112, StrathamThe Wagging Tail 603 isn’t your typical dog daycare and that’s exactly why we love it.
My dog does not thrive in the “throw everyone in a room together” kind of environment. She used to be more of the “watch and monitor” type… the dog that would hang back and observe all the pups instead of jumping in to play. So finding a place that actually meets her where she’s at was a total game changer.
They really take the time to understand what your dog needs and work with you, and it shows. Since coming here, my dog is noticeably more confident… and now she actually loves running around and playing with her friends!!!
On top of that, they send pictures, do fun little events, and the staff is genuinely kind! You can just tell they truly love the dogs and treat them like family.
We also signed up for their training programs so she could eventually join the adventure camps, and I’m SO glad we did.
If you’re looking for a daycare that will care for your dog like you do (and not treat them like a number), do yourself a favor and check out The Wagging Tail 603.

New Hampshire SPCA
104 Portsmouth Ave, StrathamWow! This is an awesome shelter!
At another shelter we were treated with undue suspicion ( we cancelled our application after 10 days of background checks and no answer)
BUT the SPCA read our application and gave us an immediate pre-approval. The SPCA is friendly from the moment you walk in.
You will receive a volunteer or employee who will guide you through the animals, open crates, and answer questions. We went twice on crowded snowstorm Saturdays and the staff did a great job of helping people take turns with meeting animals. We spent 4 hours with cats and they never rushed us. They did not guilt us about anything about our lives. When they discovered that the cats we chose to adopt had a foster family note that the cats shouldn't be with dogs ( we have a dog), they told us all of the details and politely and respectfully discussed the situation and left it up to us to judge for ourselves whether we think we can prevent problems with the cats and our dog. We saw that another family wanted the cats, so we changed our choice to another cat that we bonded with. We were impressed that they treated us as competent pet owners instead of refusing adoption.
This shelter collects as much background info on the pets as they can, with the help of foster homes. They clearly cared about doing the right thing for each animal.
The shelter has clean spacious enclosures for cats and small animals ( that's all we saw) with plexiglas instead of metal bars. There are finger holes in some Plexiglas panels so you can speak, or put a toy on a stick through, or your fingers, to start the interaction.
It was very quiet in the cat area through good interior design and unstressed cats.
There are rooms for family interaction with an animal.
They're great with kids.
The adoptable animals listings on their website is kept current in that an animal is removed from the page immediately upon adoption. There are more animals than you see online, don't be discouraged from visiting if you don't see an animal in the listings that you like.
They were cleaning enclosures and bringing out newly cleared cats as cats were adopted. I have absolutely nothing negative to say! ♥️
