“One of my favorite local bookstores. The staff is very friendly, they offer a wide range of books, and a lot of new releases across different genres. When I've wanted a book that isn't on the shelf they always offer to see if they can order it to the store for pick up at a later date. There's also a nice sized children's section for little readers!”

“Had a great experience here! Customer service was outstanding. My request was obscure, but the gentleman assisting me was relentless on the hunt and found a fantastic script anthology. Just what my students need. Oh, and service with a sunny disposition! Thanks Drama Bookshop!”

“Cute little bookshop, backed by a super knowledgeable and sweet shop owner who also runs the store. Fantastic book selection; children’s books, romance, biographies, fiction; classics, new releases; popular picks and obscure titles; cookbooks and self-help books. Right in the neighborhood, making travel light and easy. Located next to a cafe, so you can enjoy your books while having a drink. Near the park, do changing the scenery while you read is an added bonus!”

“Exquisite. Exclusive. Exclusivity. I read and write a lot, I am now working on my fourth book project, and apparently, 99.9 percent of people have thought about writing a book, or the thought has emerged in their head, but only 0.1 percent of people have actually gone on to publish one. Exclusivity. Writing a book and then publishing one is the essence and the definition of exclusivity in my humble opinion. And just the air and smell of a bookstore gives off that aura and vibe of exclusivity. And this one is of course outstanding.”

“Beautiful ambiance. Very cutesy decor. Nice bar downstairs and it has a backyard. Black woman owned bookstore and bar in Bedstuy ! Staff were super nice and friendly. Would love to visit again in warmer months. My only complaints are 1. I sat downstairs at the bar for 30 minutes without service. Went back upstairs and was told by the one worker upstairs that I need to order my drink with him, pay for It there, then give him a few minutes to come downstairs to serve me. Very confusing but I think that was based on short staffing issue because later on, there was a bartender downstairs at the actual bar.
2. a glass of wine cost about $17 and it’s barely half a glass ? seems overpriced to me. Otherwise this is a dope spot.”

“I live one block from this iconic establishment is so incredibly special and unique and just feels like old New York and certainly is an icon and a staple here in the Williamsburg area. The solution books is truly overwhelming from classic books to fashion to coffee table to not to mention the incredible stationary cards and pins. The staff is so lovely and it’s great location and just always consistent. Great service. I have here all the time they have the best coffee table books ever for the perfect gift to bring to a hose for their party. I love it so much. It’s one of the last remaining actual genuine, authentic Williamsburg establishments.”

“Got a book, amazing prices, I could not find any better, amazing print quality, and came with not one, but two free bookmarks, and was shipped earlier than it was supposed to be, which is a good thing. 100/10”

“Absolutely the best record store I have been to in ages. Always a steal of some sort in the “just in” section - makes the prices of most vinyl places seem patently absurd. Also a cool albeit small, well-curated book selection, and just a mellow look and vibe with a friendly staff. I always look forward to a trip to Soldato and it’s definitely the gem of our town.”

“It’s actually insane how perfect this store is. It has a phenomenal assortment of books with a creative layout by subgenre. Want splatterpunk? Horror romance? Literary? They’ve got sections for it! The dim lighting and dark paint makes the space feel incredibly cozy and comforting, in an eerie haunted house way. Feeling too claustrophobic? They have a backyard with plentiful seating! There’s a restroom, always clean, with free tampons. There is a cafe with an excellent drinks menu and local baked goods, and wine and beer! The non book merch is soooo cute; it’s a struggle not to drop hundreds of dollars here. Pins, cards, stickers, jewelry, socks, tees, etc. The staff are all so warm and welcoming too. And the open hours are long, with lots of cool events in the evenings! Genuinely this is my favorite business in all of Brooklyn.”

“Stumbled into this place while visiting town. It was so cute and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. They had a ton of art, architecture, and coffee table books. I snagged a pile of books for a great price.”

“The Blue Moon hotel feels like you have traveled back in time the moment you step inside the lobby. The hotel was clean, rooms were lovely and spacious, for a NYC hotel. This is a historic, family run hotel, so don’t expect fancy amenities, although our room was equipped with a small fridge, burner and sink on an ample size counter, and you can order your fridge pre-stocked. Beds were very comfortable. Located right across the street from the Tenement Museum. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.”

“This is my favorite bookstore in the area. Of course the selection is great, but what makes it stand out is the warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff that is not only so knowledgeable, but is so willing to help. They’re also willing to hang back if you just want to browse, but I love getting their recs.”

“An amazing old style real book store! They have a huge selection of used books and new best sellers arrive every day. The owners are extremely knowledgeable and offer excellent choices. I read 2 to 3 books a week and absolutely love this store. There is nothing like turning the pages of a real book!”

“Liz’s Book Bar is the chic, stylish cousin of the classic indie bookstore. Some bookstores lean a little gritty (which I can also love), but LBB is clean and polished while still feeling completely independent. People are friendly. I heard several people strike up conversations (with strangers, to be clear). At one point I overheard a woman recognize another woman from TikTok and they started chatting. That kind of thing felt very normal here.
I came in for a drink with a friend who lives in the neighborhood and it was such a great space that I ended up asking the owner if I could host my discussion group (20-40 people depending on the night). A couple months later I held my Sad Rich Girl Salon at LBB and it was wonderful. The staff was so helpful and warm. Gave us mics. Cleared the floor and setup chairs. (Honestly, this event was better run than several of my “official” tour stops arranged by my publishing team.)
There was also a really cute moment where I met a woman who follows me on IG and had read my book and just happened to be at LBB that night (total coincidence). She bought a copy for her friend and asked me to sign it. it was one of those serendipitous moments that happen all the time in nyc but still feels so movie-like.
Added bonus: LBB sold out my book for the event
I only wish I lived closer because I’d be here all the time.”

“ETG book cafe is a hidden gem in the neighborhood. I especially like the eve's elixir and the cinnamon bun. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing and staff is always warm and friendly. They also have an outdoor patio that's so nice to sit at on warmer days.”

“One of my favorite bookstores in NYC. Lots of great fiction, graphic novels, social justice oriented books, books by POC authors, and liberatory content, including People’s History posters and zines. I adore the vibe of this bookstore and the people who work here are warm, kind, and great at recommending perfect books. A staple Bed-Stuy establishment that represents the community in many ways. Please let this bookstore stay in our community for a long time ?”

“I adore this store and visit every time I am in town. The highlight of my business trips are always browsing this store. Their customer service is beyond stellar. There is always someone around to help locate something or answer questions. The folks who answer the phone are always very polite and helpful. Their membership is a great value and comes with a cute card!

The above and beyond: I had requested a hold for an incoming item that was delayed - it was an hour before I had to catch a train (won't be back for a few months) and last ditch effort called to ask if it had arrived. They were still processing the day's delivery. The woman on the phone could have easily told me I needed to wait until I received a call that it was ready and I would have understood, but instead she located the item and prepped it for pickup. I was able to purchase it and make my train. Beyond grateful for their amazing service.”

“I ordered a book online. The customer service once I placed my order was top notch. I received notifications on each step and all links for tracking worked perfectly. The part I didn’t expect was the care surrounding packaging for transport. The packaging told me EVERYTHING I needed to know about Nicholas Brooklyn. If this type of packaging doesn’t show you they care about books… I really don’t know what else does. This shows they love books just as much as the person ordering. ??????”

Slightly more pricey than books you can order online but still worth a visit whilst you're in SoHo.”
