“the most special little pocket of a craft store i had ever hoped to find. forget michael's, artist & craftsman supply has an immense variety of what you need to make art, and you'll be supporting small business! i went in just for some spools of embroidery thread, and not only did they have a huge spectrum of colors, but i must have left with two armfuls of craft supplies - as someone who loves to always be creating new things, that's how i know I'll be coming back forever!!”
“My fav type of craft shop; hold the frills, has all the goods w/ crafty community members at the counter who are excited to help u bring your project to fruition. Will be returning! Got my eye on the little origami kits at least hehe look so fun”
“Superb store for anything related to three dimensional art, super knowledgeable staff, helped me out with something I've been looking for for ages, very happy.”
“I had the most excellent experience! Ralph took such care and time with 2 papyrus pieces I had brought back from Egypt for framing. I am so happy I chose them at the end of my extensive search! Some in my search were the more generic synthetic framing operations, and some were the more expensive ones, but none had the character and beautiful unique artistic selection that KC has! Plus that personal old New York touch : ) I am stunned by how powerful these pieces came out. Thank you KC Arts! And thank you Ralph for the best experience!”
“I have been consistently impressed by the quality of Barronarts' custom panels, which I've been ordering regularly since early 2020. After fifteen years of painting on a number of different supports, the Sintra (PVC) surface is a revelation: it's archival, rigid, smooth, durable, and lightweight. Did I mention affordable? I recently ordered some custom poplar floater frames to fit around my medium sized paintings and was very satisfied with the results. The Barronarts team even sent me some free frame finish samples to keep in my studio to refer to and show to clients. Jeffrey Barron is always highly attentive to my needs and extremely responsive over phone and email, a true professional (and solid human being). I wholeheartedly recommend Barronarts for working artists of all stripes!”

“Love to come visit my friends at P&P shipping. I come here a lot to ship items out for my small business. Sajit is always a welcomed sight, very helpful, professional and loves to have a laugh. They also have all the shipping supplies you need in store. Plus art, office and much more supplies for sale. Highly recommend their services, they will go above and beyond any FedEx, UPS or USPS store.”
“nice place, very nice people and helpful staff, but shocked at $1 per copy black and white. I should have asked how much copying costs, but down a few blocks at Columbia it's 10 or 15 cents which I assumed would be the same here. Turns out they use the same home machine I have. But, nice people, so I am looking it as special support to them just because they are helpful people”
“I gotta say this place is a time capsule it has really cool old school trucks, trains, busses, boats, planes and anime stuff too like Gundum star track star wars etc... and the old man is really cool... soo go there and show some love.”
“omg im OBSESSED!! I wanted to buy everything! They have everything from crafts, books, gift, decor, school supplies, games, etc! and all the designs are so cute <3 would come back a thousand times!”
“The owner is so funny and kind! He definitely knows his stuff! This dude has like the whole craft store in here and I'm just like, 'Michael's Craft Store who?' Sorry, I'ma have to go here every day after school instead of Michael's. It's cheaper and honestly the people here are so chill. 100% would recommend! (Thanks for the Mitsu-Bishi pencil, my guy. I'll come back with more money like I promised!)”
“Stopped in to get a frame and was helped by Jeremy. He was so helpful and patient as we looked through various frames together. He even helped me put the wire on the frame. Glad I went into the store instead of trying to order online!”
“Very cool little shop. Was able to get some stamps made in just a couple minutes from the book of pre made stamps. Good price for such a cool little piece of a dying art.”
“One of my favorite places to visit as an artist the employees here really know what they’re doing with their pigments, and the selection is so beautiful and easy to walk in and purchase. I can’t wait to mix my colors using the advice that they gave me.”
“Always a pleasure to visit this store. The staff are incredibly helpful, community focused, and dedicated to building a welcoming space.
If you don't see it on the shelves, they can often order supplies for you.”
“Best toy store and craft store where you can art supplies, celebratory balloons, poster boards etc…! The employee that day was super helpful! He helped me pick out a celebratory balloon, and was very knowledgeable on selecting toys for a newborn :) 10/10 will always come here for any supplies and craft shopping I need. Support local businesses!”
“Super helpful staff! Very quick and easy experience in getting our wedding invitations done. Thank you Vanessa for the dedication to perfect our invitations. Would recommend them for invitations and helping through the process to customize and perfect everything.”
“Absolutely amazing. If you are interested in paint or paint making, or are an artist, this is worth the visit regardless of where you are in the city. Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, while also being safety forward. Genuinely wished I lived in the city so I could visit more often.”
“Good people. Best office items, art supplies, and gift ideas! Great prices, huge selection for a small space. And they even ordered a special kind of notebook for me.”
“West Side Stationer’s welcoming, helpful owner Paul, staff and tax-pro Meena on wedt 99 at 2620 Broadway, NYC are like an extension to my work they are my print shop, purchasing department, and advidors for proposals, grant applications, graphics and marketing. And publishing - all in one, online and onsite.
Unlike the big chains, they give personalized service, find or, if they don’t have something, get whatever I need to print, illustrate or package my work and communications so they look great for my freelance/home office and courses - and my communications with family/friends
I broke my ‘knee-jerk’ habit of ordering from chains when I realized how much added value I get from a team of people ready to help. Even last minute rushes. Glad to see their new online and onsite digital printing system.

“Can't say anything bad about them. I had a client call and order over the phone and it was available for a smooth and clean pickup the same day. I can always find what I need and they have multiple NYC locations (and a very user-friendly website) just in case you can't find what you need. I even picked up a compact drawing board for myself. The staff was so friendly and approachable that it was an easy sale.”
“If your looking for a great local art store, Apple art is perfect! However if your a pratt student looking for cheap supplies you should be a little more cautious. Prices vary wildly in comparison to Blick art supplies. Holbien Gouache, for example, is much cheaper at Apple art, but Apple art often will more expensive basics like charcoal pencils. Overall I try to shop more at Apple art because supporting local businesses is a good thing, and often the price difference isn't enough to justify one over the other.”

“Super helpful and friendly staff. More geared towards education level supplies but definitely have a substantial selection of professional grade supplies as well. Will return.”
“I thought the Blick brand items were reasonably priced. Multiple staffers asked if I needed assistance but weren't pushy and didn't tail me through the store like at other art supplies places. Prices labels were clear everywhere and it was very clean. Music was pretty uncomfortably loud, unfortunately. Check out was fast and friendly.”
“BKLN Clay has been the thing I look forward to every Wednesday since the fall of 2023. The community, educators and facility would get 6 stars if it were an option.”
“I have been going to Paintbox NoLita for the last few years, and have had 4 separate pieces framed. I don’t write reviews often but I want to commend their services. Every time their work is top notch (most pieces I’m framing are fine art prints or paintings), and they always handle them with care. The museum glass option is a must for me, and their pricing on it is good.I know I can go to them for high quality work, and pay fair prices.I have to give them credit: as recently a lenticular I had framed by them slipped inside the frame and was crooked. I called them up and they told me to bring it in and they would fix it. I didn’t even have a receipt as it had been over a year, but they took the piece and fixed it within 2 days - no charge. This is the customer service I appreciate, and will continue to give them my business and recommend them to others.”
“There are two big reasons I use Talas for my book arts supplies: 1) The have very good quality materials and 2) their packaging for shipping is excellent. Papers are never bruised or dimpled, and bookcloth arrives in perfect condition.”
