“The best bike shop in the neighborhood! They are right off the green way so I’ve dropped off my bike several times on my way home after a long ride and I’m need of replacing breaks pads, disc rims etc. If you’re on the way to empire trail and need a fix it’s along the way. They are always helpful and super easy to talk to.”

“Robin was great in explaining to me exactly what the potential bike repairs were for and all the options if I wanted to upgrade. The repairs were done in an hour and it looks as good as new. I will definitely come here again!
Edited to add:
I just went to see Robin again about bike that needs a lot of repairs. He was extremely detailed in explaining to me exactly what was wrong and the pros/cons in buying a new bike or repairing the old one. It's such a good feeling to know that I have a reliable neighborhood bike store!”
“walked in and Ada helped me right away with my flat. I was far from home and she understood that. I was in and out within 20 minutes and I couldn't be more happy with my experience.”
“I’m a bicycle station ride or die forever. ?♀️
Our man Mike is always quick and personable, great problem solver - doesn’t overcharge and delivers when he says he will. My favorite repair spot in the neighborhood.
Does my tune ups every years, chopped down my handlebars the way I like, fixed my wonky gear shift, retightens my brakes, just installed a rat trap I couldn’t figure out from Amazon.”
“Been coming here for years and let me tell you! None of these bike shops will ever compare to Dixon’s customer service, turn around time & sturdiest repairs in NYC. I’m skeptical about most shops, I walk in here and I know I will be taken care of. It’s family runned, black-owned and has the coolest bike facility I’ve ever witnessed. Also the guy will educate you and answer your questions if need be. Top shop, no doubt. Go show them full on love and support.”
“Amazing shop! I ordered the Wahoo bundle online and was notified that the v2 had some problems so I was upgraded to the v3. I did have to wait a bit longer than I initially expected, but the package arrived quickly when it shipped. Will definitely stop by if I'm ever in NY.”
“I had a flat tire on the Rockaway boardwalk. John, the service manager, stopped and repaired my flat, charged me nothing. He paused his bike ride with friends to offer me assistance. I am impress & grateful for his generosity. I will now be using this store for all my needs.”
“Quinn was an absolute legend. Thorough, helpful, informative. Felt like he balanced needed replacements/services with suggested improvements/products well without feeling like he was upselling or pushing an agenda. Great experience and bike is now riding like new. Also helped me with a couple bike fit items and was very patient and again helpful. Will be back.”
“I have my bike for 3 years and needed some kind of upgrade so instead of buying a new bike I asked the owner Jose for some advise. I rode it today and what a difference it felt. Jose is a very fair guy and very accommodating. so im happy with his service and staff. I would recommend it.”
“The Owner has great taste in beer.
Soon to see and hear some great stuff from out of his creativity.
He also spare me a tube FREE.
5-Star review for his workshop.
I Ride Bikes All Day Long.
So, this is my Go-To Shop to drop by and check on his inventory.”
“Bicycle Roots is one of those special shops where they aren’t interested in shallow transactional exchanges but instead invest themselves in building a deep relationship with you and your experience riding your bicycle. I’ve worked with the shop on two custom builds: my beloved Ritchey Outback gravel bike and my sturdy Surly Long Haul Trucker. In both cases I was struck not only by the quality and meticulousness of the craft they poured into the build, but also by the patient communication they put into making sure I understood every key decision they were making, giving me context to help me steer things in a different direction when I was confused, and helping me have peace of mind that the choices we landed on were choices that would serve me for years of seeking joy on my bike. This kind of deep personal involvement, in which the mechanics are not only knowledgeable, but eager to share their knowledge with you in a generous and empowering way is all too rare in bike shops. It takes a level of humility and kindness one is lucky to come across in one’s friends, not to mention a commercial relationship. I feel lucky to count the staff at Bicycle Roots as my friends, and I hope that if you’re reading this, you take the time to invest as deeply in the shop as I have done. They will reciprocate every ounce of investment, and you’ll come out of it not only with a bike you can depend on for years to come, but a relationship of which you can say the same thing.”
“Came in looking for a simple tune up and left with my bike feeing brand new. Customer service is excellent. Flor worked on mine and was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Affordable prices and great communication. Will be returning!”
“Today it was my first time for changing my kickstand, they are good and fast worker, price also affordable, it wont be last ,i will stop by for e bike needs something”
“Highly knowledgeable(!) and exceptionally generous service. I have been seriously riding for over twenty years and I just learned so much from Greg. I purchased a new, replacement saddle after being permitted to try different ones as I sat on an adjustable bike-fit machine. I will definitely make an appt. to have a new fitting with my current road bike.”
“I had a fantastic experience with Edgar at Trek Bicycle Stuyvesant Town. I brought my bike in with an annoying creak coming from the bottom bracket, and he quickly diagnosed and resolved the issue with precision and care.
On top of that, he tuned my drivetrain to perfection—it’s now running whisper quiet with incredibly clean, sharp gear changes. The bike honestly feels better than it has in a long time.
Edgar clearly takes pride in his work, and it shows in the results. Highly recommend him if you want your bike dialed in right the first time.”
“all these different people are talking about how rude and expensive the people and store are but i bought a flip board today and they let me slide $1.63 because he saw i didn't have the exact change and they also put the grip tape on the board likity split. have no bad memories only good ones from this place, imma pull up tmro and buy wheels and some stickers. 10/10 would recommend and WILL RETURN.”
“Craig is extremely knowledgeable and nudged me (no pressure to sell) to the best option for me even though it wasn't one of the store's bikes.
I'm *extremely* happy with the seat and pedals he recommended to upgrade on it, as well as a suspension seatpost I got a few years back.
Man, I should've upgraded my bike years ago.”
“I had a malfunctioning battery powered air pump that I purchased last year that stopped working . Your staff filed my warranty and promptly replaced the product for free. You folks really stand behind your products !”
“Ilya and Kasia have been super helpful in getting my bike fit properly and helping me keep it maintained in top notch fashion. The shop rides are also great, a really friendly group that I enjoy riding with weekly whilst it’s warm enough around prospect park.”
“Had a wonderful experience with the team at Spin City! They built my bike and took less than 24 hours to turn it around, I couldn’t believe it. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff answered all my questions and made sure I had everything I needed to get out on the road. Ken is a rockstar ?? I can’t wait to go back for the bike care class in the winter!”

“I've been to many shops and Don Pedro is #1 on my list. He listens and talks with you and treats the customers with great respect. Excellent price, products, service and very knowledgeable. Are you serious about cycling? Then this is the place to be.”
“I had a back flat tire. I found Larry’s Cycle on Google. They fixed it for me in 10 minutes. Very professional!! They are also very kind and honest. The store is beautiful and cleaned have a great selection of bikes and accessories.Highly recommended”
“To be honest my girlfriend and I just needed a throwaway wheel to make a prop and the owner / mechanic there was super nice and looked through a bunch of wheels in the shop to find us a busted one that we could take. Also 2 v. cute cats hanging around.”
“I had a wonderful experience with Greenpath. My scooter needed new front tire. They performed the task in 2 days and was ready to picked up. Friendly staff. I would highly recommend Greenpath.”
“I went in today to this bike shop instead of the one on 32nd street near Dominos based on reviews alone. The owners were super nice!! My son’s bike needed the chain put back, something was wrong with the rear tire and the break. The tires needed air, Jorge had me in there for less than 10 minutes. Helen is really nice too!! Definitely will be going back and their prices are pretty damn good!!”
“They got me back on the road when my sealant dried up and my rear tire flatted out, luckily half mile from them. They sold me a new sealant bottle and hooked me up with the tools to add it.”
“Cannot say enough positive things about this place! On a new road bike and my first ride in 10 years, had an unfortunate clip in SNAFU by the bridge that damaged my bike and made it unrideable. Thankfully I was within walking distance of the shop and within an hour it was completely fixed, along with a set of pedals that were a better match for my shoes/bike. I rode about 30 miles after without a hitch and the team was kind and friendly the entire time.”

“Mr C cycles, it doesn’t get better than the this ! Friendly mechanics , explained everything, did excellent work at a reasonable price . I was going to MR C’s on and off because it’s not as convenient as some of the other shops near me . But the last 2 visits convinced me it’s worth the effort to haul my bike here .”
“After a lot of support from the team at Propel, I have started riding my Tern GSD in Hawaii. It took a while, but it is worth it! I purchased two Gazelle bikes from Propel a few years ago and was impressed with the customer service. This time was no different. Thanks to everyone in Brooklyn who helped pack and ship the bike, not a scratch! The long distance made it hard, but Jon was always responsive and helpful. Thanks again!”
“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If I could give this place 15 stars, I would.
I absolutely love Tony’s Bicycles and the owner. I’ve taken my bike here multiple times for everything — tune-ups, repairs, small fixes — and the experience is consistently excellent.
Compared to the shops I used in Manhattan and Brooklyn (even the UES spots I thought would be “top tier”), Tony’s is faster, more reliable, and they use OEM parts when possible without needing to be asked. They’ll often fix little things for free, like straightening bent handlebars or replacing end caps, just because they care.
What’s even better is you don’t always have to explain what’s wrong — they’ll often spot issues before they become problems. Last summer, Tony warned me that part of my chain was warped. Fast forward a year, my derailleur snapped — exactly what he warned could happen. They replaced it all and had me back on the road in no time.
If you’re ever unhappy with something, just ask to speak to Tony directly. He genuinely wants to make things right.
Also, keep in mind that not everyone there speaks English as a first language. What might sound blunt or rushed is a PROFESSIONAL trying to assure you they have everything under control in their best English.
I’m honestly shocked to see any poor reviews. This is a local gem. I’ll keep coming back again and again.”
