Ace Hardware in New Windsor is hands-down the best hardware store Iβve ever dealt with. Iβve come in with some very specific, off-the-wall problemsβlike figuring out how to funnel gas into a β67 Chevy that ran dryβand every single time, the staff here knows exactly what to do.
Whether itβs tracking down a bizarre screw size for an old door or just helping brainstorm a fix when I donβt even fully know what I need, they always have the answer. The team is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and just plain kind. Itβs clear they take pride in their work and actually enjoy helping customers solve problems.
Iβve been coming here since it operated under a different name (True Value), and even with the shift to Ace, the quality hasnβt changedβitβs the same stellar team and same commitment to service.
Honestly, theyβve been single-handedly helping me put my house back together, one part and one solution at a time. Canβt recommend them enough.β
βTRUCKERS: a note until pics come through. It's only 1 entrance/exit. Turn from traffic lane. Just keep straight and you'll see dock. Move your tandems all the way forward, if can, to Exit. Be safe!β

βThis is a wonderful hardware store. No matter what I have wanted over the years, they have had it. Moreover, even when I don't know what the thing I want is actually called, I can describe it and they'll have it. You simply cannot get this kind of quick, honest, and thoughtful customer service at a big box store. If you live in the area and are driving all the way to the nearest chain hardware, trust me, you're wasting time and money. The small extra fee you might pay here (often cheaper here) is always less than the gas and wear and tear on your car.
I love supporting small businesses, and this is one of the best.β

βCan't stand these whiney reviews that blame the store for their own mistake. I've shopped here dozens of times and am always impressed by the friendly, knowledgeable and helpful service offered by most employees. Very different from my experience at a competing Big Box which is closer to my home, but which I will no longer patronize. Prices are competitive, order online and they'll bring it right to your vehicle!β

βNeeded a gasket for my toilet tank, several plumbing supply and big box hardware stores didn't have what I needed and were giving me bad info. I ran into Winsupply and BS knew what he was talking about. Sold me a $10 Gerber gasket and my leaky toilet was fixed. He saved me a $200 service call!β
βMike and Jeff are the best. Donβt even think about big box or other hardware stores. These guys actually know what they are talking about and give you what you need instead of sending you down an aisle to find it.β
βI know them from using this company for years at my job, always quality locks and always prompt. Can't beat the price either for a true locksmith.I have a key that no one has been able to recreate from the blank I personally cut for my front door. Hardware stores haven't been able to copy it successfully and the big box store laser guided key cutters don't even come close to a quality locksmith. This man cut a copy for this unreplicable key in a fraction of the time and it works like a dream. Thank you!β

But I went in for a pickup order and had to wait a while but it was all good. Got what I needed and was on my way. Staff inside is always friendly and helpful.β

βUnfortunately, the flowers I purchased in the garden center, didn't hold up. $200 down the drain. I have mixed feelings about giving this store the fourth star, but in fairness, the Home Depot is one of the only options.β

βWent there today to pick up a sale item. It wasn't on the shelf but the associate working in the tool department tracked it down and got it for me. All the staff was very friendly.β

βNew Confectioner is my frozen dessert business and Air Gas saw that I was going to be buying dry ice every week. So they gave me the bulk discount even if I don't meet the minimum purchase weight. I have never been told that they don't have the dry ice I need. Count on Air Gas!β

βI can't understand the negative reviews below... I have dealt with Bill and his staff for years and have had nothing but positive experiences with this business. They are friendly, competent accessible and courteous. They go out of their way to go the extra mile and explain everything that they do in terms of servicing and repairing your equipment. I had my lawn tractor repaired there recently and a problem recurred a week or so after it was returned. Bill picked it up promptly, tested it extensively at the shop and took corrective action, all at no charge, including pick up and delivery. He stands behind his work and has earned my trusβ
βRecently, I had a $5k project, and Karen @ the customer service desk helped me through it. Then I had a delivery issue, where the warehouse didn't deliver $1100 worth of materials even though they said they did. Karen again stepped up and helped me. She got me in touch with a manager, Crissy. Crissy ended up getting my money return after reviewing the video footage I had. This manager is awesome!
As for Karen, she deserves a raise/promotion. (I know there are other employees at this store who do a great job, but I can only talk about my interaction.)

βOn a recent Saturday morning, we needed some plywood for a project. This particular plywood needed to be restocked though, as there were not enough pieces down on the floor to reach. To our relief, Leo stepped in and coordinated this with another guy a few minutes before he ended his shift for the morning! The enormous stack of plywood was moved from the upper level down to the floor for us to access. The next thing we needed was a few of these pieces cut. Christopher and Sal were tremendously helpful at the saw, measuring, cutting and helping to put the plywood back onto our cart. Great teamwork and customer service!β
