“I live one block from this iconic establishment is so incredibly special and unique and just feels like old New York and certainly is an icon and a staple here in the Williamsburg area. The solution books is truly overwhelming from classic books to fashion to coffee table to not to mention the incredible stationary cards and pins. The staff is so lovely and it’s great location and just always consistent. Great service. I have here all the time they have the best coffee table books ever for the perfect gift to bring to a hose for their party. I love it so much. It’s one of the last remaining actual genuine, authentic Williamsburg establishments.”

“Extremely knowledgeable in seforim, and extremely patient. Taking the time to show me where the exact books I was looking for were located. Oh and the new store is HUGE!!!!”
“It’s actually insane how perfect this store is. It has a phenomenal assortment of books with a creative layout by subgenre. Want splatterpunk? Horror romance? Literary? They’ve got sections for it! The dim lighting and dark paint makes the space feel incredibly cozy and comforting, in an eerie haunted house way. Feeling too claustrophobic? They have a backyard with plentiful seating! There’s a restroom, always clean, with free tampons. There is a cafe with an excellent drinks menu and local baked goods, and wine and beer! The non book merch is soooo cute; it’s a struggle not to drop hundreds of dollars here. Pins, cards, stickers, jewelry, socks, tees, etc. The staff are all so warm and welcoming too. And the open hours are long, with lots of cool events in the evenings! Genuinely this is my favorite business in all of Brooklyn.”
“An amazing old style real book store! They have a huge selection of used books and new best sellers arrive every day. The owners are extremely knowledgeable and offer excellent choices. I read 2 to 3 books a week and absolutely love this store. There is nothing like turning the pages of a real book!”
“Liz’s Book Bar is the chic, stylish cousin of the classic indie bookstore. Some bookstores lean a little gritty (which I can also love), but LBB is clean and polished while still feeling completely independent. People are friendly. I heard several people strike up conversations (with strangers, to be clear). At one point I overheard a woman recognize another woman from TikTok and they started chatting. That kind of thing felt very normal here.
I came in for a drink with a friend who lives in the neighborhood and it was such a great space that I ended up asking the owner if I could host my discussion group (20-40 people depending on the night). A couple months later I held my Sad Rich Girl Salon at LBB and it was wonderful. The staff was so helpful and warm. Gave us mics. Cleared the floor and setup chairs. (Honestly, this event was better run than several of my “official” tour stops arranged by my publishing team.)
There was also a really cute moment where I met a woman who follows me on IG and had read my book and just happened to be at LBB that night (total coincidence). She bought a copy for her friend and asked me to sign it. it was one of those serendipitous moments that happen all the time in nyc but still feels so movie-like.
Added bonus: LBB sold out my book for the event
I only wish I lived closer because I’d be here all the time.”
“One of my favorite bookstores in NYC. Lots of great fiction, graphic novels, social justice oriented books, books by POC authors, and liberatory content, including People’s History posters and zines. I adore the vibe of this bookstore and the people who work here are warm, kind, and great at recommending perfect books. A staple Bed-Stuy establishment that represents the community in many ways. Please let this bookstore stay in our community for a long time ?”
“I’m surprised because they have a lot of books 📚 there 😍 I bought few Islamic books for my kids!!!
Salesman was so friendly and kind 🩷”
“Very nice customer service very impressed happy place and beautiful store the outside doesn't do it justice once you get to the basement it's really nice”
“Small business that is amazing. If you don't know what you want when you go in, they will absolutely help you... There's something for everyone in this little shop. Also has a ton of book signings every year!”
“The Spanish classes are so wonderful! I've found the instructors to be patient, kind, and amazing at encouraging students to speak up and learn in class. I've only take the virtual courses so far, which have been really engaging despite taking place online (where it may feel tough to speak up). All of the students were there to learn, which made class super fun and interesting. Thank you for the amazing TV, music, and movie recs too!”
“I ordered a book online. The customer service once I placed my order was top notch. I received notifications on each step and all links for tracking worked perfectly. The part I didn’t expect was the care surrounding packaging for transport. The packaging told me EVERYTHING I needed to know about Nicholas Brooklyn. If this type of packaging doesn’t show you they care about books… I really don’t know what else does. This shows they love books just as much as the person ordering. ??????”
“It is a good place to go to check ones clothing for Shatnez as well as many different sefarim and siddurim. It is a good place to get your Jewish books for yeshiva.”
“Such an adorable local graphic novel store that has an amazing catalog of books, zines, art from local and classic artists. Such a gem of a place, come support this awesome local bookstore.”
“Awesomeness at its best! It’s a lovely place to immerse yourself into new favourite writers! 💜 The staff is very friendly and welcoming! 💞”
“Like If a treehouse turned into a dreamy store pulling stars from the sky, weaving art from clouds, pressed flowers, and glittery aquarium soil, selling trinkets, ephemera, & zines made by the community”
“The store is beautiful and the service is outstanding. I needed a rush order for a personalized item, and they were incredibly accommodating without charging excessive fees. The customer service is excellent, they’re always available and eager to help. I will definitely be coming back!”
“I enjoyed buying my journals here, spent the afternoon wanting the eclectic assortment of goodies I brought back home. Compliments to your buyer's for one of a kind writing equipment and good picks for the naturalist that I am:) Thankful....”

“This is the place that I come to for all my Judaica. And I find that when I compare the price of an item I want to buy with other places on Kingston Ave, they always have the lowest price. Plus they are the nicest people. I come here because the customer service is great. And they are super helpful. I always get my mezuzos checked here. The service is quick. The mezuzos are always ready when they say they will be ready. And the price is right.”
“Ordered from their online store and received the package to my door in just a few days. Great prices and cordial service, most likely becoming my go-to seforim store. Thank you!”

“A neighborhood isn't a neighborhood without a good bookstore. I'm so grateful to have a GREAT bookstore in our neighborhood. Experienced staff and a wonderful vibe, great to browse, find gifts, and discover your next life-changing read.”
“Came upon this used bookstore by chance and I’m so glad I did. They have a really cute and cozy seating area with more seating than I’ve seen at any NY bookstore. We sat and looked at some books and left with a large haul including hardcovers and paid less than $20. The owner was also super nice. I hope to be back again!”

“This bookstore has a long and illustrious history serving New York and probably the whole of the USA.
has possibly the largest selection of all Seforim published.
the staff Rabbi Ahron b is especially helpful and has a great knowledge of his stock and also able to obtain anything he himself doesn't have in stock.”
“this place is, um, how shall I say it… frickin’ awesome sauce? their angela davis section is totally amazeballs. there’s a writer there named ursula le guin lol???? i WILL be back after i finish watching the new DUNE movie because sometimes the books ARE better than the movie!!!! except that one!!!!!!”
“I realized I didn't order a Talis for the high holidays / wasn't sure which I should get. Called 1/2 hour before they were closing, spoke to a friendly gentleman who asked some questions, gave some great advice and took the order over the phone. I got it the next day (They are in NY, I am in NJ).
All businesses should be as good!”
“Placed an order for three books here (September), and they arrived in fantastic condition (October which was the expected timing they had told me) packaged so well and with the most utmost care I can ask for as a collector for this series! On the website, they did say it'll take about a month to come from Russia, which I was fine waiting for, and once it arrived at their store, they immediately sent me an email saying it would be shipped the same day to me.Overall, I am thrilled with the way they handled my order and would definitely order/visit the store again in the near future! I’m already looking to place another order again for my friend’s birthday.Thank you again!”
“Just received my book. Very happy with it. Great price, almost the same price as Israel! Fast shipping - Ordered my book on a Wednesday and it arrived by my door on Monday!”
“Polish American grew up in the states. One of the nicest things was brining my Polish wife from Poland who was a bit homesick to a polish bookstore. My surprise is you find new books in stock that are hot in Poland and many others.”

“One of the best selections in the area despite the size. I can always find something I was looking for and more that I didn’t even know I was looking for. The prices are great and the staff is friendly.”
“Beautiful ambiance. Very cutesy decor. Nice bar downstairs and it has a backyard. Black woman owned bookstore and bar in Bedstuy ! Staff were super nice and friendly. Would love to visit again in warmer months. My only complaints are 1. I sat downstairs at the bar for 30 minutes without service. Went back upstairs and was told by the one worker upstairs that I need to order my drink with him, pay for It there, then give him a few minutes to come downstairs to serve me. Very confusing but I think that was based on short staffing issue because later on, there was a bartender downstairs at the actual bar.
2. a glass of wine cost about $17 and it’s barely half a glass ? seems overpriced to me. Otherwise this is a dope spot.”
