“I live one block from this iconic establishment is so incredibly special and unique and just feels like old New York and certainly is an icon and a staple here in the Williamsburg area. The solution books is truly overwhelming from classic books to fashion to coffee table to not to mention the incredible stationary cards and pins. The staff is so lovely and it’s great location and just always consistent. Great service. I have here all the time they have the best coffee table books ever for the perfect gift to bring to a hose for their party. I love it so much. It’s one of the last remaining actual genuine, authentic Williamsburg establishments.”
“It’s actually insane how perfect this store is. It has a phenomenal assortment of books with a creative layout by subgenre. Want splatterpunk? Horror romance? Literary? They’ve got sections for it! The dim lighting and dark paint makes the space feel incredibly cozy and comforting, in an eerie haunted house way. Feeling too claustrophobic? They have a backyard with plentiful seating! There’s a restroom, always clean, with free tampons. There is a cafe with an excellent drinks menu and local baked goods, and wine and beer! The non book merch is soooo cute; it’s a struggle not to drop hundreds of dollars here. Pins, cards, stickers, jewelry, socks, tees, etc. The staff are all so warm and welcoming too. And the open hours are long, with lots of cool events in the evenings! Genuinely this is my favorite business in all of Brooklyn.”

I found exactly what I was looking for in this bookstore, and then Yisroel suggested another book I may be interested in… and it was exactly the book that was on my mind before I even said anything! “The Spanish classes are so wonderful! I've found the instructors to be patient, kind, and amazing at encouraging students to speak up and learn in class. I've only take the virtual courses so far, which have been really engaging despite taking place online (where it may feel tough to speak up). “Came upon this used bookstore by chance and I’m so glad I did. They have a really cute and cozy seating area with more seating than I’ve seen at any NY bookstore. We sat and looked at some books and left with a large haul including hardcovers and paid less than $20. The owner was also super nice. I hope to be back again!”

“Not only are the books are magic in this “books of magic“ store it is also the people who work there and the beautiful books they have there. I am happy to have my book in their store. What I like about books or magic is that they always write up a review, about books, placing their review in front of the book you get a chance to see what it is before you read. They also have T-shirts. If you are in a wheelchair, come on in because you will be able to roll right into the store. So much going on there thank you so much books are magic.”

“Beautiful ambiance. Very cutesy decor. Nice bar downstairs and it has a backyard. Black woman owned bookstore and bar in Bedstuy ! Staff were super nice and friendly. Would love to visit again in warmer months. My only complaints are 1. I sat downstairs at the bar for 30 minutes without service. Went back upstairs and was told by the one worker upstairs that I need to order my drink with him, pay for It there, then give him a few minutes to come downstairs to serve me. Very confusing but I think that was based on short staffing issue because later on, there was a bartender downstairs at the actual bar.
2. a glass of wine cost about $17 and it’s barely half a glass ? seems overpriced to me. Otherwise this is a dope spot.”
