“i thought this would be like a shelter or adoption clinic, but as the name suggests, it's a cafe. Lots of kids around when I went on the weekend so it seemed the cats were on alert. Some beautiful cats though, cleary well cared for.”

“I recently visited the children's museum of Brooklyn with my daughter, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. The museum offers a wide range of activities and exhibits that are both educational and entertaining for children. One of the highlights of our visit was the traditional Brooklyn mock shops. My daughter absolutely loved playing in these mini shops, pretending to be a shopkeeper or a customer. It was a great way for her to learn about different types of shops and how they function. The museum also had interactive exhibits that allowed children to explore various scientific concepts through hands-on activities. My daughter had a blast experimenting with different materials and learning about cause and effect. The staff at the museum were friendly and helpful, and they made sure that the children had a safe and enjoyable experience. The museum was clean and well-maintained, and there were plenty of seating areas for parents to relax while their children played.Overall, I highly recommend the children's museum of Brooklyn. It provides a fun and educational environment for children to learn and play. My daughter had a great time, and we will definitely be visiting again in the future.”

“Looking forward to checking out this shop soon. I grew up in San Francisco, the OG 826. Some of these negative comments are clearly from people who didn't bother to look up the website or read any of the reviews. The store front is meant to be gimmicky, targeting younger school age children. Though some adults may enjoy it too, depending on your personality. The proceeds support the 826 nonprofit which provides tutoring and literacy programs for children. There are locations throughout the country and each adjoining storefront features a different theme. NYC is superheroes. San Francisco is pirates. Don't know what the other stores are. I visited the one in LA but can't remember its theme anyway, if you're treating this as a normal retail space and expecting dirt cheap prices, you're missing the whole point. Cheers! Be kind to everyone.”

“Great experience, professional and cordial staff at Recycle-A-Bicycle center today—they checked chains, brakes, and overall functionality of my bike I requested for a service inspection of my bicycle. They reassured me it's good to go, all without any service charge. That was lovely.”

“National Sawdust is a visual treat. The concert I most recently attended was set up in their extremely intimate cabaret set up, but I have done standing room shows in the venue too. It’s always comfortable, and there is no bad view in the house. The acoustics and speaker design are also perfect, ensuring you hear everything with precision. This is, hands down, one of the best venues in NYC and the world!”

“Such a great gem for fabric shopping! And there’s so much variety. I made an appointment online to shop before coming. Make sure to read their directions on how to get there before going. They sell fabric by the yard, scrap fabric for $5/pound, salvageable clothing for $5/pound, and lots of notions. By the yard fabric is sorted by type. Scrap fabric is sorted by color. There’s lots of bins with buttons and elastic. I got loads of elastic for $1/yard.Scraps ranged in sizes, most were about a yard (not full width) from what I could see, but I found some that were 2-3 yards as well. Lots of leather/fur pieces too! The clothing is all damaged but can be mended or repurposed. Some have markings. I picked up some madewell dresses/rompers to repurpose into shorts and a J crew dress to use for quilting. This is a must go if you’re into upcycling or making your own clothes! Once I sew through my stash, I’m coming back to volunteer and get some nice knit fabrics I spied ?”

“This place is a one-stop shop for all your needs. They have swim classes, after school, summer camp, and much more. I enrolled my child in their summer camp, and I thought it would be low cost or free due to it being advertised as a non-profit organization, but it was about $3000 for summer camp. With that being said, if you're able to afford it, go ahead because it is well worth it. The children go on trips about 3 days out the week, and the trips are age appropriate and fun. They also go on an overnight trip to upstate NY at no additional cost. My daughter didn't want to go to summer camp but after her first day she couldn't wait to go back. The staff are all very, very, very nice and really seem to enjoy their jobs.”

“I cannot say enough good things about this after school program! They take amazing care of the children, and truly put their health and wellness at the forefront. The cur after school curriculum includes daily help with homework, music, and playing games. The program hosts parties for the students such as a Halloween party, a Thanksgiving luncheon, and a Thanksgiving dinner. A Christmas party is being planned, in which snacks and gifts will be given out. It is a great service to the community as well for the parents. Everyone who works at the center is very friendly. Most importantly, they have a great rapport with the students. Overall, I feel blessed to be volunteering at this establishment. In my many years volunteering at Children of Promise, I have seen many young people that started young and came back as teenagers to “give back”. They are giving the younger ones the same nurturing they received at that age.”

“I am starting this review with some negatives but I it's a five star at the end. I am a trans person with limited resources and have shopped at 14th, 25th, Brooklyn and a store in the 80's for a few years. Each time I was gawked at, treated horrendously and even had managers sales peeps make crude jokes at my expense. I decided to never to shop at Goodwill anywhere again because of these experiences.By chance a few days ago I was in Brooklyn and as I was passing the store the window grabbed my attention. I needed something to wear for a party over the weekend. I thought "what the hell maybe this time will be different" and IT WAS.There was a white guy near the entrance who greeted me and asked how my day was. I asked where women's dresses were and instead of pointing walked me over and asked if I need help finding something. At first I didn't but then realized I was overwhelmed by the choices. I grabbed a few to try on, saw the guy again and asked if he could help me choose. A kind woman let me into a dressing room. The guy stayed in the area and gave honest comments about the dresses.I went in for one dress and bought five of the ones I tried on. I asked his name and I should have written it down. I have no idea what he does in the store but he deserves a raise, a bonus or something, I have never been treated so kindly. To whoever reads these the store has never looked cleaner, organized or had some many cool pieces,. Thank you for making at least one of your stores feel inclusive and welcoming. I can't wait to stop in again.5 stars for Goodwill on Livingston street!”

“I took the guided tour and really enjoyed the view I got into history from the mid nineteenth century to the early twentieth century. The fight against slavery, the universal suffrage movement, Black nationalism and self-determination are all stories you'll hear about as you step through the homes of this historic community that was almost lost to time but for a few determined folks back in the sixties who discovered the history, unearthed the artifacts, and saved the historic structures. The guide had tons of knowledge to share and did a great job painting a picture of historic Weeksville and its inspiring residents. The tour ended in a well designed, interactive exhibit hall. I recommend a visit to anyone interested in the history of New York and lesser known American histories.”

“New arts center near the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn. The old powerhouse was brilliantly adopted by famous architects Herzog and De Meuron, reminding me of the architects' Tate Gallery in London or for that matter the Neues Museum in Berlin (though by a different architect).”

“I was born and raised in Brooklyn and have many fond memories of Prospect Part in the 60s through the 80s. I’ve known the park in good time and bad. Leaving the NY area for most of the last 40 years I fell out of touch with the park. When I left in 1980 the park was in decline. I’m retired now and have moved back to the area. Today I returned to the park for the first time in a long while. I was blown away. WOW! I don’t know how long the Alliance has been running the park but they are doing an amazing job.”
