“I injured my back in late December and I was looking for a place that had space and equipment to help with my rehab. I live near Terri’s so I decided to check it out and I found the Crown Jewel of Hertel Ave fitness. All the staff from housekeeping to the front desk were friendly and helpful. The facility is spotless and well maintained. They had everything available that I could ask for from yoga classes, room to stretch and any equipment I needed. They also offer boxing, cycling, fitness classes and personal training that I did not use but based on my experience there I bet it’s great! I highly recommend this gym!”

“Truly is the best hour of my day! Before joining, I was lifting at the gym inconsistently for a few years. After only a few months, I’m already making progress in my lifts and cardiovascular endurance. The environment is warm and welcoming, and the staff is amazing!
I ended up breaking my wrist recently and have been continuously supported by the staff with modified workouts and encouragement. I am proud to have still been able to work on my goals and get my monthly sticker :) The staff truly cares about their athletes and has at least monthly check ins to make sure athletes are working towards their goals.
I am proud to be a part of the AP family, and I am excited to see what else my body is capable of in the future :)”

“QDA is a positive and inclusive fitness community in which anyone can get health benefits if they put in the work. It doesn't matter if you're 300 lbs with a 30 inch waist and you live on raw horse liver and can bench press a dump truck... or if you rip filterless Winstons, can't walk up a flight of stairs and eat stinger subs with extra mayo all day. There's something for everyone. There's even occasionally a puppers or two. The music is alright. The floor is usually clean. Weights are usually organized. Not too many meatheads. All and all it's pretty swell.”
“Fantastic strength gym in Western New York for everyone from seasoned powerlifters interested in great coaching to increase their overall total to basic strength training for beginners this gym is a friendly place to join.Highly recommended!!”
“Orangetheory is amazing. I spend 60 minutes working out with excellent and motivating coaches and all around phenomenal energy from the entire class. There is no way I would push myself this much if I was working out on my own or even with a one-on-one trainer. There is some magic about the combination of coaching, ever changing workout templates, and the class's energy. I highly encourage new members to try the challenges (thank you Bri for encouraging me) as they really motivate you to push yourself beyond your normal pace. Outside of class I feel more energetic and have noticed it's easier to hike, bike, and ski without feeling worn out. Thank you to the amazing coaches and staff who show up and always have positive energy to keep everybody nudging towards improvements!!”

No matter what your goals are Ashley, Chris and the team at Tailored Fitness will be able to help you get there and you'll have fun along the way!”

“I've been going to Boxstar for the last year and a half. My last class is this week before I leave town AND I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT IT. ?❤All of the head trainers are AMAZING. The same can most definitely be said of all the other staff as well. I'm an early morning class person and it's honestly the best feeling to start the day with having punched and kicked a million times and doing circuits in such good company.I was primarily a gym goer to facilities with just weight and cardio stations and machines. Boxstar was such a game changer. Being someone with limited mobility and rotation in my leg, fitness classes can be really mentally exhausting because more often than not, classes and trainers of large groups aren't able to help with modifications because of large class size or the class just moves at a very fast pace - not an issue here. I feel more than comfortable talking to any trainer here, even the ones that aren't regulars with me and feel confident that they really do care and will take a beat in class before/during/after class to check in with me.I really have been spoiled here. Each trainer brings their own style to their classes - you'll definitely find whatever you're looking for in boxing and circuit training classes, martial arts and private training is also offered. If you're in Buffalo, you're really missing out if you haven't stopped by here yet. This gym is definitely the place I'll miss most leaving the 716!!!!”

“My son and INSTANTLY fell in love with this place. If you're looking for a boxing gym you can eat off of, this isn't your place. If you're looking for that tuff, rugged gym where you can REALLY learn....THIS is your place!Want to be taught by "thinks" he knows boxing, or by an ex heavyweight... Billy is not just knowledgeable, but a great role model that Doesn't pull any punches....?”

“I’ve been to this park many times and it’s always enjoyable. A perfect place for exercising, walking dogs, and having picnics. There’s benches, garbage bins, and even a book box that you’re free to take and leave books in. Lots of trees that you can sit under to get out of the sun. However, I wouldn’t come here if it’s rained at all. The grass often gets a bit flooded and it takes a while to dry completely. Also a great place for sledding in the winter time.Restrooms: No restrooms are available or nearbyDog-friendliness: People often bring their dogs here and let them run around off leash.Picnic area: There’s no picnic tables or grills but it’s perfect for a sit on a blanket type of picnic.”

“I was briefly passing through town, and wanted to get a quick workout in before I caught my bus. This place happened to be close to the bus station, so I asked if I could pay for a single session. The owner was incredibly nice and let me come in and do a workout for free. The gym itself is great. Nice, well-maintained equipment, and a good layout. And the aesthetic is like no other gym I've ever been to. Plus, a great smoothie bar.”
“My daughter is brand new to cheer but she is so excited to join the BASE squad this year. She loves learning the moves and she absolutely adores Coach Yanni. The facility is being upgraded and it looks great so far. New flooring, equipment, the whole nine yards. Everyone I’ve encountered so far has been very helpful and pleasant. I’m looking forward to being a part of the BASE family for years to come.”

“We held a collaborative event here on 5/18/24 and it was wonderful. Every employee we encountered was friendly and went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make our experience amazing. Our guests continued to comment how beautiful the space was, too!”
“First time here for open play and it was awesome. I love that they limit the amount of kids in the session. My girl is 11 months and she had a ball climbing, crawling and running around. Wonderful staff..especially ms. Jasmine! Appeared very clean. I love that parents could also engage. We will be back. We hope to try out a fress class session for my daughters age group. This was the hertel location. Thank you for making this a great experience.”
“The facilities are quite excellent. The sauna has just recently been completely refurbished and is quite nice.I'd give it 5 stars if only some of the patrons there could realize that the sauna/hot tub/steam room are often a place where a person wants to experience a bit of relaxing solitude instead of hearing folks discuss the minutiae of their daily experiences AT THE LOUDEST POSSIBLE SPEAKING LEVEL.I took to the swimming pool to escape someone's conversation about accounting and, no word of exaggeration, I could still hear them droning on from the far end of the pool with my ears under water.I am not supposing that people not be allowed to speak to one another whatsoever, but it's fairly rude and oblivious to have to endure people as much as shouting to someone two feet away from them in what might otherwise be a placid aquatic environment.Still, it's not implicitly the YMCA's responsibility for thee LOUD TALKERS WITH NO SELF-AWARENESS, but it doesn't make the experience bthe Haven of quietude that some of us seek.”

“Joining a fitness center can be intimidating if you’re not in the best shape or don’t own the latest brand of activewear. Fortunately, that’s not the case at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Buffalo, which has one of the best gyms in Western New York. By “best,” I mean well-equipped, clean and well-organized, and reassuringly down-to-earth. Established in 1948, the JCC has two locations: the Benderson Family Building, about a 20- minute drive from Buffalo, and the Holland Family Building, a 5-minute drive to downtown. The Holland gym has a combination of cardio machines, including ellipticals, stationary bikes, treadmills, and rowing machines, as well as weight machines and free weights. There are also plenty of classes, though I haven’t taken advantage of one yet.The fitness staff are friendly and there to help and encourage you, not browbeat you. You might also experience a laidback camaraderie with your fellow exercisers—people of various ages and walks of life, sweating side-by-side in unspoken solidarity. Most of us aren’t training for the Olympics—we simply want to reclaim muscle tone, maintain a healthy weight, release stress, and maybe add a few years to our lives. If you want to take care of yourself, I encourage you to try the JCC. And if you’re a parent with young kids, check out the preschool. My daughter went through the preK program, and she thrived. She even learned how to swim in the JCC pool as a toddler.”

“I recently joined Catalyst a few days ago and couldn't be happier with the exceptional service I got from the salesperson, Mike. This is my first ever google review and I felt compelled to share my fantastic experience.I first spoke with Mike over the phone and he was able to answer all my questions and set up an appointment for me to come in and get a tour. From the moment I walked into the gym, Mike's professionalism and enthusiasm were evident. He greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel right at home. Mike took the time to listen to my current circumstances and tailored a membership package that was perfect for me.Throughout the entire process, Mike was patient and attentive, answering all my questions and addressing any concerns I had.Mike's exceptional customer service extended beyond the initial sign-up. He followed up with me to ensure I was settling in well and it was clear he genuinely cares about the well-being of the gym's members. I came in with a friend who was not signing up (at least that day), and he even gave him 2 free day passes to the gym! What I like about Catalyst, is that it's not just a gym but more like a community. People like Mike, is why going local in Buffalo will always be better than going to national franchises. This location on elmwood is currently undergoing renovations on one side and I am excited to see what the gym ends up looking like when it's done.TL:DR: If you're considering joining Catalyst Fitness on Elmwood, I wholeheartedly recommend seeking out Mike for your membership needs.”
