“Like another reviewer said, coming in here is an experience. David and Peter are just two awesome guys of the community. It’s something out of a movie. The shop is chaotic and disorganized, sure. But they will go up and out of their way to ensure you get what you need and will give you the time of day for even odd hyper specific requests. I was trying to build a guitar pedalboard but make it very customized with a pretty specific thing in mind… but I didn’t really have exact dimensions. David spent off and on about 1-2 hours going through the store and talking me through what I needed and how to do it. Pros and cons. I personally think I can be annoying with some of the trying to understand the how and why but they don’t make you feel that way.
TL;DR: being in there feels like an irl sitcom while also getting very practical help and things.”

I cannot say enough amazing things about Carlos at Mazzone Ace Hardware! He truly went above and beyond in a way you rarely see anymore.
I came in looking for a key solution, and instead of just selling me something standard, Carlos came up with a genius idea: he figured out a way to switch out the lock so I could use the existing keys I had already purchased.
To top it all off, he actually skipped his own lunch just to make sure my keys were cut perfectly (200 of them) and I was taken care of. He is incredibly generous, sweet, and a absolute lifesaver. Mazzone Ace Hardware has a customer for life thanks to Carlos. If you need anything, go see him!”
“I mean, this is a place that understands what customers are and how to serve them. Every time I go in I get what a hotel or a high-end clothing boutique would advertise as 'concierge service' or 'personal shopping provided' but here it's just someone who's interested in listening to my problem, examining whatever I brought with me, making helpful suggestions, disappearing into the bolt archives for 5 mins, and coming back and charging me like $4.38 for a sale they just spent 10 minutes of their time on.
You can get someone to help you at Lowes or Home Depot, but you can't assume they're gonna do so in a way that makes it clear they want you to keep coming back. I will keep going back to Greschler's”

“Needed help with door lock in new apt in NYC. Sky was recommended by my supt--and they were fantastic. Not only fixed the lock (which involved some complicated readjusting of plates and bolt) but also helped me figure out why door was continuing to stick (such that it wouldn't open) and then addressed THAT with general handyman skills at no extra charge. Fee was actually less than originally quoted. Couldn't have been nicer or more professional. Highly recommend.”

“Best selection of hardware in Astoria other than going to the LIC or Lex 59th Home Depot. Prices are reasonable, $1.60 out the door for a small box of fasteners! They take credit card for sub ten dollar purchases as well.
My two gripes are 1. that not everything is labeled with a price and 2. that the hours and days of the week the store is open are limited. Other than that, no notes. Shop at local small businesses!”

“This place is the best! Knowledgeable, friendly and patient! They are well stocked for a mom and pop shop. Been here since I was a kid. I came at closing like Banana head bad customer but they stayed open and helped me till I have every nut and bolt for an emergency job!”

“First I'd like to say the customer service from whoever answered the phone to the many knowledgeable employees they have on the floor to always help is amazing . I went there to get keys made but wasn't coming back in the area for a week so I wa Ted confirmation if the keys didn't work was ok to come back a week later with them ? The answer was a resounding YES NOT A ISSUE !!! Well the keys were cut perfectly (5) in total . Great place and if in the area of Columbia University I suggest 100 % use them for your hardware needs !”
