“This bike shop is amazing. We called for them to build a bicycle we purchased online. They took us in the same day and had the bike built, tuned, and ready for pickup the next morning! They treated us like family, made sure we understood all aspects of the new bike, and were extremely welcoming and knowledgeable.
We bought some accessories for the bike and they mounted everything we bought from racks to bells to water bottle holders! They have a full stock of clothing, bicycle accessories, bells, tools, replacement tires, and a wide selection of bicycles for purchase, from starter to high end. We instantly became life long customers! This family owned bike shop really cares about their customers. Extra points for having an adorable doggy!”

Felt like he balanced needed replacements/services with suggested improvements/products well without feeling like he was upselling or pushing an agenda. “Been coming here for years and let me tell you! None of these bike shops will ever compare to Dixon’s customer service, turn around time & sturdiest repairs in NYC. I’m skeptical about most shops, I walk in here and I know I will be taken care of. It’s family runned, black-owned and has the coolest bike facility I’ve ever witnessed. Also the guy will educate you and answer your questions if need be. Top shop, no doubt. Go show them full on love and support.”

“Bicycle Roots is one of those special shops where they aren’t interested in shallow transactional exchanges but instead invest themselves in building a deep relationship with you and your experience riding your bicycle. I’ve worked with the shop on two custom builds: my beloved Ritchey Outback gravel bike and my sturdy Surly Long Haul Trucker. In both cases I was struck not only by the quality and meticulousness of the craft they poured into the build, but also by the patient communication they put into making sure I understood every key decision they were making, giving me context to help me steer things in a different direction when I was confused, and helping me have peace of mind that the choices we landed on were choices that would serve me for years of seeking joy on my bike. This kind of deep personal involvement, in which the mechanics are not only knowledgeable, but eager to share their knowledge with you in a generous and empowering way is all too rare in bike shops. It takes a level of humility and kindness one is lucky to come across in one’s friends, not to mention a commercial relationship. I feel lucky to count the staff at Bicycle Roots as my friends, and I hope that if you’re reading this, you take the time to invest as deeply in the shop as I have done. They will reciprocate every ounce of investment, and you’ll come out of it not only with a bike you can depend on for years to come, but a relationship of which you can say the same thing.”
“Can't recommend this place enough. Riding for 10+ years, never got a fit. Got a fit done with Greg and learned a ton as we played around with my setup on their custom fit machine/tech. Fit had amazing results on performance and comfort.
I also asked for recommendations to upgrade my current ride or for a new bike entirely, and Greg came back with a range of options across groupsets, wheelsets, and new rides.
Fast forward a few months, I got all the upgrades recommended for my existing ride and it's a totally different bike. Super comfy, fast and responsive. Can't ask for more. They even recommended a great (my new favorite) bike shop in the area, Tuned, to help do the install.
Overall 10/10 experience cant recommend these guys enough. If you are thinking about working with Acme, do it. You won't regret it!”
“all these different people are talking about how rude and expensive the people and store are but i bought a flip board today and they let me slide $1.63 because he saw i didn't have the exact change and they also put the grip tape on the board likity split. have no bad memories only good ones from this place, imma pull up tmro and buy wheels and some stickers. 10/10 would recommend and WILL RETURN.”

“Cannot say enough positive things about this place! On a new road bike and my first ride in 10 years, had an unfortunate clip in SNAFU by the bridge that damaged my bike and made it unrideable. Thankfully I was within walking distance of the shop and within an hour it was completely fixed, along with a set of pedals that were a better match for my shoes/bike. I rode about 30 miles after without a hitch and the team was kind and friendly the entire time.”

We do recognize that this shop is for pro-cyclists. Ed's doing a favor if he's fixing and tuning your kids' or folding or cruiser bike. It's charity work for him, even if he's charging for it.
Although it not been our experience, did hear one customer suggest they wipe hard-to-reach spots when they tune-up or take wheels apart.”
