“I came to this specific location because I needed a specific color that was sold out on ALL other locations. Not only did they have that color available but they also put it aside for when I was able to pick it up.”

“I was deciding between Baer and Benjamin Moore colors and only stopped in at Sherwin because it's blocks from.my apartment. I was immediately greeted by Kevin Corcoran who not only helped me decide on colors but also the type of finish and the right brand (low VOC). I wasn't aware Sherwin had all these choices. I have also sent my contractor to this location for his other customers. Thank you Kevin.”

“I didn’t realize I needed a favorite paint store, but I have one. Their customer service is FANTASTIC! And they have everything. They’ll truly go above and beyond to help you with any project.”

“GREAT store with GREAT service -- Eddie was so knowledgable, good at explaining pros and cons, asking helpful questions, and willing to share opinions and experiences when asked. While I was making decisions he served three customers without hurry, one of whom was a professional and two who were laypeople like me, and each received excellent service. Highly highly recommend!”

“There associates are quite nice but I was new to buying paint and when I called to place my order, they picked the most expensive can of paint without my knowing. It was too late by the time I went to pay and was told the price.”

“I highly recommend Sky Locksmith! Eli was fantastic! He came to fix a tough lock and immediately saw what was wrong and fixed it so quickly with a smile on his face. My other lock was also having issues, which wasn't part of the job, and when I casually asked about it after he was done with the first, he happily diagnosed the issue and fixed it again so quickly. He was super professional and you can tell he definitely knows what he's doing. A real pro!”

“This is the only hardware store in the neighborhood with a decent paint selection that sells sample sizes for small projects for $6.99 each. Friendly, helpful and patient staff!”

“I go to this store almost every other day. Yes they are pricey - it's New York. It's the UWS. That's to be expected. But they are so darn convenient. And yes the staff aren't the warmest or fuzziest, it's a hardware store not Brandy Melville. Look, in my experience it's a good place for a quick one or two item purchase. A key cut. In 'n out fast. Nobody is starting relationships here.”

“Incredible service and knowledge. I went in with a problem regarding a irreplaceable broken door know that 3 hardware stores didn’t even both trying to help with.Their knowledge, skill set and commitment for the job done. Going no where else for my hardware needs!”

“Great hardware store, used to be huge, still has almost everything in a smaller space, but they kept the staff and they're extremely knowledgeable, which is what's important, I go for the expertise of the people working there.”

“Great hardware store! Found everything we needed, from a stepladder to replacement blades for a box cutter. And the gentleman who assisted us very kindly installed the new blade on the box cutter. Really nice to have this in my mother's new neighborhood. The friendly help was much appreciated. We were tired and cranky, so didn't really explore the store. The sales associate actually found everything for us except the extension cord, which was literally under my nose at the front of the store.”

“My one problem is that they don't deliver. I purchased 12 Gallons of paint and had no way to get them home. I was willing to pay for a delivery but it just wasn't available. A gallon of paint is approximately 20 pounds. Arrangements should be available for delivery.”

“Five stars and I didn't even buy anything -- which is the point. Yesterday I needed some exterior-grade plywood, which they didn't have, so I thought I'd buy standard plywood and paint/varnish it, but the guy persuaded me that it wouldn't work for long. In other words, he'd rather be honest than make money off an ill-informed customer who's not even a regular. I'd definitely go back here. Really helpful people.”

“Located on First Avenue Ace Hardware is ideally situated for the residents of Stuyvesant Town. Of course they have many other neighborhood customers that also frequent the store. A lot of products are available from Benjamin Moore paints, games for children, gardening supplies to a multitude of cleaning products. I was in search for Bluette which I used to buy at Essex Market but after the pandemic was no longer stocked there. Here Mrs. Stewart's Concentrated Bluing was similar and I was delighted to finally find it. This is a product that I like to use for sheets and towels. Bottles of Soft scrub are sold for $4.99 which is the cheapest I have found. Keys are also cut here although one will be questioned if one stays at Stuyvesant Town as that's forbidden. Employees here are friendly and helpful taking customers to show them where the product is located.”

“Antonio is seriously the best!!! He has helped us the last few times we came in and he's so helpful and patient. We needed to color match paint and we gave him the worst sample and he figured it out for us. He was super helpful finding the rest of supplies and I appreciated how he gave us the store brand to help us save money. Could not recommend him and this store more!!!”

“I popped in this morning for some last minute supplies for a cleaning job. I'm pretty versed in city pricing and I have to say I was impressed. The people that work there are all very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this store because of the pricing, the customer service and the variety of stock options.”

“Great place! I barely noticed it because of the scaffold, but glad I found a good hardware store on my route to work. They have pretty much everything the big chain stores have except the staff at this place knows their stuff about hardware and DIY projects.”

“The best key cutters in the business with the friendliest staff. Been going here for locksmith and key services for years - no one does it better. Always greeted with a smile. Will absolutely return!”

“I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience thus far working with Kathryn Anderson, the Hunter Douglas Design Consultant Specialist at Janovic on 3rd and 84th. Kathryn worked with me TIRELESSLY for months as I sorted through every possible option of shades for my new apartment. I also went to the Shade Store many times, but the customer service and prices were far better with Kathryn and Hunter Douglas. Kathryn was so kind and patient, knowledgeable and all around helpful. I was probably her most difficult customer ever - indecisive and picky with a million questions and changes - but she never showed any frustration with me. I will update this review after the shades are delivered, but regarding the ordering process, I was very lucky to work with Kathryn. She's a true professional!”

Can't wait to get back and discover more this hardware store has to offer, looks like I will be checking a lot of boxes off on my home improvement list!”
