“A wonderful experience recently at the Container Store in White Plains NY. I called ahead to make a design appointment for library shelving. I spoke with Alexander who was very helpful and knowledgeable in response to my preliminary questions. I made an appointment with Alexander for a few days later. When I arrived (a little early), the manager was expecting me and called me by my name, assuring me Alexander would be available momentarily (on time). Alexander worked with me swiftly and skillfully to confirm my design and place the order. Overall, it was a very positive experience and I appreciate the White Plains, NY team.”

“This is a review of one specific location (White Plains at the Westchester Mall), on one specific day (a wintry afternoon in February 2022), and one specific person (Sonia), but it also happens to be a review of my entire journey with Crate for 15+ years.
When I had my first job in NYC, I used to frequent Crate and its funky cousin, CB2, down in Soho.
Recently, I needed some new furnishings and had the great fortune to stumble into the store and speak with Sonia. She was not only design savvy (as in, I trusted her design judgment and aesthetic recommendations), but she was also engaging, dynamic, and fun. Elevated customer service. She's the type of person I would like to work with (or for) if I ever left the comfort of my home office.
She made the furniture-purchasing experience stress-free and enjoyable. If I could give her a raise myself, I would.
Also, I had only a brief exchange, but the manager of the store (Allisa) gave off really good vibes--and let's face it, retail is all about vibes.
The White Plains store is beautiful, clean, spacious, and thoughtfully laid out. I find myself visiting a few times a year--even when I don't need anything, just for inspiration.
This time I needed a ton of furniture, and I'm glad I chose this place over the competition.
Plus, Crate does a lot of business with Europe (including my motherland, Poland), and they seem to be making a bigger push toward the sustainability / fair trade / support-local-artisans movement. I hope they continue moving in that direction.”
