“As stated earlier you might think the sign to this store leads you to a smoke shop but just look for where the shopping carts are and go in through that door to the immediate right of the smoke shop and you will find a cozy store that looks a little shabby but has some fantastic buys. I happened to be driving through the town and just looked over at the strip mall and saw the big Oriental market sign and absolutely checked it out for nothing but pure curiosity. They have a whole lot of ingredients that you're not going to find at big box stores like h Mart or the supermarket in Middletown. Lots of rice seasonings, pickles and sauces. There are also some fresh ingredients like baby bok choy but the star of the show where the Frozen authentic Chinese soup dumplings and steamed buns. Probably saw my favorites I've ever had even more so than the ones I get at the Korean grocery store. There's an elderly gentleman who helps you out with everything if you have any questions and he's very happy to do so. Looking forward to going back there again.”

“I love this place. For a small market they have a great selection. They are clean, organized, and have a good selection of everyday essentials as well as specialty items, Their prices are decent, and the staff is very friendly.”
“We really like going to this store. It's always so clean and well stocked. I always find things i did not know i needed, but I needed.? like I bought a tortilla maker. Guess I'll start making tortillas.
It's a great store, pricey, yes, but good. Very good store. A win for the residents of that neighborhood. ✋?✋?”
“La Poblanita Meat Market is truly a gem in the community! From the moment you walk in, you can tell that this store is run with pride, care, and attention to detail. I’ve visited a few times while staying in the area, and every single experience has been pleasant, consistent, and welcoming. Whether you’re coming in to pick up something quick or doing a full grocery run, the environment feels inviting and comfortable.
The first thing I noticed was how clean and organized everything is. The counters, shelves, and display cases are always spotless, and the meat section is very well-maintained. You can immediately see that the products are fresh and handled properly. The cuts of meat always look high-quality — nicely trimmed, neatly wrapped, and clearly labeled. It’s obvious that the staff takes great pride in offering customers food that’s not only affordable but also fresh and safe.
The prices here are also very reasonable, especially compared to some larger stores. You can get excellent quality without breaking your budget. It’s refreshing to see a business that still values fairness and community instead of just focusing on profit. For families and visitors alike, that makes a big difference.
The service is another reason this place deserves recognition. The employees are always respectful, attentive, and genuinely kind. Every time I’ve come in, I’ve been greeted with a smile, and if I had a question, someone was ready to help right away. Even when the store is busy, the staff remains calm, patient, and efficient. It feels like they really appreciate every customer who walks through the door, which creates a warm and positive atmosphere.
On top of the great service and quality, there’s a welcoming, family-oriented feeling that makes La Poblanita stand out. The people who work here clearly know their regulars, and even for someone like me visiting from out of town, they made me feel comfortable and appreciated. That type of connection is something you don’t find everywhere anymore, and it really shows that this business values people just as much as the products they sell.
Overall, I’ve had nothing but good experiences at this store. It’s clean, affordable, and friendly — everything you could want in a neighborhood market. The meat is always fresh, the service is respectful, and the atmosphere makes you want to come back again. I’ll definitely keep returning whenever I’m in the area and will recommend La Poblanita Meat Market to anyone looking for great quality, fair prices, and excellent customer care.
This store deserves five stars all the way around for cleanliness, value, friendliness, and consistency. I’m truly impressed every time I visit — and it’s clear that this place is run with love and dedication to the community.”
“I ordered a sandwich from the beautiful Senorita who cooks, and the gentleman in the store was very nice. Praying for the Muslim community in the time of reverence if Ramadan. May God bless you and do a new thing in the lives of the believer.”
“I recently moved up to Poughkeepsie and found this market and I must say they have lots of interesting things my caribbean and west indian fruits and vegetables and their fish is really good too.... I met the owners and they were extremely nice and all the employees were too..”
“My favorite sandwich combo is pepperoni, muenster, lettuce, & tomato w/ a little bit of mayo. Also, for much of 2023 & '24 thus far, I've been helping Dimpi's move its old stock of Bud Light bottles & cans. This might be due to a politically motivated "boycott" of Bud products. Apparently, some fragile little men regard other people's gender identity as an affront to their existence. It's one of the latest "moral" panics!”
“Price Chopper pharmacy and all the pharmacists and techs who work there are outstanding. Rarely a wait to fill and pick up prescriptions. Got tired of the chaos at CVS. Thank you Price Chopper Pharmacy!”

“I have been going to Casa now for quite some time, and saw a variety of workers, and they continue to remain (at least for me) a place to get a great bite, or a quick grab and go. Very kind, and polite. They don't get the community credit that is due. If I'm honest”
“This mini-mart is convenient when traveling along Vassar Road in the town of Poughkeepsie. They sell cigarettes, alcohol, beverages, milk, eggs, bread, scratch-off tickets, deli sandwiches made on site, the newspaper, some general grocery items, etc..Dimpy's has a handicapped parking lot which is wheelchair accessible. It's easy in and quickly out when you're rushing around town.”

The workers in there all are great in customer service. I feel like it's your corner grocery store”
“I placed an order for pickup on n October 9, 2023. When I went to pick up my order was wrong. They went to look for the item. Item could not be found. They gave me 30 dollars in store credit. Then when they said they can do delivery I said fine. Then they gave me another 5 dollars because of the tax. I wasn't expecting this at all. I was presently surprised. I definitely will go back and shop there.”

“It's certainly new and still one of the better stocked Shoprite's. You want to hate them with their lame logos and horrible advertising. But if you shop their sales, you'll come out way ahead. They have good prices and their sales produce the best prices around. Yes still the same - 10/25”
“I can’t say enough good things about South Gate Deli. This place is exactly what you want in a neighborhood deli—great food, welcoming atmosphere, and people who actually care about what they’re putting out. From the moment you walk in, you feel like a regular, even if it’s your first visit.
A huge shout-out to Nick the chef, who absolutely crushes it every single time. You can tell right away that he takes pride in his work. The food is always fresh, cooked perfectly, and packed with flavor. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or something in between, Nick consistently delivers quality that goes above and beyond typical deli fare. He’s friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about what he does, which makes the experience even better.
The menu has something for everyone, portions are generous, and everything is made with care—not rushed or thrown together. The staff is fast, polite, and attentive, even when things get busy. It’s the kind of place you end up recommending to friends without even thinking twice.
If you’re looking for a reliable deli with great food and an outstanding chef who knows what he’s doing, South Gate Deli is the spot. This place deserves every one of these five stars—and then some.”

“If it's your 1st time in the store the clerks might seem very serious, once you begin to frequent the store you quickly realize these guys are friendly, funny and will remember you. it's clean, safe and the prices although r a little higher than u would pay at a "regular" store, they do not excessively price gauge lime the surrounding corner store.”
“Lately, I've been observing that my trips to the market can get a bit busy, especially at the checkout. Sometimes, while I’m trying to pack my groceries, the cashier moves on to the next customer's items before I'm finished. It can feel a little rushed, and I do miss the days when cashiers would lend a hand with packing, which I found really nice.
I’ve noticed that the person behind me often stands pretty close, which can make it tricky to collect my change and put my money away. There seems to be a bit of stress in these situations for both customers and staff.
It’s fascinating how being in crowded places can sometimes lead to moments of rudeness. With the rising cost of living and service challenges, it’s understandable that people might feel overwhelmed and react in ways they don’t intend to. I imagine staff also feel the pressure from their jobs, which can influence how they interact with customers.
As a retiree who loves my regular trips to the market, I’ve become more aware of these dynamics. Sometimes the markets can feel a bit cluttered, and I've noticed expired items on the shelves, which adds to the experience. I believe everyone has their moments, and if we all take a little extra time to be kind, both customers and staff can create a more enjoyable shopping environment together.
I do wish that customers would give a little more space and let me finish paying and packing my groceries. It would make the experience so much smoother for all of us!”
