“Great place for woodworkers. I love being able to go and hand pick what I need. Sometimes I will walk around just to see what catches my eye. Staff is there if you need help with anything, otherwise your free to walk around and find what ever you want. All they really ask is that if you dig through a pile of wood, just stack it back neatly. Seems like a fair deal to me.”

“I just came in to fill up the tank. The parking area didn't seem to be properly marked. People were just kinda parked any and everywhere. Made it hard to get to the gas pumps safely. At the time it was the cheapest gas in the area.”

“This is a while back, maybe a year ago, but I came here to buy a power drill and wasn't really sure what I wanted. One of their employees, a veteran, was very kind and friendly. He saw me and asked if I needed any help so we talked about what I needed and he made some recommendations. He helped me get everything I needed and walked me to the register. I had a great and easy shopping experience here. I went to the Morganton location on a separate occasion after my visit at the Hickory location to buy another power tool and didn't have a great experience. I will definitely drive farther to the Hickory location because of my great interaction with their employee. (I was in the area visiting my mom, which is why I went to this location).”

“I have passed this store hundreds of times in my life, and have always meant to go in. Today was the day. I was waiting for my dogs to come out of the groomer, and had some time to kill.
What a store! Took me back to 1969 or so. A genuine old hardware store, stocked with most of what you'd ever need. Not a builder supply, but certainly a great place for locals to get their hardware fix.
Rolling ladders to access a thousand bins on each wall, just like the stores of my childhood and before...exotic animal mounts...antiques on the wall...antiques shelving and displays... what a refreshing blast from the good old days!
Purchased a Behrens metal funnel, at my wife's direction, lol.
Super friendly staff, clean store, well organized and authentic. It wont be another 60 years before I return.
