“Back in April, my boyfriend and I were in Carleton Place for a week. He’s from the UK and had just been approved for the IEC visa. Since Service Canada and Service Ontario were both located there (and less busy than where I live, in Orleans), it was the perfect place for him to get his SIN and apply for his driver’s test. We also wanted to open a newcomer bank account for him.

We originally had an appointment at Scotiabank but decided to do a walk-in to see if they had any availability sooner. The experience there was just okay. We then walked into RBC, and wow, what a difference! Even though there was a long line, service was quick because they had so many tellers working. One of the customers being helped was an older gentleman and him and the teller were making jokes with one another making everyone in the line smile and laugh. When it was our turn, we explained we were there to open a newcomer account for my boyfriend. The teller was SO sweet, welcoming him to Canada and she was so excited and happy for us! She was relatively new, so she brought in the manager to help her set everything up and both were absolutely lovely. Since we couldn’t complete everything in one visit, another staff member came over to book us an appointment for the next day. He was also incredibly kind, welcoming, and informative.

Honestly, the whole experience left such a positive impression that I still think about it months later. I should have wrote the review sooner! I even wish this could be my home branch, it was worth making the drive from Orleans, 100%! Everyone in Carleton Place is so sweet and it really made my boyfriend feel at home. Thank you for making our experience so pleasant!”
