“Nice grocery store with pleasant staff on my first visit. I came specifically looking for a non-alcoholic beverage and I was impressed by the selection, although the N/A beers were pretty basic. There are a lot of cool, unique items here - from kitchen wares to duck eggs and booze-free beverage options! I can certainly find most of my groceries at a better price elsewhere, but I’ll return for the niche items and cozy locals vibe!”

“Natural Grocers is the best grocery store in Bend. The store is rarely a hectic mess. They have employees that have been there for a long time and so clearly they're treating workers better than other stores here. They banned organipeel and apeel in their produce which gains massive respect from me.My only comment would be that their meat section is somewhat lacking, I would like to see more regenerative farm options and sourcing for high quality, nutrient dense protein options. But they do decently as is.”

“Excellent customer service! Having frequented TJs in many states, this is hands down the best customer service encountered. Employees are helpful, respectful , knowledgeable and friendly. Willing to assist with any concerns and will stand behind their products should an issue arise.”

“Has all the essentials and a great collection of curated items! A perfect place to grab wine, lovely cards, and even a last minute “I forgot it at the grocery store” stick of butter!”

“This is a strange store that somehow is really useful and not bad on prices. They have both kinds of stores. Natural foods and typical grocery items plus a great bakery and hot bar. Some of the employees seem pretty miserable though.”

“Decent prices and selection. The only reason for the minus star was the fact they were out of all bulk chicken in the meat locker. But I love that they require a membership like so many restaurant stores”

“I like they have a lot of organic produce, very cheap. Also certain things here are at least $1.50 less than anywhere else. You can get beef jerky here, grass fed for half the price anywhere else. These are good reasons to go here.”

“An amazing store with a unique environment. Beautiful flowers, friendly staff that make you feel special. They are a perfect example of warm country life. They go the extra mile and are so very helpful. Definitely recommend this place.”

“When the farmers markets are closed, this is where we go for local and also some bulk foods. Locavore is more than a store, it's an important nonprofit organization making it possible for local farmers, ranchers, honeybee outfits to reach us customers. Big freezers full of lamb, beef, other meats from local ranches. Prices have gotten so high we can't afford local meat so often anymore, when we can it's great to have Locavore to stop by. Good selection of local-made gift items and food items. Pickles, soaps, farmers market types of things. Small selection of produce, typical high prices for local, nice to have it available. Customer service and friendliness of staff is hit-or-miss. Some people might be volunteers? They seem untrained or like they don't understand what customer service is about. My wife has a disability and was surprised by how dismissive they were when she needed help. That got me mad but she says they followed up well, once she complained, she's happy now so I am too. Nice to have a place for high quality bulk organic foods like nuts, quinoa, oils, good stuff from Hummingbird over in Eugene. However the prices aren't always great. Sometimes we pay twice as much compared to a similar item over at Natural Grocers. Unfortunately at Natural Grocers they don't have Oregon-local and they don't have real bulk foods either. They call it bulk but it is prepackaged. So, Locavore is the only place I know of in Central Oregon with this level of high quality bulk foods.”

“I found my favorite Mexican market in Central Oregon. I also found my favorite Mexican candy of all time, the slap. I wasn't able to find it in Coachella, CA. But I found it here in Central Oregon! I'm so happy. I found the chiles I plan to use to make tamales for Christmas. I can't wait to go back to shop.”

“Love this place so much. Going to be my primary place to shop and then add in the niche items from Costco and TJs.Great selection (better than 99% of markets), high quality, but yet prices are still spot on.Kudos!”

“The day before Thanksgiving I went out looking for turkey legs (like a fool!!). They were sold out at the first five grocery stores I stopped at and I was starting to lose hope until the perfect angel at the butcher counter offered to piece out whole turkeys for me so I could just buy the legs and thighs. He finished ten minutes quicker than he’d estimated and also found me in the store to hand-deliver them. I’m so hugely grateful — my entire meal plan hinged on not having to cook a whole turkey. It was such a kind thing to do on a day that I’m sure is super stressful for grocery store employees everywhere!! You’ll be my first stop next year ?”

“Today a gentleman was walking to every department and hi-fiving and laughing boisterously, and greeting the employees by name, basically making everyone’s day a little happier. Need more of this. Thank you whoever you are. I’m smiling as I type this.”

“The staff is the best part about this place. Other than that, head to the West side to see what Safeway should look like. Kind of sad we can't have the same on eastside.”

“Nice neighborhood market, clean, great selection, and friendly place to shop. Reading the 1 star reviews is sad and have nothing to do with the stores control, I found the responses from the team awesome! This store should have a 5 star rating.”

“Walmart is the best when it comes to delivery. They always make sure I get what I order. It's a life saver. Since the pandemic Walmart has a monthly and yearly membership that saves a ton of cash M. Meehan”

“The Bend Fred Meyer did really well during the time I was living in Bend, Oregon during the Pandemic. It's better if you are shopping with an idea of what items you want to buy. I recommend taking a list or a rough sketch of the item(s) on the list. Also, there are plenty of options for shopping at this Bend Fred Meyer. I noticed that during Pandemic most of the employees that were working (that weren't at the end of their shifts) wore a buff or a face mask or were given those disposable masks at the Checkout (the register)... by managers on duty (MODs). There were a few other shoppers who didn't bring their spectacles (prescription glasses) who didn't also bring a magnifying glass (I have a pocket one for my darling Husband when he needs to read the fine print on some of the packages). Those few other shoppers usually went to the reading glasses section and "borrowed" those readers. I could see the tags still on those readers while the senior citizens were reading the bottles and packages. I don't recommend buying readers unless one has gotten a prescription for a pair before. I recommend paying the co-pay for prescription glasses for reading. Also, if one doesn't have insurance there are options. Most of the other shoppers that were my age were looking for deli sandwiches or other picnic type items because on those afternoons I spent in Bend, Oregon there was sunshine on at least four days and evenings. Most of my trips to this Bend Fred Meyer... I stop and look at the Fred Meyer Jewelry counters... to look for charms or other items for my Pandora style bracelet. I've located a few that I liked over the years. Nobody at this Bend Fred Meyer is as friendly as the associates at the local Fred Meyer stores in Portland, Oregon (who worked between 2008 and 2012) though. I've noticed that some of the people who have worked retail are tired of the drama and bullcrap from specific customers. It's the same few customers who are the most vocal. Those customers are sourp*sses, in general.”
