“When the great ice storm of 2024 hit Oregon, power was out in large parts of the Eugene/Springfield area. After enduring a very cold night without power, I decided to stay at a hotel(that had power). Fortunately, I was able to find a room at the Gordon Hotel in Eugene. The room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable and most importantly - it had power! While my home was without power for several days and the rest of Eugene had intermittent power outages, the hotel was never without power throughout the time I was there. The staff were professional, friendly and accommodating as I had to keep extending my stay because the power had not been restored to my home. Most businesses were closed due to the power outage and the icy road conditions, but the Gordon Hotel and its restaurant was somehow able to stay open and staffed! In spite of the difficult situation everywhere else, I had a very pleasant stay at the Gordon. I would like to thank the valets, restaurant, hotel and house-keeping staff for their excellent service!Rooms: Very clean with a very modern bathroom. Water pressure from sink faucet was low. Nice window view.Food & drinks: Great menu with quality, delicious food and attentive service. Good selection of local beers on tap.”

“Needed a place to stay for one night while doing an event at U of O and stumbled upon this place online. Chain hotels were charging $200+ and I was debating that or a cheap airbnb.... and then I found this place. I reserved their smallest room which was just fine for 1 person and it came out to less than a chain hotel and this place included breakfast!It is in a historic home so expect creaking floors and weirdly shaped rooms and all of the charm. The staff are lovely. You get an old fashioned key and small TV and I loved it all. Got in after dinner and warmed up by the roaring fire with some tea and free cookies. And woke up for the best hotel breakfast ever -- they make it to order and the chef is amazing.Plus the hotel is up on a hill so it's quiet but also just a few blocks away from the market and restaurants. So you're near downtown Eugene but away from it all - aka the dream.Would absolutely come back again!!”

“This review has been a long time coming and I wasn’t able to write it until now. I was under a major medical emergency back in June 2023 and Henry was soooo very kind to me and sooo very patient. I was a wreck and in such pain. I made several calls to him trying to work through the timeframe of the emergency and needed a place that evening. He was calm and informative. Checkin was a breeze. The room was very clean, neat and odor free and quiet. The bathroom was clean and had nice amenities and a bathtub matt. Towels were clean and white. Bedding clean. Comfy beds and pillows. Also had TV, desk, a refrigerator. Simple and nice. We stayed the night and headed south 170 miles to the next emergency facility. Two days later we headed back to Eugene and stayed again at the Downtown Inn and Henry gave us the same room. The grounds were clean with no trash or cigarette butts. This place is truly a pride of ownership and I strongly recommend you stay here. Thank you Henry. ☀️”

“Really solid place to stay, especially for the price. They recently remodeled, and the rooms are clean and fantastic condition. They have a cabin vibe to them. Their breakfast is awesome with eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, waffles, fruit, pastries, cereal and coffee.”

“We didn't stay here, we only went to the 4-6 Happy Hour. I ordered the Hyatt Burger & I was beyond delighted at the tender, melt in your mouth, delicious Beef that my burger was made with. I have had many Burgers, but this one far surpassed most places that I have had a Burger at. I added Mayo, Catsup/Ketchup & raw onion, but it came with Arugula on it, which I love! It came with French Fries & a side of Ranch for dipping. My dining partner ordered Chicken Strips, Fries & the Hummus Plate & she had as her beverage a Moscow Mule. The place is beautiful, the staff super nice & we cannot wait to come back when the weather is nice & dance out on the rooftop patio under the stars. My friend DJ Mandy Mac has spun here before. ♡”

“We had a fabulous stay at the Inn at the 5th. The staff was incredibly helpful during difficult weather. Rooms were large and clean with a gas fireplace. Lobby was inviting and comfortable. Location seemed great with lots of things to do nearby, although we could not partake given the terrible weather.”

“The room was a decent size and very clean. Staff were great and very friendly. Only complaint is the rooms don't have a microwave, which was weird to me. Hotel is in a great location in a very safe part of town.”

“Really enjoyed staying there, the rooms were very clean, fully equipped kitchen, (full-size refrigerator) beds super comfy, linens and towels were very nice, good location and a super convenient food pantry inside. Overall, it was a great experience.”

“All good here now. Doing a quick airplane test for people here. Done. So only one overnight this time. All the usual just right amenities throughout. Will hopefully return for more here.The only ding here is this location doesn't have airport shuttle. Unusual, and normally would not matter to me. This particular trip, I don't have my own transportation! Not an issue overall.”

“This was an excellent experience! We traveled to visit my kids for the holidays with our dog. The pet-friendly atmosphere at the hotel was fantastic. Our room was spacious, smelled pristine and was very clean. It was so quiet, which may have been because our room was located outside the main building. The hotel's location was perfect for us. We were close enough to walk to events but far enough away from all the commotion. We enjoyed hanging out at the pool until midnight, and parking was a breeze. Jen at the front desk was a star. She was very accommodating and kind, along with the other lady whose name I unfortunately forgot. Additionally, the breakfast was a success. The omelets were so fresh! Even my husband, who is very discerning, said, "Great choice - let's stay here again.””

“Room was clean and well maintained but the shower's water pressure was weak. The bathroom was originally installed with already-cracking grout in the corners instead of flexible caulk, so they'll likely run into water-seeping issues further down the road.Gym had a good bit of space with plenty of windows to enjoy some scenery. Also, all the dumbbells were present, for now, but they only get up to 50 lbs Oh and no cable machine.The hot breakfast was less than average. The scrambled eggs had been eaten up about 15 minutes before end. And they didn't even get a little restock even though there were still about 20 people in the breakfast area. Probably waiting for eggs. I know I was.”

“I am amazed that this a 2 star hotel. It should be a 4 star. It felt like I was home, super super clean, and didn't smell like a typical 2 star. I also love that each room has a literal spot in front of the room, and not any extra parking charge. Very impressed.”

“We stayed one night here in our recent Oregon road trip and were very pleasantly surprised! We got a very spacious, clean room right across the street from the university. The grounds were very well kept and immaculately clean. I had hoped to enjoy the heated pool, but the weather wasn’t being cooperative. Nearby there are tons of eateries and bars, and the front desk provides a helpful list of recommended places. We were so impressed with this hotel, we asked to stay an additional night. Unfortunately some university sportsball thing was happening the next day, and they were all booked up, so we carried on with our trip (to be fair, so was everyone else in town). Bottom line, whether you are a sportsball fan, or just someone passing through Eugene, the University Inn is a great place to stay during your visit.”

“I want to give you five stars I really do. The customer service in the staff is impeccable incredible wonderful everywhere I recommend their pool which feels like you're swimming in the river, heated pool they better never stop heating that pool cause that was bliss. Also having the combination of a hot tub and a dry dry, sauna, Absolute butter nirvana I'm coming back here definitely for sure this with me and my 13-year-old son, we had a great time and the breakfast was amazing hotel breakfast were usually subpar. This breakfast was amazing now for a few things you should know in room 451. You can see the river beautifully, but you could also see everybody eating in the breakfast if you're sitting in your living room and they can see you as well which is something to note because you can sleep in the living room of 451 which my son was doing on the pullout couch, which I might have to pull out couch at hot chocolate or something it looked like hot chocolate, and fortunately smelled like hot chocolate. My son told me, the tiles were broken and falling off the walls in the bathroom and pink mold in the corners in the bathroom here and there the body wash was empty and the toilet paper was low. Ice bucket was cracked. The TVs were small room for such a wonderful hotel, I wish the flooring was ripping up my socks, because the flooring in the main bedroom was separating out of the floor and ripping up my socks and my feet, the threshold between the bathroom and the main room Was separating and crunching every time I walked past it very disconcerting but again I really like this place. I hope to go back soon. I just really hope you repair these items at 4:51. I would be happy to stay in 451. Again, please feel free to look at all my pictures.”

“The best experience stay at a hotel that we've ever had! Decently priced room rates. Management/owners of this place are really awesome people!! They are extremely accommodating to they're guests when we would go ask them for anything like towels or supplies. Theyre always pleasant, and positive whenever we spoke to them! And most of all patient towards everyone that comes to the hotel especially when in great need of need of a cozy safe spot to stay. They were so good us!! I definitely recommend this place go stay!Food & drinks: A 711 and red apple grocery are just accross the street! If you need snacks/food/hygiene products/home necessities ect.. so there is always a store open 24/7. Two gas stations very very close within walking distance also! Along with fast food restaurants jack in the box, McDonald's, and a new espresso drive up, the human bean!”

“The rooms were nice and the staff was really friendly. It's right in the middle of the college area. Air horns and loud partying all night. But the price was good and it didn't bother me too much. Just remember you used to be 20 at one point.”
