From minor no big deal stuff, to major issues that had me scared to death, they were always honest and compassionate about options and treatment, and clearly cared about doing what was best for him, while still being realistic and straightforward about the potential positives and negatives to me as the owner. Most recently Dr Kahle and Jessica (I think it was Jessica, I was kind of a mess) could not have possibly been more kind, helpful and supportive when it came time to put him down. I’m extremely grateful for their grace in walking me through everything on that day, and for everyone in the buildings smiling faces and help through the years.

I've also spent years working in the pet industry, which has given me the opportunity to work alongside and learn from some of the most respected veterinarians in the country. Because of that, I don't make this statement lightly: Dr. Zachary is the most exceptional vetrinarian I've ever encountered.
He has now cared for both of our dogs, Ru and Chleo, and the level of compassion, expertise, and genuine investment he brings to every interaction is unlike anything we've experienced. You can tell immediately that this isn't just a profession to him. He truly cares about every animal that walks through his doors and approaches each case with an incredible depth of knowledge and unwavering dedication.
With Ru, he was thoughtful, thorough, and committed to finding the best path forward. When Chleo suddenly became critically ill, he remained calm, methodical, and compassionate while performing a thorough examination and point-of-care ultrasound that identified a serious cardiac concern after hours and with validation and knowledge that most vets would not bring. His expertise changed the course of her care and helped us secure an urgent appointment with a board-certified veterinary cardiologist the very next day.
What separates Dr. Zachary isn't just his clinical knowledge, although it is immediately apparent that he is exceptionally skilled. It's the way he cares for both his patients and their families. He takes the time to explain what he's seeing, answer every question with patience, and ensure you understand your options. He is honest without being cold, compassionate without offering false reassurance, and deeply invested in doing what is best for the animal in front of him.
As pet owners, we all hope to find someone we can trust with the lives of our animals. After ten years of owning dogs and years spent working in the pet industry alongside some of the best veterinary professionals, I can honestly say I've never met a veterinarian who made me and my husband feel the way he has. I've never experienced someone who is as compassionate, as knowledgeable, and as genuinely invested in animal welfare.
Our family will never forget the care he has given both Ru and Chleo. We are profoundly grateful for his expertise, his kindness, and the hope he is giving us during these hard moments. If you are looking for a veterinarian who combines world class medical knowledge with extraordinary compassion, I cannot recommend Dr. Zachary highly enough.

110 Maple Street, CookMy dog Daisy absolutely adores Matt and NWB as a whole. She runs to the door so excited for daycare, ready to play with her friends. I work long days and because of Matt my dog has a reliable, safe, and fun place to go. I have also utilized the boarding services while I’m away and couldn’t be happier. I run an animal care business so my standards are very high and Matt exceeds them all. We also use Matt for training and he is knowledgeable, professional, trustworthy, and beyond intelligent. He can read and communicate with dogs in ways I’ve never seen. This is the first time I’ve ever spent money and thought it was genuinely worth every penny. Matt runs an incredible business and deserves all of his success. He is a good person that cares about your dog and YOU. you won’t regret working with NWB!

Cascade Pet Camp
3085 Lower Mill Dr, Hood RiverWe love Pet Camp. They socialized my 12 year old cocker spaniel. He had never been around other dogs. Now he gets on excited when I tell him we are going to play time (daycare). Also, Amanda the groomer, does a beautiful job. Hus haircut is always so neat, even when he is a wiggle worm.
I am very happy to have found Cascade Pet Camp.

416 Oak Street, Hood RiverThis place may look ordinary from the street or the side entrance, but it’s far from ordinary. It’s special! They’re know for their cinnamon rolls, which originally brought us in, but we ordered more after seeing food delivered to tables and perusing the menu.
Their Chilaquiles with chorizo and scrambled eggs stole the spotlight. I also enjoyed their sausage gravy. Good coffee and chai hot tea too.
Their motto may be “The Friendliest Restaurant in Town” but their food rocks too. A lot of good options in Hood River, but don’t miss this gem. We originally came for the cinnamon roll after an average hotel breakfast elsewhere, but we were so glad we experienced more of their goodness.

I had met the owner when she had some of her staff in the Willamette Valley, showing them what the Valley vs. Hood River produces. Today I spent some nice time with Austin, and actually also got to speak with the winemaker. They were so knowledgeable and interesting to speak with. They have a great variety of wines and very reasonable prices. I ended up getting their Pinot Gris, Reserve Chard, and one of their Pinots. I strongly recommend you visiting them, as they are only about 5 miles outside of downtown Hood River.

I was expecting something more informative during the tasting specially coming from a winery with italian roots. For me, the best way to appreciate wine is understanding your wine process and the story behind just a pour of wine. I missed that. Arrivederci.
