“I've got a deaf pitbull who needs a lot of engagement. When I first got her, she was on a lot of anxiety medications that took all her personality away. We've worked together a LOT and I keep her pretty active. Dialing in her diet took time and watching the variables. I always feel good about the products available at mudbay. we regularly store at the pet stores and pick up a bag of treats, or food, just to keep her sniffing through the day. but the grant park mud pay staff are her absolute favorite. She loves getting to stop in here and show off for her friends. and in three months, it's so fun to hear the staff notice things that she's getting better at! we'll walk in and hear "Oh, Dollys here!" it feels really special. These engagements are so important for her and we always feel so welcome and happy at our Grants Park Mudbay!”

“My favorite pet supply store I have ever been to! They have the best dog stuffed toys! Fun pop culture references, current events, etc. Honestly the most attractive leashes/collars too. Fun prints...very Portland/PNW inspired.You can always trust their food/treat brands to be sustainable and no filler ingredients. Bulk dog treats by the pound....SO INEXPENSIVE. Lots of other treats sold individually also, meaning less packaging waste which means less expensive also.When you see a "boutique" pet shop on a popular shopping street, you would expect high "boutique" prices. Nope. I am always pleasantly shocked at how affordable my total is.Plus, all the employees will remember your pet's name and greet them with treats!!!!!”

“I'm honestly not one for writing reviews, or if I mean to, I often forget to actually do it, but the service I experienced here, even as a new customer was so far above and beyond any other fish store I've been to, I knew I had to follow through lol! I came in with a water sample and a bunch of questions (they offer free water testing!) and was almost immediately helped by someone named Micah. Not only were they friendly and all the other things you expect from a good store, but their knowledge around fish was leaps and bounds beyond what I've gotten from other stores. I felt bad taking up nearly 30 minutes of their time, but when I run into someone who can actually help answer my questions I tend to take advantage LOL. Not only this, but after they had bagged me my fish, I asked about where their hydrolyzed protein food was for my special needs kitty, and they informed me they don't carry that sort of food, but were able to offer a whole long list of alternatives, AND, actually explain why they were alternatives! I never saw myself trying raw food, but here we are, and so far my kitty love it :) Truly won over my business then and there!”

“Wonderful place great prices they know their stuff my tank had red slime diatoms 2 other stores had ideas but didn't work cuttlefish recommended purple non sulfur bacteria I was at the point I would try anything in about a week started seeing less slime and as the weeks went on my tank looked like nothing happened all my corals sps and lps have never looked so healthy the colors pop I call this stuff miracle grow for reeftank so if any one has problems with color or algae you have to get some couldn't believe my eyes”

“They have great guarantee if your pet doesn't like food or treats, so you don't have to stress out when you have picky pet(s).(& they will babysit your pet birds for $8 a day (per cage).)& lots of nice healthy foods - treats for a variety of animals (dog, cat, rabbit, bird, etc.) (If you plan on raising ducks, don't give the duck heads as treats (cause you will be training them it's okay to chew duck's heads...(like not training your kittens to kill birds with feather toys, use mouse toys & keep toys grounded/on ground vs in air, etc. .....), but if you won't be raising ducks (& your neighbors won't be raising ducks.....?) they all look like really nice yummy treats. That wolffish skin treat looks like it would brush teath as it's being chewed.)(Sometimes they have cats(?) - kittens for adoption) (It's really interesting (& cool) that the owl finches make kitten noises too.)”

“Speciality pet stores like this attract those with money - or those looking for items not easily found. I am in the latter group. I shop two of their stores: Hawthorne (street parking), and Grant Park, next to New Season's, on NE Broadway (parking garage, shared by New S's.). Found some great stuff for my foster kitty: a $10 feather on a wand (with $5 refills); a kitty litter that is low tracking made from corn (Wee Kitty), and VetriScience Composure chews for my foster kitty. (They said if they don't work they would refund it - or credit it. Can't remember which.) They have knowledgeable staff and your questions will get answered quickly. They deliver if you are in their service area. I also believe they do good by donating pet food to worthy causes. That alone gets my vote!”

There are some birds that are missing feathers because of natural causes but they are in great care and I'm sure in the next few months they will be full of beautiful feathers. “i started going to Green Dog in 1990 when I first moved to Portland. Christine is the most conscientious pet store owner I've ever known. She constantly checks all the dog food manufacturers to be sure that the food she is selling is the best on the market. I've experienced her taking out any food that decreases the quality of its product. I've also asked her advice many, many times and she is ALWAYS sure to advise me to use caution when starting a new product. She also trains her employees to be as careful. I now live in Corvallis, OR, and I still come to Green Dog in Portland for my dog's food. I trust them completely and have never been disappointed”

“We love Wild Pet Provisions!!! My sweet pup, Monae, and I have been going to Wild Pet Provisions since I adopted her in 2021! When I adopted my pup, she had such a hard time adjusting to the food, and allergens of the Portland area, as she is originally from Mexico. I went to get vet opinions, and we could not find a solution for her tummy. She had a scray pancreatitis flare-up and ended up in the hospital. With that, I knew I needed answers, and was able to to connect with Heather! Heather was able to address Monae's dietary needs, and we came up with a diet that fit Monae's needs. Heather literally saved Monae's life! The Wild Fam is equally amazing - Lindsey, Hoku, and Max are awesome! They made Monae and I feel like part of the wild family. Lindsey gave me frequent tips on how to work with Monae's moods, especially during the first year of Monae's adoption. So much so, if you met Monae her first year, and met her now, she is a completely different pup - confident, happy, and secure.
