“Got some native plants here. Very very good quality and beautiful, especially the Flowering Red Current bushes we got! The Serviceberry bush is now gigantic, and isn’t too expensive! Beautiful trail as well, and lots of variety. One of the best nurseries I’ve been to!”

“This is the best Feed & Seed in Portland. The store is clean, organized and easy to navigate. The staff are friendly, helpful and fun. They have everything you need for a full scale farm or a backyard turkey spa. The owner’s commitment to keeping the “Old Timey” aesthetic of this historic landmark, while accommodating the hustle of modern times, is exemplary. Well played, LFS!”

“Best place I've been to in Portland to get rocks and stone, pavers and so forth. Don't bother with Lowe's. This place is probably closer and cheaper. Amazing selection. Very helpful staff. I'm a big fan. Rock and Stone!”

“Interesting - We weren’t looking for a plant store but stumbled in and were greeted by a very friendly employee who was very knowledgeable about house plants. Being from Florida, we couldn't buy plants to take back home on the plane. But we did purchase some plant-insect control stakes.”

“Small shop with a really cool collection of unique house plants for sale. The person working the desk today (owner?) was very kind with my two young kids, and, perhaps a little against his will, managed to entertain them some while I poked around the shelves. I'll definitely be back!”

“I have ordered delivery mulch and for soil from Boring Bark. The quality is very good - the compost was warm and steaming, which means there are lots of beneficial microbes. It is expected to find bits of debris in composted soil, but we got 12 yards of the 7-way bled and only found one or two very small scraps of plastic. The soil overall was consistent, loamy, and my seeds sprouted pretty easily. There were a few golf-ball sized clumps of bark dust, but they were easily broken up with a shovel and mixed in. We'll see how next year's growing season goes to really put it to the test!

Each time I call, I've connected with Kat (not sure the spelling) and she's very helpful and efficient, while still warm and friendly. Both times, I've been able to get either next-day delivery or 2 day. I've heard they can even do same-day sometimes. The truck driver who delivered the soil was very professional and quick. He had advice on where to put the soil so we could scoop it easily & cleared everything with us beforehand. For example, giving us a warning that there's aways a small chance that a very heavy truck with that much soil could crack our new concrete.

It really could not have been easier. Would recommend!”

“Beautiful plants, helpful employees. I got a polka dot begonia with already chunky soil, unlike the super thick soil from big stores. I’ve had it for about an month and it’s exploded with growth.”

“Solabee saved the day. I called first thing in the morning needing a same day delivery to the hospital for my niece. they were so kind & attentive to ask what I had in mind and then they created a beautiful arrangement. The colors were soft, warm, & uplifting, with a perfect mix of blooms & greenery that felt elegant but cheerful. It instantly brightened her hospital room & lifted her spirits. Truly above and beyond service and talent. Highly recommend Solabee for all your floral arrangement needs”

“A very cool place to get bamboo plants, bamboo products, and bamboo building materials. Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. The plant I bought was very healthy, and cost about half as much as the same plant at Portland Nursery.”

“These owners are so generous. All of their statues and fountains are packed in a straw like material made of wood. It is called wood Wool. They donate all of this wood Wool to The Oregon Zoo, which it is used for beddings and enrichment for chimps, orangutans, lions, tigers ,polar bears and black bears. On the picture it is the straw like ball in the bottom right corner. Bob, the orangutan is enjoying it as the keepers had hid some treats in it for him”

“The store is really fire but the employees are even better. I came in needing only a handful of growing medium. I was expecting to buy a whole bag, but when I explained my situation to the guys up front, they hooked me up. They had a small coco cube in the back that had damaged packaging. Gave it to me at no cost. Thank you guys keep up the great work”

“The absolute best community resource I've used. We just moved to Lents and were a bit strapped for cash after buying a house, and this tool library was (and still is) a life saver. The volunteers are friendly and helpful. I hope this place stays here forever.”

“We have moved over 20 miles further out away from Portland and yet we still travel to this wonderful produce market, and quite frankly, a whole lot of other things that this wonderful place provides. Today, in the middle of January, we walked into the market and it was relatively quiet for a Thursday morning and everything was displayed so attractively and not a distressed or rotten piece of produce anywhere! Everything so tidy and everything so fresh looking. This place never lets me down. Their workers are always busy grooming and tidying up produce row. They had pickling cucumbers! They had beautiful heads of endive that will make a great Caesar salad! The broccoli was absolutely pristine. I wanted some fruit but I'm so skeptical about ripeness and yet the wife grabbed a perfect pineapple and by Sunday it's going to be so nice and juicy. These folks pay attention to the small details. Nobody wants bruised apples. Nobody wants tired and old produce. Everything here is wonderful. I even had to grab a loaf of cranberry orange bread as they have added more baked goods to entice you as you wait in line. I highly recommend growers outlet for their continued dedication and effort in providing extremely high quality produce.”

“First, I want to express how much I love this place!! I’ve taken two classes here over the last ten years and it’s always so much fun.

I took my second class last night and just wanted to recap my experience. The instructor was very kind, personable and knowledgeable. This dude knew his stuff! He was super helpful when building my terrarium to make sure I went home with something I really enjoyed. It was such a fun experience and I highly suggest it! Especially for people who aren’t the greatest at keeping houseplants alive as the work needed for these are very minimal.

Here’s why I do not give five stars. The pricing. The class itself is $60 with $25 of that going towards the glass terrarium receptacle you chose once in the shop. Also, sounds like you can get a Groupon (didn’t know that was still a thing) and get the class at a discount. The website does clearly state they have terrariums $50 to $400 and to plans on spending $100+. My issue is, the $50 is a mason jar. I don’t remember seeing anything else until you get to $124, then it’s up from there. Two of the $124 jars are $10 IKEA jars (clearly stamped IKEA on the bottoms).

Listen, I get this is a business and they need to make money, I’m not ignorant. My complaint is that you got someone coming in wanting to do something fun with their friends and then realizing they’re stuck with a mason jar because of how expensive it is. You can’t really even see well through a mason jar. If you’re selling $10 IKEA jars, it just seems like it could be a bit lower ($70-$90 maybe) than the $124 price it currently is. Just feels like this is something catered to upper middle class individuals when it doesn’t need to be.

Also, not forgetting to mention, the price DOES include lifetime care of the terrarium. If it gets mold or dies or something, you can bring it back and they’ll help you with it for free.

So there’s my long winded review of Roosevelt’s. Love this place, love the people, just wish it was more affordable so more people could experience how fun this is.”

“I mostly use the garden center, so this review is only for that part of the store. The potted plants here are always healthy and ready for whatever you have in mind. Put them in the ground, in pots, raised beds .... as long as you've done the prep - they're gonna make it. Speaking of prep, they have every variation of miracle grow, but you can reject that hegemony and buy something that isn't mostly chemicals. Organic soil, compost and mulch are available in large quantities. There are organic and specialty fertilizers in out of the way spots. The worm casings are inside, and you can also find fish fertilizer tucked on a shelf. You'll have to walk past a mile of poisons to get there. Seriously. Maybe try some companion gardening to deal with pests instead of nuking everything. And don't get me going on that planet killing weed killer. A tiny bit of scrolling through your pocket library of Alexandria will give you an idea of which plants need more or less light, and if you want an easier way, most of the pots also have qr codes you can scan for specific details on care. Oh, and pots! Lots and lots of pots. The inexpensive plastic ones look just as nice as the others, and they won't break your back to move them once they are full of soil and beautiful growing things. Trellises, wire, bricks, wine barrels, everything. The check out in the garden center is quick and the folks who work there are super nice. Walking away with a cart full of plants and soil is like making an investment in happiness and health. What a great way to find a happy spot in a mean old world.”

“The place rips. Tool sharpening, feed for chickens, animal bedding, and a very knowledgeable owner. Also, very cute and chill shop dog. Hours are limited and stock can run out (call ahead if you need something that day), but it's a small local shop. My go-to for chicken stuff, and my girls love the feed options here. 10/10”
