Pet Supplies Plus State College
277 Northland Center, State CollegeWay better prices on goldfish than our local Petco. The staff are also nicer here and seem much more down-to-earth. We bought a fish for around $5 that would have been $100 at Petco.

Finatics Aquarium & Pet Center
2901 E College Ave, State CollegeJeff hooked us up! 6 months after we first visited Finatics our tank is going strong and healthy and the owner set us up for success. Learned a lot and I'm enjoying my aquarium. You can get anything you could possibly need for your own home tank, plus a good selection of fish and other aquatic life on sale as well. Won't go anywhere else in town for my home aquarium needs.

University Drive Veterinary Hospital
1602 University Dr, State CollegeI recently brought my two cats here for an annual wellness visit and can’t say enough good things about the experience. 401 W Beaver Ave, State CollegeBest coffee ever. Best coffee in town. Incredible service. The owner is very kind. Very good to talk to. Very innovative.

Chew Chew Bun
115 E Beaver Ave, State CollegeCCB is one of my favorite places in the State College area. They use local Rothrock Coffee beans, which are the best. Somehow, it's also the way they make their lattes and other tea/coffee drinks that make it my favorite compared to any other coffee shop. It just always tastes perfect to me. It's more delicate, which I enjoy.
The buns are unique for this area. They make their buns from scratch, fresh each morning. And there are so many kinds! The owner, Skye, is one of the most creative business owners I've met. He pours everything into making this place amazing - and it shows. There is always something new happening, and I find it inspiring.
He does a good job at hiring staff that are friendly, competent, and interested in providing a genuinely nice customer experience. Each person's personality shines through at the same time, so it feels special. Skye respects those he hires. You can even see it displayed on Chew Chew Bun's Instagram.
As of 2025, there is an app where you can order ahead and keep track of/use loyalty points easily. I like that I can see what is going to be available in the bakery window before arriving to the store.
Wishing Chew Chew Bun all the success this year and others to follow!

Fatoum Bistro
532 Westerly Pkwy, State CollegeThe food is always very good here, but the service for our dinner for Valentine's Day was poor. We ordered appetizers and had to ask for small plates to put the food on. We shared a dinner dish and had to ask for bowls to allow us to share and for spoons to serve the curry dish that was mostly sauce (which was not a problem). The fact that we had to ask for these items when it was obvious they would be needed was a disappointment.

Bistrozine
409 E Calder Way, State CollegeTried desserts at Bistrozine and was really impressed. We ordered two chocolate-based desserts, and both were well executed and nicely presented.
One of them was a warm chocolate lava–style cake served with matcha ice cream and whipped cream. The cake was rich and dense without being overly sweet, and the pistachio ice cream added a nice contrast with its subtle nutty flavor. It felt balanced rather than heavy, which I appreciated.
The second dessert was a layered chocolate mousse cake. It had distinct layers — a chocolate base with smooth mousse and a lighter cream layer on top. The texture was soft and airy, and again, not overly sweet. You could tell it was made with care rather than just being sugar-heavy.
Presentation was clean and elegant, portions were just right, and everything tasted fresh. Overall, a great spot if you enjoy well-made, classic desserts with good balance and attention to detail. Definitely worth trying if you’re in the mood for chocolate done right.

Doggie's Pizza
135 E Calder Way, State CollegeDoggie's has the best pizza in State College but even better than the pizza is the service!
Everyone I've come in contact with has always been happy and helpful. I went in to pick up 20, yes 20 Pizzas that the owners graciously donated to the PSU Men's Rugby team and it was the Banana Crawl weekend. As on can assume SC and Doggie's were packed! But our pizzas were hot and perfect!
Doggie's pizza is the #1 for me in State College!

Centre County PAWS
1401 Trout Rd, State CollegeI've adopted two cats from here and I rescued a cat that was taken in here, and I can't find enough good things to say about this place. It's, by far, the cleanest & most well equipped shelter I've ever seen. The staff is so caring and friendly and they clearly work very hard to care for our unhoused fur friends. Very grateful to have this shelter in our community.
