“They live up to the “Fresh” in their name! Fresh produce!, Fresh Meats!, Fresh Seafood!!! It’s one of the few places I would trust for Sushi grade seafood. ?”

No. The reason why I'm doing so this time is it's just a special local store filled with most everything you could need and the friendliest employees I have ever seen. It's like a store locked in time in a really special way. And because I kept forgetting things while cooking, I came back at least 3 times over a few days while visiting Portsmouth for the holidays.”

“This store is great. In stock stuff and mostly nice staff. I take 1 star off because of the deli. There are a few exceptions, but MOST all the men that work here seem to go out of there way to be as unfriendly as possible. No hellos, no thank yous, never a smile and I leave the dept feeling angry. That needs to change. This, btw, is not a one off. Other than that, great store.”

“If you like to save money, this is the best grocery store in town. Friendly and amusing staff (some even tell jokes). It is always a pleasure shopping here, and I could make a car payment on the savings. They just installed a self checkout, so hopefully, they will maintain their personal touch. Excellent job from these grocery store heroes.Update they seem to be maintaining their friendly service nicely, and the new self-service is functioning well”

“We have been in Newport for over a year and we have always had a pleasant experience! The staff is the friendliest of any Commissary we’ve been to. The ladies treat my 4 year old like family. We are thankful for them, Richie, and the rest of the staff. They are greatly appreciated.”
“We stumbled in here as we were meeting someone to pick up a Facebook Marketplace purchase. We are from out of state so had time to kill and went inside. What a great market. We loved how it was curated. The selection is phenomenal. I LOVE the eggplant meatballs. Will drive to RI to visit again.”

“Ok. I'm going to give them 5 stars even though my sandwhich was ALL the way messed up. It was just condiments. BUT! The avocado mash snd champagne mustard on grilled sourdough was still delicious. I hope they are a little more prepared for customers next time, but I will go back!!”
“Having traveled to Italy a few times, this place is excellent! The homemade Italian food is top notch! The pizza dough, while frozen, is imported from Italy and probably the best dough I’ve found! We make pizzas on my Traeger and get raving compliments from family and friends on how great the pizza crust tastes! Not the cheapest place, but you get what you pay for… quality!!”

“Nice bright Stop & Shop, located in a business area where there's a Home Depot, a Walmart, a CVS and several fast food restaurants, so it's a busy area.I went to get some firewood and they had some at good prices. They were right outside by the curb, so it was easy to find.The inside of the store is similar to others, where the produce section is the first thing you see when you come into the main entrance. Nice staff, very helpful, when I had a question.”
“Shaws is tops for product selection. The store is very clean and even the shopping carts are new and heavy-duty. They have great produce, cheeses, and store-made bakery items. What I didn’t like are the prices. Everything seems to be above the going rate. But here's the deal: if you are planning a special dinner or having a party, this is where you want to go. You will not be disappointed in the quality.”
“Clean, had what i was looking for and even found a few items I've been unable to locate in other stores. They do have the robot "Marty" roaming around, which we found to be cool....this was the first time we had encountered it.”

There is no Sam's nor Costco nearby, so this is the only choice for people on the island for wholesale items...there's a Walmart closer to Newport, but it's not a wholesale store.This BJ's is a bit smaller than others but it does have the basic departments like deli, frozen, groceries, health and beauty, small electronics, paper goods, soft drinks, bakery, etc.I went to get some gift cards in here and they had a large selection to choose from.”

“Last week I ordered 3 deli sandwich rings for a neighborhood function. The deli staff was very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The sandwich rings exceeded my expectations with generous amounts of meat and cheese and presented beautifully at our function. I would highly recommend this option if you're looking to feed a crowd.”

“Great place to shop. Large selection of items and great deli. The guys in the deli always take good care of you and are a friendly and upbeat group. I shop after work in the evenings, and it's usually not crowded at all. I do miss the days before self check out.”

“For a small groceries store it has quite the stock, from lox to fresh breads. I only wish their ice cream choices and freezers were better e.g. choices meaning good high quality vanilla. Vanilla never seems to be in stock.”
