“Really not the same bank as it used to be before First Reliance took it over. They go through drive-through tellers like water never hardly ever get the same one more than a few times so they don’t get to know their customers and a couple of them now have just been downright rude; there’s better and friendlier banks in townFollow-up: This review was followed up by Mr. Carpenter who has always been an excellent businessman and was with the original bank, Independence National... thank you for your follow-up Schaefer.... “Well this is a unique banking experience. Situated in downtown Greenville, this branch of BOTR is located in an older building, perhaps the original building for this branch. The layout is unlike any bank I've been to in the past, with each teller having an office that you sit down and conduct business in. Up front, there's a spacious and comfortable waiting area. All your banking services are available and there's parking right next door reserved for the bank. With BOTR itself, so far, so good. But this is a neat experience at this branch.”

“I called this branch and spoke to the most helpful and nicest teller I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I called this morning and spoke with Braden Smith and he went out of his way to help me find an answer to my question. He could have very easily told me he didn't have the answer or pass me along to someone else, but he didn't. He called and emailed people so that he could give me the answer. This is not my usual branch. It was just the first one on Google when I searched. But I just wanted everyone to know how awesome this teller was! Thank you so much for all of your help! I really hope his supervisor sees this review.”
“I don’t know why there are negative reviews. Those people must be the type of people that no matter what you do, you can’t please them. I’ve been a member of this bank since 2008 and NEVER have I ever had ANY issues. When money was taken out of my bank account wrongly from another state, they immediately got to work fixing it and had my money refunded. If I ever had an issue with, they were on top of it. The app works great, the website works great. They are friendly and very very helpful. I do not plan on switching banks. The only down fall is I have to drive about 20 mins to get to the closest bank, but that should tell you, of all the banks within a 5 min drive, how much I have enjoyed banking with them. Honestly, I cannot see how this bank has horrible reviews. Those people must have a stick lodged somewhere.”
“In a pinch trying to help my folks out today and we stopped by this Broad Street branch office. The office is on the bottom floor of a shared office building & is a full-service branch. We had a great experience: it was easy to park & access, everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful (extra shout to Elliott for making things easy for us!), and the space was clean & spacious. I'm not currently a South State customer myself, but based solely on my experience today I will consider them in the future. Thanks, y'all!”
