“I’ve been going to SoChac for about 4 months now, and I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough! I started with the goal of feeling stronger, and I can definitely say I’ve accomplished that. But what I didn’t expect was how much I would come to enjoy going to the gym and the sense of community that they have.
I could feel the warmth and support from everyone from day one. When I started, I hadn’t lifted weights in quite a while, so I was definitely a little nervous getting back into it. The coaches are so knowledgeable and do a great job of making you feel comfortable with the movements while meeting you where you are, no matter your current level of strength or experience.
They’re also really good about helping modify workouts if you have an injury or limitation, and they take the time to review technique and make sure everyone is doing the movements correctly. At the same time, they know when you have a little more in you and aren’t afraid to push you—which I actually love!
The workouts are hard, but it’s a good hard. I leave feeling like I accomplished something, and somehow I find myself looking forward to coming back and doing it all over again!
I also really appreciate that they have class times throughout the day, which makes it much easier to fit workouts into a busy schedule. As a mom, another huge plus for me is being able to bring my kids when I need to. They have a little seating area where kids can hang out while you knock out your workout, which makes a big difference.
Overall, I’ve gotten stronger, more confident, and have genuinely started looking forward to working out. The coaches, the community, and the atmosphere make this such a welcoming gym. If you’re thinking about trying CrossFit but feel intimidated or think you need to already be in shape, I’d absolutely recommend giving this place a try. You’ll be supported, challenged, and probably surprise yourself with what you can do!”
“AO is everything I was looking for! The vibes of this gym are amazing—everyone is so kind and friendly. As someone totally new, it felt so inclusive and welcoming from day one. Lilli is amazing! She is so encouraging, kind, motivating, and supportive. I can tell she cares about her clients, and I’ve had so much fun at every session and learned so much from her!”

The coaches are super friendly, consistent, and have a passion for what they do. Highly recommended if you like circuit based workouts or looking to improve strength ANS endurance.”
“This is the best environment i’ve found at a gym, no nonsense, get to work and get results. Very smart programming and coaches that actually pay attention and correct form/give guidance”

“I’ve been training with Coach Nate for almost 2 years now, and I genuinely can’t say enough good things about him. He consistently shows up, listens, pushes me when I need it, and somehow makes working out 3 times a week something I actually look forward to.
He’s helped me get stronger physically and mentally, while always adjusting to where I’m at and what I need. Nate has a great balance of encouraging and challenging you, and it’s obvious he truly cares about his clients and their progress.
I’m stronger, healthier, and more confident because of the work we’ve done together, and I’m really grateful to have found a trainer I trust this much.”

“I recently moved to Austin and needed a new gym. I tried out a couple of CrossFit gyms, and CrossFit 2024 was the only one where the members immediately started talking to me and making me feel welcome. Everyone is very kind and encouraging! Workouts are challenging in a good way and are scalable to all levels of fitness. I highly recommend for anyone looking for community and great workouts!”

“I recently worked out at Big Tex Gym and had a good experience overall. The gym had a straightforward, no-frills atmosphere that felt focused on training rather than appearances. It seemed like a place where people came to work hard and stay consistent with their fitness goals.
The equipment was in good condition, and I didn't have trouble finding what I needed for my workout. The staff were friendly and welcoming without being overly pushy. I also noticed a mix of experienced lifters and regular gym-goers, which made the environment feel comfortable.
One thing I appreciated was that the gym felt spacious enough to move around without feeling crowded. It had a positive, focused energy that made it easy to stay motivated. Overall, it was a solid place to train, and I would be happy to visit again when I'm in the area.”

“Steph’s Best: Fitness Edition!
This is an athlete’s paradise - blending group circuit training (think Orange Theory-style) and CrossFit equipment indoors with “no mirrors, no treads, and no egos!” Their Tuesday/Thursday jam is cardio-focused, while other days of the week focus on building strength. F45Tv keeps the group running on time, Coach Alec pumped us up with precision cues, and Sam is a storm spotter with morale boosts throughout. The gym also offers remote dietitian services, water bottle filling, and a shower to keep it clean! Run Club Saturdays 8a at Guerrilla Grocers - be there or be SQUARE.”
“Great local non-franchise gym with all the stuff you need. Friendly staff and guests, lots of trainers, fun classes and low pressure vibe. 24hr access works great, Highly recommend.”
“It took me trying five different gyms in Austin before I found and stuck with Lumos! Everyone was extremely welcoming from day one. The coaches are the most observant and thorough coaches I’ve ever had, and the programming is challenging but scalable. I came in with a back injury and knee pain but was able to jump right in because the coaches listened to me and helped me modify. I love all of the social opportunities, like the question of the day and the various social committee events. I have found my new community in Austin and I’m extremely grateful!”

“Love this place. My son does drop in classes and one of the 8 week development programs. I really appreciate the coaches helping the kids to push beyond their limits. Its really amazing to see these kids try, and try, and try again....and by the end of a session they have overcome the challenge.Coach Antwan was especially fantastic in connecting with my kid and pushing him to keep at it.”
“Steph's Best: Fitness Edition!
I’m a first-timer but was rocketed into some fourth-dimension weights-with-cardio burst in a powerful lifting class with Juliet. She’s fun, fabulous, and fearlessly led the co-ed class through a rigorous workout that had me aching for days. 10/10, would try again!!!”

“Expertise is top notch, super knowledgeable owner and coaches alike.
The community is incredible. Like anywhere, you have to put yourself out there a little. At UpReach, there hasn’t been a single person who didn’t engage and/or encourage.
A place for all levels. Regardless of where you are in your fitness journey, be-it a beginner or elite, you will not be alone nor feel alone.
It’s hard to find a gym that checks all these boxes. But the owner figured out the formula. I recommend giving it a try.”

“Coach Jesse is as good as it gets. He is thoughtful, thorough, and compassionate. He’s also genuinely available for his clients, which is so rare in this day and age.
He thinks non-linearly, which is incredibly unusual in today’s fitness environment, and it makes a huge difference. He’s also willing to listen to my feedback and engage in real dialogue.
The whole crew is solid, they’re truly at the tip of the spear when it comes to life-changing health and wellness.
Dial them up.”
“Over the course of the last couple months I have sort of become a Wednesday night regular at an Austin Dive bar that has a pole within an airstream. Naturally, I have managed to make a group of friends and they happened to have taken a few pole classes in the past. On those nights it has become common practice for them to demonstrate a move or two and then let me practice.
Through these friends encouragement I decided to attend a pole class at Brass Ovaries. Pole 1, with Casey and it was a great experience. I was a little nervous going into it but the vibe was super chill, and felt safe. Learned proper technique on a few things I had tried before and also picked up new stuff. Music was on point!”
