“One of my favorite places in Austin. Only wish I had known about this growing up! The most I've spent at once was $60. On $600+ worth of art supplies meant for a room-sized art project. Mind. Blown! Also, you meet the coolest people here!”

“Lovely people experience. I went to find nut plastic caps and also donated a spare wheel. If you want to find passionate people that fix bikes, you come here to yellow bike.”

“Fabulously prestigious atmosphere and decor, practically non-existent parking. Dance floors are great, but it's only A/C, no fans for air movement. You will have a blast, but arrive early.”

“Truly an experience one will remember for life! Austin has such an amazing bike network I never realized only until I was guided by the professionals from BikeTexas using their top-of-the-line e-bikes. I admit, I was intimidated by e-bikes because I never used one before, but it was so easy! I can't believe I never tried it before. I really recommend anyone looking for a memorable group experience to try this bike tour!”

“Great location, Austin Celtic festival was nice. Rory was lovely! Just wish someone had figured out a way to get some real food there, rather than corn dogs and fritto pies!? The Irish wolfhound's were AWESOME!?”

“I haven't been to the North Austin YMCA in about three years. I remember actually applying to an executive employment opportunity at the location and I stopped through to see about a course offering back then.Yesterday I decided to pass through. As soon you walk through the entrance there's a customer service desk so YMCA members can scan themselves in, and patrons can be assisted by the front desk clerks. They're eager to assist as soon as they see you. In fact I received a free day pass and was told the next time I visit I would pay the customary $15 for a day pass. One of the first things I noticed is that the lobby floor is shiny and everything looks really clean. Patrons were steadily coming in with work out gear, and parents were escorting their children here and there. This was around 6PM and the parking lot had about 50-60 cars or maybe more. This tells me the community is satisfied with the services provided by the location, and both of my experiences were welcoming. Before leaving I actually browsed over a bunch of fliers on a table highlighting course offerings for children and adults. There's not much going on in regards to community building taking place in North Austin. It's good to see the YMCA organization in the area and doing a great job. Stop on through if you're in the neighborhood or visiting.”

“Fabulous shows! I highly recommend & support the free productions put on here. Come early, bring a picnic & if you bring tall chairs, be courteous & sit in the back. There's nothing ruder than sitting your kids in the grass with an amazing view while people squeeze in late & setup their large, bulky chairs in front of your small children.”

“Great place for getting pet vaccines, neuter/spay, monthly preventatives, microchips for a good price. All the techs and front desk are so friendly. If you have special needs, this isn’t the place for you but for not exciting normal dog maintenance needs, it’s perfect!there can be a wait but if you come as odd hours, there is no wait at all.”

“So there USED TO BE a thrift store here, but they got so many kids for their developmental disabilities program that they no longer have room for the thrift store. So if you come looking for a thrift store, you'll not find it here. But 5 stars for what they are, which is a great place for kids with disabilities to learn and interact.”

“Awesome local bookstore. They have a lot of books you won't find in other stores and put on cool events. Make sure to check their Instagram for store hours.”

“This was my thrift store stop on a recent trip to Austin. I picked this one because of their mission helping animals. I was initially confused by the pricing so asked staff for help. It turns out they have THREE types of pricing. Here's my interpretation....please correct if I got it wrong. 1. Fixed price -- everything in that category is one set price, colored tags have no bearing. 2. Assorted prices -- higher than fixed priced items, but they have two colored tags for discounts, potentially resulting in lower than fixed prices. 3. Vintage -- always priced higher than the rest. I did find inconsistencies in their segregating and pricing but I cut them slack and "tipped" because it all goes to the animals! Oh, parking is tight, so plan accordingly.”

“I have been to several of their events. It is absolutely legit. In the last banquet they honored an active Navy Seal giving him an expensive sporting equipment and a all paid vacation. They also did a drawing for just veterans, and gave them a standing ovation. Two years ago they gave $5,000 to a single parent police officer wounded in line of duty. I have had a great time with them and respect the work their doing.”

“This is my favorite YMCA in central Texas. The staff here work hard to maintain this YMCA and provide a welcoming experience and it shows. This facility is well equipped and kept clean! I’ve been to many YMCAs with unusable amenities due to a lack of upkeep but this is not one of them. There is ample space to get a great workout in (though it does get busy during peak hours) and lots of friendly folks willing to have a conversation. I like that there is a steam room in addition to the sauna and it doesn’t smell like others I’ve used.”

“I had never heard or been to Big Austin until I signed up for a drawing they had. There are some awesome things I found out that go on around and in the place. Ms.Cheesie, thank you for making my time spent there worth while, it was great learning about what you all do there, and it was great socializing with you and others. Keep doing what you're doing for our community. We need you.”

“If not for this organization a lot of us aged and disabled at home would be almost forgotten. It's so nice to be visited each day with a smile, freshly made food and fruit and plenty of great attitude from the volunteers who came no matter what the weather did just about. Plus they provide food and toys for my companion therapy cats, as well as litter every two weeks, as a matter of fact I was just visited by the volunteer. Today's healthy meal is hot and delicious ? it's chicken marsala sweet potatoes and a nice carton of milk a huge piece of Texas toast and green beans. Plus homemade applesauce. I enjoyed it all. And I'm so happy in my tummy! Ty to all the folks who haven't forsaked the elderly! We ran the world pretty darn well up till now!!!! Lol ty very much for the whole organization!!”

“This is an update paragraph. This facility only gets better. It is an absolutely wonderful project that everyone in Austin should visit and see what is possible when someone has the heart, the energy and the finances. It is truly incredible what they have done. My compliments to all involved. We should all donate when we can.Good people sharing their time energy and resources with those that are less fortunate. This place is immaculately clean and we have driven through it several times. I don’t know anywhere in Austin that is any better kept than this facility.”

“I recently had my first child & struggled with breastfeeding. I was terrified to check out of the hospital & go home to reality. I ordered a small supply of donor milk & it was key to easing my anxiety. The women who run this place are incredible. Excellent customer service! I also felt like they knew me as a person. They knew my case & could advise me through the process. This is such important work & I am beyond thankful to the women who donate. I hope to be able to donate myself someday. I would love to give back.”

“While being at a hospital is oftentimes not for very joyful experiences, small spots like this can help brighten up the day of both patients and visitors alike. There is a wide variety of different items available for gifts, comfort, and even a soda machine, coffee, and refrigerated food items in case you need something close and quick. The real reason MVP of the offerings, however, are the Tyler Candles. Made here in Texas (Tyler, TX, of course), the hospital gift shop offers a great selection of both fragrances and different products. I have special memories buying these candles all of the way up in Minnesota with my grandmother - it was cool to buy Tyler Candles when your name is Tyler, you know? But being in a place of high stress and emotion, smelling some of those familiar scents brought me to a very tranquil place. Thanks, St. David’s/Atrium Gift Shop for the opportunity to reflect and relive fun memories.”
