“Wonderful hotel. So many hotels are doing away with full service it's nice to have such a beautiful historic hotel with valet, doormen & bellhops. I was initially disappointed because I reserved a room with street view & was given a room with a view of a brick wall and alley. But it was so beautiful inside and QUIET. Bed was comfortable. The bar was exceptional. Had the best martini with bleu cheese olives. Best drink my entire stay. Can't wait until the rooftop bar is finally open again”

“For a small hotel it was a pleasure staying there the Staff was helpful the breakfast was actually more than expected with an automatic pancake maker making perfect delicious pancakes and all the selections of pastry, oatmeal. And cereal coffee and more it was great!Nearby activities: Seems a bit of a walk to get to places or an uber will be very reasonable to get you anywhere you needSafety: Seems to be no safety concerns in the area”

“This was a very comfortable pre-cruise hotel to stay at. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was decent enough to get our stomach ready for tons of food that we're gonna eat on our cruise.”

“I take an annual trip to Galveston Island every year. This year we landed at the queen gypsy inn. It looked really unassuming when we arrived and we wondered what we were walking into. We walked in and were blown away. This place is georgeous!! The attention to detail, the level of items available in the suite, and the customer service were outstanding. Plus, even though we were one block away from the seawall traffic/ beach, you couldn't hear anything. That is one solid little location. This is definitely a five-star place to stay.”

“We always have a wonderful time at San Luis. Love that all the rooms have a beautiful view. Easy walk to the beach. Staff helped make my birthday special. Went in November and pool was heated enough. Only wish they had another hot tub area. Loved the fire pit addition. They have private cabanas to rent. Nice set up.”

Excellent value for money.Safety: Very safe areaWalkability: The Seawall is the perfect walk and there is a convenience store and a few cafes with food in walkable distance.Food & drinks: Breakfast is very complete and fresh and there is food and drinks for all tastes. “This hotel is a jaw dropper! Inside and out! It sits right on the beach! The most elegant and beautifully designed interior +aesthetic! The unique and beautiful chandeliers throughout the hotel are such beautiful details! We stopped in to tour the hotel because it's historic and it's so worth it! I don't know if I'd stay here because apparently it's haunted...yikes (lol). They also do ghost tours which obviously I was not interested in but it's an option for brave souls visiting haha! Highly highly recommend stopping by for a self guided tour!”

“The location is no more than 6 minutes from restaurants, stores, and the beach. The staff is all very friendly. Rooms have full kitchens with full size refrigerator, cabinet space, season rack, and a 2 burner glass stove. Service is also great. It's quiet and a place that will make you feel at home. They also have a really nice pool with sunchairs as well as tables and a hot tub.”

“Nice location close to the cruise port in Galveston, not quite walking distance though. It was a short walk across the street to a nice beach and also a short walk to convenience stores, and there's a Golden Coral to put on the feed bag just across the parking lot. Several other restaurants are also in walking distance. The rooms were comfy, the hotel was clean, staff friendly, and the breakfast area was well stocked in the morning.”

“We love the location literally a block from the beach and many many stores are around. The rooms were clean and very nice. We all got a peaceful night sleep. We will most likely come back.”

“Impressed with fast and hassle free check in. Got to room and it was clean and sanitized. So clean that I could smell the cleaning supplies. The lady who cleaned my room was nearby. Thanks Marta. Marta is very experienced in make ready. All towels soap, cups, toilet paper present with nothing missing. Beds made well. The environment was peaceful. No rowdiness from the folks upstairs or next door. Night was quiet. Beds comfortable. Good hot water for showers.Only cons I have is that the rooms are small, no fridge, no microwave, no tub, no restaurant's or consumer shopping nearby, and the outside of buildings need repairs. But for the price, it was worth it.”

“My family and i stayed for 4 nights, we had 4 different rooms all on the 3rd floor and we had no issues with any of our rooms. Yes it's a tad outdated but all in all the price is worth it. Our rooms were clean, none of us had any bugs at all. We watch hotel hell and other shows alike so we knew how to really look for bed bugs and roaches and we saw none! On our patio the ac was leaking a bit..BUT mind you people set those a/c units super low while it's hot and humid outside so I understand that. The breakfast was decent definitely not a golden corral buffet but it held us through the day with going to the beach and fishing.. its eggs, sausage , coffee, cereal, pastries and the waffles of course. I did like they had employees constantly refilling the bar and cleaning it.Not sure why there are reviews stating there's not enough staff? We always saw room service going around and the front lobby people were cleaning the front. The location is also great, the beach is a short walk and so is the fishing pier it was so nice to not have to load up the car and kids every time we wanted to go to the beach. We also walked to the beach late at night around 11/12 and had no issues. My whole family (which was 11 people) really enjoyed the hotel and we'd most definitely stay again. We did a lot of research before our trip and to be honest we were nervous to stay here, but once we got there is was totally fine for us!”

“Great location and great price. Nice breakfast with options. We have stayed multiple times. The hot tub is nice since the pool isn’t heated, but wasn’t working one night of our stay. There were also 2 small roaches at our last stay. One in our room and one in the hallway. It may deter us staying again.”

“It's a typical beach hotel. We didn't expect any special service. The room was very clean and the location is very good. Management repeatedly asked if there was anything they could do to improve our stay.”

“Our kids loved the pool and the breakfast. There were no scrambled eggs (which I was hoping for). But in general our impression is very positive, we will be back!”

“Jacuzzi tub, comfortable seating, nice sized flat screen, all the amenities. Usually, a beachfront hotel lacks carpet in the rooms. Ours was half carpeting, which impressed me. Wonderful balcony with plenty of room to move around. Most rooms didn't have a surf view since the hotel is perpendicular to the seawall. Warm indoor pool.”

“The room and the whole experience exided my expectations especially after I reading those bad reviews. This more than 50 year old motel named after the street it's located on has his history and dignity. Definitely it saw better times but it's still good. Our room on the second floor was nice with comfortable beds and the sea view. We had a good night sleep. We had hot water. Everything was clear and maintained with care. There were in fact two rooms. The entry room with the kitchenette, the fridge, the microwave was a plus. The giant plus were the screens on the windows in the bedroom, which most of the hotels now don't have now. We used the natural air instead of the conditioner. We had a unique experience. Thank you!”
