“This is an awkward situation, I'll admit...
This staff was great to me. No questions asked..
However, I just spent almost $2,700 getting everything I needed from this store and things were going great until I came to exchange a bag.
Winston, the General Manager (great guy), verbally told me how much the new bag cost..($600)
And he mentioned that the bag I was exchanging would bring the cost down to $300 out of pocket, after the exchange..
Again, everything was fine at that point.. I didn't bat an eye.
Paid the $300 difference.. mentioned that if I hadn't already written them a 5 start review, I would be as soon as I got to where I was headed.. and left the store..
While at a red light, I noticed the tag on the $600 golf bag I just purchased said it was only $296.99
Obviously confused and a lil disappointed, I called Winston back on the phone to see what can be done..
Winston apologized and explained it away as an oversight. But said that there's nothing he can do about it. He said it hasn't been on sale for years and he didn't realize it was improperly priced..
In that moment I told him I didn't think that was good enough and wasn't comfortable with where he was willing to leave this situation..
He again apologized and we ended the call..
Now, here's a lil bit about my background..
I currently own and operate a barbershop.
I'm a former GM and DM for AT&T.
Former GM for Sleep Number.
Formerly in leadership for several other companies in retail/customer service/restaurant industries, respectively..
I mention my background to make a point...
I know and understand that things happen and being a GM is a lot of work..
But you don't earn your money as a GM when things are going smoothly..
You earn your money when you problem solve your way thru difficult situations..
In my experience, this isn't even a difficult situation.. but, in fairness I've never been the GM of PXG.
But I do know that in every role as a GM.. or even when I was a lead at Sprint cellular I had the ability to correct pricing issues like this.
I'm not saying Winston should have given me the $300 I overpaid back, but he offered ZERO compromise or concessions..
What's wild is he even expected that I was gonna write a review.
So he KNEW this was coming.
Again, I just spent almost $2,700 ($2,400 the 1st time & $300 just today.. )
I'd bet my life that if I went to ANY other retail store and bought whatever they put in front of me I'd be offered a few more concessions than a simple 'my bad'

“I am a notorious penny pincher, but I never second guess the expense for proper running shoes. Fleet Feet-Woodway is my store but any store that exclusively sells running shoes is best (make sure you understand the exchange/return policy which should give you a chance to tryout your new shoes.) Shoes get new models all the time, so a shoe that is perfect today may be a dud for you next year. Getting fitted by a knowledgeable salesperson is essential. (Just posted this on fb & thought I should share here too!)”
