“What an uncut diamond in the rough! A working country store, this is a trip back in time. The place evokes the atmosphere of an old time family dinner. The waygu hamburgers are seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the chicken and dumplins really make you want to slap yo' mamma. Uncommon varieties of Dublin Sodas are offered which additionally augment the uniqueness of this little jewel. They have different specials every day, so, if you are interested, it is worth calling ahead to see what's on the menu on the day of your visit. About equi-distant between Palestine and Athens just off of state highway 19, it is certainly worth the drive.”

“Very cheap prices on gas and cigarettes. Only advice I could give is do not close during the peak times for break. Little aggravating. Should rotate employees when it's ones break time. But just something to suggest. My daily stopping place”

“In this place you can go and buy very tasty artisan bread. By the way, it also has international money transfers. Among other things, you can find Mexican sweets and condiments.”

“I absolutely love our hometown brookshire's. The folks are always so friendly and they hire absolutely everyone who wants to work regardless of age race gender preference language barrier . I had the most amazing conversation with an elderly gentleman that helped me take my cart out . He said he was 82. What an amazing testimony. I won't shop Anywhere else in town❤️❤️”

“It was good. My daughter swears by Dollar General when packing for a trip & I had started off with a long detailed list several years ago while preparing for mine & my parents Cruise to the Western Caribbean. I'd watched endless videos on YouTube about Cruises, What to pack, what cost 3 to 4 times more in the Ship StoresLike Advil, Cold & Allergy Meds, Cough Drops, Sunscreen, Afterburn or Aloe Gel, Shampoo & Conditioner, any toiletries.i was ordering stuff from Amazon & Wish paying Extra for Faster Delivery, going to Burlingtons Weekly, Went to the Outlet Mall to find my 80's Night Outfit and got Lucky. I hit $5 Below and Found a Loose 16 Candles TShirt & Black Leggings Big Hoop Earrings, Hair Neon Pink Hair Scrunchie, Went next door to Spirit Store Got more Neon pieces like leg warmers & Bracelets. Then went to TJ Maxx & bought a long Evening Gown that was on Clearance & Kitten Heels and Inexpensive Jewelry to match for Gala Night.BY THEN MY Daughter was like, Your giving Me a Headache Stressing about it all. Give me your List. She took me to Burks to get Garmet Bags, which she later put our names & Designs on. Then went to Dollar General and said Watch & Learn.... She bought All but like 4 of the things Left on my list which were Specialty Items for 3 People for around $120.We did the same thing last Summer before taking my 3. Grandkids to Six Flags in Arlington & The Dallas Children's Aquarium at Fair Park. My Daughter loaded up on several SPF's Sunscreen, After Sun Lotion, Aloe Gel, Advil, Tylenol, Children's Pain Reliever,Drinks for the kids, Water, Snacks, EtcThen Again 2 Weeks Ago, to take them to Suger Land to The Houston Museum Of Natural Sciences.I highly recommend stocking up on travel essentials before Any trips. “I like the fact that I can get what I need from places such as walmart but in a smaller environment. I get very overwhelmed easily but with stores like Dollar General, I can get in and out without being overwhelmed.”

“I'm thankful for the Picket store. They are the only store out here that keeps really good hours and 9.999 times out of 10, they're gonna have what you need. If only they would possibly get a small grill going to make breakfast sandwiches and burgers I think they could put the colony store out of business.”

“This is my "go to" store for groceries, and home necessities. I have always had a great experience here and today had an even better than expected experience. There was a strong storm in the area that I was unaware that was fast approaching. I found myself near the aisle where management had circled up the employees. What I overheard was absolutely awesome. The manager on duty was explaining how important it was for everyone to be safe and also to take care of their customers. This was so heartwarming. Right at that moment I received an automated call from the City of Palestine warning of swirling winds in the surrounding area and a chance of tornadoes. It made me feel safer knowing that this manager and crew were going to take care of everyone in the store should there be an emergency. Keep up the great work!!!”

“I have shopped this store since I was a child. First, I want to say I am ALWAYS greeted with a hello and smile. The produce department is always fresh, you will see the produce worker going through and checking everything. I love that they run specials unlike the big box store in town. Food has gotten so expensive families need sales to be able to buy what's needed. Meat selection is always great and in date, even when they are having a big sale, they keep it stocked to the best of their ability. The rest of the store is clean and easy to navigate through. Very rarely do you have to dodge boxes.I don't mind self-check anytime as the workers are actively helping and will even stop and check out customers in the self-check area. When I go to a normal checker line, the workers are always friendly and make small talk. Very local feel in the store.”
