A few months ago, one of the hardest seasons of my life began unexpectedly. I had to leave my mom's home with almost no notice, and suddenly everything I owned was sitting on the curb while I tried to figure out what came next. In the middle of that uncertainty, Extra Space Storage became more than just a storage facility-it became a place that helped me hold on while my life was falling apart.
Unit 1232 wasn't just four walls and a roll-up door. It held everything had lett. It held memories, hopes, fears, and the pieces of a life I was trying desperately to rebuild. Some of my favorite memories happened there. My supportive girlfriend would come spend time with me while I sorted through my belongings.
My puppy, who is now grown, would sit beside me while I figured things out one day at a time. On lonely rainy nights, when I didn't know where I would end up sleeping, I would stop by my unit and sit there wondering what tomorrow would look like.
People don't always talk about how difficult it can be to become independent, especially when it happens suddenly. Sometimes all you can do is take life one day at a time and pray things get better. Today, I closed out my unit for the final time.
As strange as it sounds, I was sad to let it go. Closing that door felt like saying goodbye to a chapter of my life that shaped me into the person I am today. It reminded me of how far I've come from those uncertain days when I didn't know what my future would hold.
I want to give a special thank you to Cassie Hutchens.
She has always been kind, professional, and compassionate. Today, while helping other customers and handling a busy day, she still took the time to help me close out my account, answer my questions, and make sure everything was taken care of. Her kindness meant more than she probably realizes.
To the entire team: thank you for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming facility. You may think you're simply renting storage units, but for some people, you're providing a place to keep the last pieces of a life they're trying to rebuild.
If you're looking for a storage facility, I highly recommend this one. For me, it wasn't just a place to store my belongings.

“I rent from this location probably 2 to 3 times a month, sometimes as often as four or five, and I’ve so far never had a bad experience. I’m not asking or looking for much, just a specific size trailer when I need it, and that’s one thing they always have. Customer service is always great, as I streamline the process by having the app and reserving anything I need the night before so that it’s super easy and convenient for both sides. When I like a business, I download the app if they have one, because ordering ahead always makes a difference for my customer service experience. I bring the trailers back as clean or cleaner than I got them, so I’ve never had an issue or anything with cleaning face. I think what you give is what you get with any business. I get top-notch service because I’ve made a relationship with one company and give a top-notch customer experience in return to any of the workers or employees. Make it easy and you’ll get it easy!”
“These guys are great. I came to get a tow dolly, but there was a fault in the taillight on the one I reserved. I guess that the others they had needed to be returned to the same location, and I was gonna drop it off 45 miles away. They tried to fix it, but it needed more work than a quick little fix could do.
So, they gave me a local one and extended the time so I could return it when I came back down. That was great, as I was coming back down in a couple days. I just returned it last night and the U-Haul app wanted to charge me extra. I disagreed with that and submitted that and then this morning I just got a receipt that stated what we agreed to.”
