“Great downtown location by Riverwalk. Very clean even though the hotel is older. Musty smell in hallways but that's ok , it comes with the age and character of the property. Very accommodating staff, there are staff opening doors for you at the entrance which is visually rich. Rooms are updated, clean. Mattresses were a bit too soft, not enough support. It was unusual that there are only 2 drawers for clothes in the room and they are located right next to the entry door to the room. But there is a lot of floor space for anything and every luggage you can bring.”

“I stayed at this hotel for a company training and had a great experience from start to finish. The location is excellent, with plenty of great restaurants within walking distance. The staff was wonderful and very welcoming, from the receptionists to the housekeeping team. The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the bed was comfortable. My company also provided lunch during the training, and I was actually very impressed with the food it was really good! Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel!”

“Firstly, ALL the staff are super genuinely friendly and extremely accommodating. They went above and beyond supporting our training event. The rooms are big and clean. The value is unsurpassed- free breakfast, free real food during the 5:30 kickback, and three free drinks daily are all included. Can’t say enough good things about this particular hotel. “I love love love The Menger. I will always choose to stay here. I try to stay in the historic rooms as I find them more charming. Staff here are very professional and friendly. My only complaint is that the beds and pillows are very uncomfortable. That doesn’t keep me from staying here though. Did I mention ghosts?”

“Can’t say enough about this hotel. I was here for an extended period of time, and my stay was great. Everybody from the front desk, to housekeeping, and the restaurant/bar workers, were absolutely amazing. Everybody was so friendly and welcoming. They also have a cute little outdoor cat named Beau who loves pets and snuggles.
Any time that I am down in San Antonio, I will definitely be staying here.”

“The hotel was awesome to say the least. The front desk was exceptional. Always available and very attentive to our needs. We visited 9/1-9/4/2026 due to our son's Air Force Graduation on September 2-3. The base was about 5 minutes away (Luke Gate) which was the perfect gate to use for the graduation. The hotel room was in excellent condition and the amenities were perfect. We used the pool on our first day there to relax from the long road trip. The pool is salt water which I think was great. They also have a gym equipped with weights, treadmill, etc. It was perfect. Laundry was also available as a courtesy no charge to use the machines just have to buy your own detergent. They had 2 elevators, the one closer to our room was out, so we had to take the one on the other end which made it a longer walk but it was fine, better than walking to the 4th Fl.
I highly recommend this hotel if you are attending a graduation at Lackland JBSA. You will not regret it. The only thing to be aware of is the parking in the hotel. It gets filled up from time to time and the rear entrance is closed from 9pm-7am.”

“The history behind this building and its fantastic location are the attraction! Just a walk across the street to the Alamo and Riverwalk. ? For a great view of the Alamo, try to get a high floor, low room number. ? The rooms are standard, well appointed, but ready for an update. The rumor is this place is haunted but we've never had a special visitor ? in our multiple stays.”
“Front desk guy was very professional and courteous. Our room was clean and comfortable, also very quiet. We had to leave before breakfast was available, but we did use the room service for dinner the night before and it was good. We had a very pleasant experience, will return in the future, and will definitely recommend!”

“Don't let the area fool you. This location and hotel were amazing. So close to downtown San Antonio Riverwalk and Market Place. The rooms are so nice and comfortable. The restrooms are recently upgraded and very large and functional. The parking is ample and FREE. The staff were all very professional, nice, and accommodating to questions and request. Bonus at this location were the indoor pool and hot tub. The area around the hotel looks rough but is safe and so close to the freeway. We will definitely book this hotel again.”

“From the moment I checked in to departure, service was exceptional. The room was spacious and very clean. Two things that were subpar: there was mold on the ceiling in the shower, and it was so noisy at night it was hard to sleep. There were trash trucks, cars coming and going all night and you can hear it from the 3rd floor. Other than that, it's a really nice hotel. The room was extremely clean, everyone was friendly and very helpful. The location was within distance to the Riverwalk, stores, and the Alamo. If your a light sleeper, be sure you are not on the third floor facing the parking garage, because it is extremely loud all night long. I still recommend this hotel, despite these two negative things.”
