“Traveling through this area today. Needed carrots to feed the prairie dogs so we stopped here. We were not expecting what is inside this building. It is so nice! And the the people working here were amazing. We only bought the carrots but they were not outrageously high as we expected they would be!
Absolutely pleasantly surprised be this store! Beautiful inside and good prices. And nice people.
Wish I lived here. Two places in this town were stellar!

“Visited twice while in Lubbock this week, seeking the best Indian for B.I.R.* Chicken and/or Lamb Tikka Masala to bring back to Midland for me to freeze, and some Vindaloo for the ex, who introduced me to this cuisine forty years ago. This place is the one I came back to, with the food both my heat-seeking ex and my wimpy (supertaster) self liked best.

In both cases the lamb was tender, flavorful, and free of any significant chunks of fat or gristle -- just perfect. I could cut the lamb with the side of the plastic spoons! The sauces in both chicken and lamb were, for me, perfect. No discomfort and ruining my taste buds with hot spices. I know they can easily make it hotter for those who like it that way. Dave enjoyed his vindaloo, too, it being hot enough to satisfy, but next time I'll remember to ask for super-hot. I also had the aloo gobi masala -- potatoes and cauliflower in a light sauce -- which was very satisfying.

The variety of options on their menu is simply stunning. There was a continuous flow of customers both to the grocery store and the takeaway counter while I was there: a good sign being how many were clearly from the countries and many cultures represented by the restaurant's fare.

The place is like a super-sized Indian Takeaway in Great Britain, intended to order and take with you. Their containers were plastic, top and bottom -- thankfully since each entre was steaming hot. There are plenty of tables and chairs, though. It's just not got the ambiance or over-the-top service of classic fancy Indian restaurants. It's more home-style, with the bubbly, friendly Jennie (if I recall her name correctly) who both times made me feel welcomed and like she actually cared about me and my journey through life.

Their spot in the strip of stores etc is huge, with a very roomy Indian grocery store complete with dry goods, fresh produce, frozen products, and even a fridge with a few baked goods. The desserts in the freezer alone were worth study (and purchase, if I had a freezer and the time: pista kulfi for sale).

The only oddness was being charged $0.89 for a bottle of water when I was eating in the restaurant. But it's not really intended for sit-down, that's just an option, so there's no water-glass filling servers.

Wheelchair-wise, there was a ramp leading straight into their double-wide front door that slid open for me. Plenty of space to roll around the take-away counter, tables, and isles of the grocery store. The bathroom, well, it was through the stock room, not hard to negotiate, turning room inside, but no handrails for those of us needing help getting up. Fortunately my transport chair's brakes are strong enough that it can give me something to push up on.

And, of course, plenty of gluten-free options in the curries. Dave's vindaloo was dairy-free as well as gluten free. They gladly adjust heat levels, quite skillfully.

I look forward to visiting again.

“Filled up my 2013 Avalanche with 25 gallons of gas at $1.79 per gallon. I got a $.70 discount from shopping at United Supermarkets in Lubbock. Wonderful people who take your groceries to your vehicle and none of them will accept a tip for what they do. We always shop at United!!!!!!”

“I went for the first time today and got an assortment of items (ramen, chopsticks, soup spoons, pestle and mortar, jujube, dried rose for tea, fish sauce, chili crisp and a fun 5d picture). They have a little bit of everything and the woman at the counter was very nice and offered me some recommendations. I will return to try their dumplings and seafood.”

“The store and the people that work great. but those scooter shopping carts for people that are disability and cannot walk. On 19th Street need to fix them. I tell them all the time when are they going to get fixed. and I don't see no results .the last 3 months. The elderly complex where I live at .there are at least 40 people that go there. but then stop going there because. No scooter ? for the disabled please get them fixed.”

“I had a bad experience at the United on 82nd, but the United on 4th and slide was convenient. What a difference! Every employee was friendly and helpful. Tyrek was my cashier. He was personable and patient. In a world where many service workers are there for a paycheck, he and the staff were wonderful.”

“To me United is lot better than Walmart or HEB but I only shop at HEB once which it didn't impress me plus United still have pretty much all their cashier's they are the best.”

“At this price you'll get a good deal. Just warm up for 10 seconds and there like out of the oven. Good place for just about anything. The Mexican food is really good. Its not can food like tex Mexican restaurant's, it's actually home made food. The ladies work really hard to make it right. Trust me its Mexican food not can rice/ can beef/ most Tex Mexican restaurants I've tried are. Menudo is really really good. If you're wanting some of that.. Its the place too buy it. God's good place and people work really hard to make your day.”

“Small store. They never have the tenders that is advertised and they seem not to care about it but other than that I love food king ! Employees are usually very nice and friendly at this location and the store is clean and organized :)”

“My parents who are both in their 90s shop at Market Street on 50th in Lubbock. I really wanted to send the management a nice note about how great the service is. Dad had a list of items to pick up and because they have multiple carts that he can ride in the store, he was able to shop with my assistance and get everything on his list. I was struck by how friendly and helpful all the staff were. Great customer service!!! One man offered to bring the cart to my father. Another very nice young lady followed us out to the car to return the cart. I noticed another man on a cart who purchased a lot of items and several employees helped him out to load his car. You just don't receive this great service at pretty much anywhere. Kudos to United for thinking of seniors and kudos to all the great employees who went out of their way to be helpful.”

“Always love coming here for the fresh produce & the meat market. I also love getting the ready made shrimp cocktail & the ready made cocktail. The employees are always super nice & helpful. My only complaint is they don't have any paper bags... an employee told me they are the icky United in Lubbock that doesn't carry paper bags... Why? hmm 🤔 And imo their produce & meat market are cheaper than any of the Market Streets. Highly recommend!”

Marlene did us an amazing job! After Market Street turned us away, they picked us up with no problem! She couldn't do the cake we wanted due to needing at least a month to order what she needed to accommodate. Understandable, since it was short notice. The job she did was beyond what we had imagined. The cake came out gorgeous!! Thank you so much!”

I have worked retail and worked grocery and to maintain such a positive attitude and remember conversations we had months ago is nothing short of impressive. “During hard times like funerals buying flowers is not an easy thing to do. The last thing you want to have happen is have the flower shop gouge you. I searched online several flower shops in the area and they all seemed pretty high priced for what you got. The funeral director told me about Market Street and said they get a lot of flowers from there and they are always very nice so I called. I am so glad I did. The saleswoman was so sweet. I needed something but didn't really know exactly what and told her to make it BIG and beautiful and above all "Classy" because my best friends mom was just that. A classy woman! She even helped me with the card. I started it and she helped me make it absolutely perfect. I am so grateful for her on that day when it was so hard. She made it a special occasion during a very hard time. My friend sent me a thank you that said it took up the whole of one wall and was "BREATHTAKING". I am sure from looking at photos online that Market Street did this for 10%-20% what other florists in the area would have charged me. Not only that, but she was so patient and caring with me. I wanted to personally thank her.”

“A big shout out to Angie who was working as a cashier today. Apparently she has been there over 30 years. Too many times we like to complain but forget to give praise when things go right. I had a cart full of groceries and after she rang most of it up I realized I forgot my wallet. She unpacked the bagged cart for me to void it all and loaded all the unscanned groceries back into the cart while I went home to grab my wallet. She safely put it behind customer service counter until I returned. Angie needs to be employee of the month. The older gentleman greeter at the front is always very welcoming as well. So is the tall lady at the west entrance that oversees self checkout. I have had good experiences here. Even left my bank card here once and it was locked away until I came to claim it.”

“The store is stocked with basic items. Candy isle, most prices 1.19 to 1.99. 2 liter sodas 2 for 4$. They sell beer and wine. Pastry products are 1.49 to 2.49$. The crew is really cool. They sell gas. Open 24 hours.”

“Today I went up there being my first time at this pharmacy and my doctor told me my prescription was going to be cheap and so when I went up there it was in fact not cheap and the nice lady her name was Lisa helped me out and offered me a coupon. “Had to go there today, and went into the garden department, The sweetest lady was there, and helped me , by explaining tome why my plants were dying and what would grow best here. She went out of her way, to explain things to me, She was so nice, TEN STARS OUT TO HER CUSTOMER SERVICE.”

“This location has the absolute best grocery pick-up team in the whole region. I've used several locations for massive orders to supply free cooking and nutrition classes for the community. Few have been successful. Justin and his team go above and beyond to ensure that the products are fresh and the orders are fulfilled even if that means running to several other locations to do so. In one instance, Justin hand delivered a few items to a class location across town after shift when he realized they were missed at pickup. Absolutely saved the day. Talk about top-notch customer service. His has been unmatched.

If you are trying to take some stress off your plate and want things done correctly with care, I highly recommend using this location at 4th and Milwaukee.”

“Nice to have a convenience store in the northwest corner of Lubbock, that is clean And reasonably priced. Getting a forgotten gallon of milk doesn't clean out the bank like other places. Nice people and well lit parking lot.”
