Selection was great and the pieces were well curated and perfect for a capsule wardrobe. If I lived locally, I’d be at this shop quite often. A must stop if you are in town.”
“A great spot to stop in and pick up some catamount gear, state stickers and even some local VT maple syrup store is usually pretty quiet and no one bothers you so take the time to walk through and definitely grab a few souvenirs! It’s also right on church street parking free on Sundays !”

I brought in a decade old jacket with a broken zipper, Jim identified the exact model immediately at a glance and had it fixed in 5 minutes. So nice to have repair service available locally.”
“A very nice store, clean friendly staff, its connected to vermont bear store and theres a different variety of things from shirts pants robes scarves blankets tote bags they do have some items currently 20% off but im not sure how long the sale will last. They are a bit on the pricey side around $80 for a flannel shirt but it is a very soft comfortable flannel shirt and it never is a bad thing to treat yourself to something nice sometimes. Its not a huge location but its easy to get to easy to shop in and with friendly helpful staff easy to like. I dont live in vermont but had to come here because I do love my flannel shirts and now I got 1 just from vermont. 🥰”

Although I didn't physically go to the store, she offered an incredibly high level of customer service and hospitality. FWIW - I first called and emailed their corporate CS, which was a terrible experience. Elle at Burlington Hatley took care of everything promptly and professionally - again, unlike their corporate CS. Highly recommend everyone seek out Elle! “Come for the curation, not for prices.
Like others have said, the prices are not comparable to other cheap thrift stores that run on donations. There's vendors who then probably pay the actual store, so a couple of layers of middlemen who eat into the price.
Older gap t-shirts are like $50. You're paying for curation, not for the actual value of the item. My boyfriend wanted to throw in all of the vendors only have about a rack and a half for men.
That being said: the designer selection is GENEROUS, and gorgeous. I've only come in 2x, but it's the immediate place I go and where I find the most value.
They have high quality designer pieces at prices that compete against many different online stores, and they clearly have them sectioned off instead of intermingled with everything else.
I would not personally purchase non-designer items here for myself, but it's obvious everyone puts in a lot of effort and care into the store.”
“Security Officer P.Audette Censor Security was very professional and very polite. I asked him where a trash can was and there was one conveniently in the vestibule. He had a smile and he greeted me on entry into the store and when I made my purchase he politely asked to do a bag check including my backpack and explained it was due to the rise in retail theft. I completely understood and let him check my bags. He said thank you and I left. Next day I came back to exchange a shirt and same reaction and result from him. Staff was amazing and I will definitely be back! Thank you Security Officer Audette. I wish you could be everywhere!!!”

“I have been coming to Bertha Church for many years and has been the place I go to get bras (and a re-fitting as I change). The owner knows her lines and stuff, she can grab a few options quickly and takes care of many women. When coming in, my advice is to know your needs, she is specific and dials in to what you want 100%. Also WAY better supporting/shopping local with her (quality and diversity of sizes/lines). Way better than going to a stinky smelling mass-retailer.”
