***1 year update!!! Your shoes don’t last a year. They sent me reminder emails that my shoes may be wearing out. I don’t run a lot so pushed my time. 9 months in and started to get ankle pain. Thought over doing it or getting old. Finally 1 year in decided to try new shoes. Again all above comments hold true. Asked about ankle pain and in a very diplomatic and polite way was told “duh, why do you think we send out all those reminders”. Or maybe she said yes, could be! Anyway, two runs in with new shoes and no pain. Great place! Thanks”

“I’ve been meaning to write a review for a minute. This is the best golf shop in the area, without question! Every time you come in here you’re greeted, conversed with, made to feel like you’re important. These guys are knowledgeable and helpful and are always willing to help. There’s never any pressure to buy anything, but you will! I just got back into golf after not touching a club for a few years and sure enough I’ve got a full set of Pings and Vokeys now and I’ve had these guys regrip them like 150 times while I try out every grip on the market 🤣🤣 but they do it with a smile and are always super helpful!

Bobby and his coaches at Grand Slam 2 have always done right by my family and by so many families we know. What separates them is that they care about the things other people often overlook: work ethic, confidence, discipline, fundamentals, and the personal growth of each kid who walks through the door.

The facility may not be the newest or flashiest, and yes, there have been air conditioning issues over the years, but in a strange way that is part of what makes the place special. Grand Slam 2 is not about looking pretty. It is about developing players, building toughness, and tempering metal into steel.

Bobby has helped hundreds, if not thousands, of kids over the years make school teams, travel teams, and continue playing at higher levels. A few names connected to his coaching and influence — David Wright, Michael Cuddyer, B.J. Upton, and Justin Upton, to name a few — went on to have successful MLB careers. That kind of track record speaks for itself.

On a personal level, Bobby and his staff helped my daughter get to a great Division III school, and he coached my son, who many other thought might be unteachable. That says everything you need to know about their patience, skill, and dedication.

He is not afraid to give it straight. He will tell it like it is. Even if that makes you uncomfortable. He wants you to be better and no one ever got better by telling they were good at something when they weren't.

“I called over the weekend looking for assistance in locating a specific pair of sunglasses. I spoke with Jenah and she informed me that the Greenbrier location did not have them. However, she took my name and number and said she’d call around to the other stores to see if she could find them at another one of the locations. In a typical situation like this, I honestly wouldn’t expect to ever receive that follow up call. But boy did Jenah come through! Not only did she find them at another location, but she coordinated picking them up and bringing them to Greenbrier, which is much closer to us.
We went in this morning and lo and behold, they were there and sat aside for us!
I couldn’t be any more impressed with the level of customer service provided. I hope this review reaches management because Jenah deserves all the praise and recognition for her stellar service.

“I came in for an exchange on a pair a green and crème Jordan’s from the lynnhaven store, size 1.5. I just want to say that the staff was warm and friendly from the time my sons and I walked in the store, they asked how I was doings there was a man with locs, a few grays in the locs who made sure to not only speak to myself but my kids. Asked how our day was going . There was a bit of a chase to find my shoe but in the midst of it they were all reassuring. There was a really tall guy, I’m short (4’11) and he heard one girl say that she rejected my order and just reminded her to watch what she says in front of customers , he noticed my body language or facial expression and mentioned that I didn’t look the happiest in the moment , which I didn’t , buttttt even with trying to find the store they were all calm, respectful, active and nice. Kudos to the staff at this store, they have spirits that are welcoming and I love that .”

“For almost 25 years I have been a loyal customer of Dick’s Sporting Goods, and for the majority of that time one employee that I remember has consistently stood out as the gold standard for customer service, Rex L. Over the decades I have purchased an incredible variety of sporting goods at Dick’s: equipment for baseball, football, basketball, lacrosse, tennis, golf, and now pickleball; also countless balls, bats, clubs, and rackets; clothing and shoes; lawn, pool and beach stuff; camping gear, tents, coolers, sleeping bags; and even kayaks and paddles. I have also volunteered and organized many charity golf tournaments over the years and spent thousands of dollars at Dick’s on golf balls and prizes. But what truly makes my experience special at Dicks is Rex. When our girl/boy twins were born 24 years ago, Rex helped us begin a tradition that has lasted for their entire lifetime. Starting with their very first bikes with training wheels, and continuing through several upgrades as they grew, Rex personally helped us select and serviced every bike we purchased for my 2 children, plus one for my wife. He worked with us back when he was at the Dicks Lynnhaven Mall store, as well as the Town Center location, and he has literally watched our twins grow up through those bike purchases. Today, they are still riding their Dicks Nishiki Tamarack bikes that Rex helped us choose when they were teenagers. Most recently, I tracked Rex down again, this time at the Battlefield Boulevard Dick’s house of sport in Chesapeake because my beloved 40 year old GT Slipstream bike needed repair. True to form, Rex found the exact part required and got my sleek and classic bike back in tip top shape. That level of dedication over a long period of time and commitment to customer service is incredibly rare. In an age when many people buy online and receive no customer service, Rex represents the very best of what local retail can be. His expertise in bikes, his willingness to help, and the genuine relationships he builds with customers are truly exceptional. If anyone is considering purchasing a bike from a child’s first one to a more serious bike, my advice is simple: go see Rex at Dick’s! His experience, knowledge, and customer care are unmatched.
