“this store is so cute!! the staff was really friendly and helped me find a good book. there are little cards all over with staff reviews of the books, making it easy to find something. i was able to bring my dog in too which is awesome :)”

“a neat little store tucked away in a small shopping center. Man, did they have a lot of good stuff. I was tempted to buy a blind bag for the first time in I-can’t-remember-how-long, and was rewarded a juicy collection of five early ‘90s titles and a dopamine hit that carried me through the next week. Even ghostly Madame Compulsionne trailed her ruby nails through my hair and temptingly whispered, “Maybe collect the whole run?”
Oof. Yes. I resisted, but I was surprised to feel that old, familiar tug. I even posted a “haul” post to social media.

“A super cute, small book and record store with a combination of new and used books that is in an inauspicious basement level shop in The Fan neighborhood. Their used books are priced super fairly (mostly $4-6, up to $10) and it’s in an area where parking isn’t difficult at all. They buy used books, and the shelves are a mixture of new and used that are divided by genre rather than price/new or used status. It’s also within walking distance of Abi’s Books & Brews, if you want to check out both while in the area!”
“A nice alternative to Barnes and Noble. When I first moved up here (pre covid) they seemed kinda expensive, but for what I buy their prices haven't gone up since, so now compared to the rest of the world they are affordable. Staff have been nice every time I've gone in. Their location changed, which I'm sure is confusing some folks because the old building still has the name up, so I've attached a picture of the front of the new building.”

“I have been buying books from this shop for twenty years. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The stock cannot be beaten in Americana, Literature, and History and this is an excellent place to find an uncommon book for a gift. The owner and his wife are exceptional people, who hosted me by appointment for a few hours. They offered to have me stay as long as I wanted until closing. They are now appointment only, due to the pandemic and their new location, as many similar booksellers have become. This should not be a deterrent! It is certainly worth arranging a trip!”
“Been here a few times, great selection of books/tarot/stones. They let me try on poison rings to try to decide what exactly I liked. The apothecary side is also really neat.
They have a bunch of fairly priced incense and beautiful holders.
Lastly, the shop shares a large parking lot with Elwood Thompson which is great for people who are scared of parallel parking… maybe speaking from experience.”
“Pretty good campus bookstore, I like hanging out in their cafe more than the library because it's usually more empty. However I'm usually not there long because of the time it closes. Very good book selection even though it's only about a 3rd of the store or less ? it's mostly clothes”

“The Gleneagles location is not as cozy and funky as the old Book People on Granite. On the other hand, the shop is a lot better organized,larger, and neater. There are still a mix of old and new titles and the staff continue the tradition of high touch service. The shelves are tidy and organized by genre. Staff are very helpful and knowledgeable and will help get you in touch with the exact book that you want. Do not hesitate to ask them to order what they don't have in the store. Particularly impressive is the extensive event programming, bringing in a variety of authors, critics, and commentators for lively discussions. The store is a strong advocate for the right to read and is protective of the wide variety of people in our community. I just wish they had relocated closer to the original shop to make it easier for me to visit more frequently.”
