It's such a cozy space with so, so much product. The staff's friendly and helpful without making you feel pressured to make a purchase. They're really up to date with their stock, and I'm grateful that they were upfront with some of the book sleeves being messed up from a rough transport (frankly, they've got high expectations because the sleeves were barely imperfect). It's definitely a must-visit for whenever I'm back in town, especially given its picturesque location!”
“This location was a staple of my childhood, I wish they’d bring back all the random comfy chairs throughout each section, in fact have more than before now that there is no CD section to sit down & listen to CD promos lol. Bringing back the chairs would make this 5 star and add immensely to the atmosphere”

“I have been buying books from this shop for twenty years. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The stock cannot be beaten in Americana, Literature, and History and this is an excellent place to find an uncommon book for a gift. The owner and his wife are exceptional people, who hosted me by appointment for a few hours. They offered to have me stay as long as I wanted until closing. They are now appointment only, due to the pandemic and their new location, as many similar booksellers have become. This should not be a deterrent! It is certainly worth arranging a trip!”
“One of my favorite bookstores in Richmond, VA. Located in Carytown. This bookstore is two stories. They buy used books and even have a store cat! I Had lunch and drinks here Sunday, then walked over to see what new reads were in stock. I lucked up and found a book on my Amazon wishlist! A Review is coming soon”
“A nice alternative to Barnes and Noble. When I first moved up here (pre covid) they seemed kinda expensive, but for what I buy their prices haven't gone up since, so now compared to the rest of the world they are affordable. Staff have been nice every time I've gone in. Their location changed, which I'm sure is confusing some folks because the old building still has the name up, so I've attached a picture of the front of the new building.”
“Looking for some esoteric fun...? The Aquarian Bookshop is hands down one of my FAVORITE places in rva. You can find crystals, tarot, plethora incense (all the high quality ones) sage and other cleansing materials and yes, books. Mainly related to the afore mentioned. A wonderful thing is that they have events! I have been to multiple including a healing sound bath and if this interests you-- check it out! The atmosphere is (9/10) amzzzzzzinng and zen. I say 9/10 bc occasionally you'll get sketchy vibe ppl just coming in to poke fun or be silly and that's not wonderful but honestly in 14+ years that's only happened twice. It is my happy place. The staff are amazing always looking to help with questions and very Knowledgeable without being condescending. Anything and everything I have purchased over the years from here is high quality and I have no complaints what so ever. Stop in but please be respectful to those of us who find peace and happiness in this place. Highly recommended”

“Small and cozy with a wide variety of new and used books. Their horror section curation is 10/10. And their store logo includes a precious puppo - what more could you want?”
“I hadn't been there in a bit. I was Happy to actually look at the book before I bought it. Had a Starbucks to peruse the choices I made in the cafe. It was very nice to be able to do that. Good selection, games, gifts, calnedsars, and cards. I'll try to go there more often. (I remember going there on dates... I'm a low maintenance date) It was also that rare 75-degree day in January w a beautiful sunset to boot.”
“They seem to have had a good variety of calendars toys those type of things I was disappointed that they did not have very much in The Nightmare Before Christmas line”

9004 W Broad St, Richmond“Fantastic and huge bookstore! Great place if you're looking to browse many titles, and see some cool deals. I loved the 4 for $10 table in the back, and picked up a couple big authors (Carl Hiassen, recommend to all my satire and mystery lovers), as well as some fun new titles. The DVDs were great as well. I did notice that used books of high quality were priced at the same level as new copies (used and largely undamaged were just priced at sticker), so be sure to thoroughly check something before you buy. Great and fun stop with friendly people. Will be going back!”
“Pretty good campus bookstore, I like hanging out in their cafe more than the library because it's usually more empty. However I'm usually not there long because of the time it closes. Very good book selection even though it's only about a 3rd of the store or less ? it's mostly clothes”

720 W Grace St, Richmond“Mr. Clark Albright, you made no purchase, harassed staff and customers, and interrupted private business feeling self-entitled. I hope charges are brought against you by BookHolders for your aggressive behavior for trespassing and harassment. Shop online so no one ever has to deal with you personally again.”
“Such a beautiful shop. The energy was so clean. The proprietor was super helpful and I could tell he cared about what I was asking his advice on. I am going to make this place a regular stop when I am in the area.”
