“We were stranded on the side of the road with our travel trailer in tow. Our truck had overheated. We were towed by Tucker's towing, awesome service, to Whelan's. They were very accommodating. We were allowed to park our camper in their lot. They fixed our truck the next morning. And we were very happy with them. Very easy to deal with.Would definitely use them again if necessary, and highly recommend.”

“I needed gas, so I just stopped at Valero’s. The lights were off at the pumps, so I doubted that they were open. The pumps were, so I had to pump gas in the dark. Pump 8 did not give me a receipt. The parking lot, pumps and other facilities need some TLC and updating. Nevertheless, it is good to have a “Top Gear” station in the ara other than Shell (competition is good).”

“The lot itself is like any other gas station, may be smelly in certain areas where the dogs relieve themselves, but upon entering, you can smell and see the cleanliness. The bathrooms were clean and there's a nice variety of Mexican bakery pastries and delicious drink varieties. The staff greets your with a smile.”

“I love Chubbys. Every man should. But let's talk about gas stations instead. In these parts, this is known as the gas station of gas stations. Well it's not really but it should be. I mean who doesn't want to go fill up at a place named Chubby's? I certainly did on my last trip across the Virginia. I didn't realize there are a bunch of these things (there are a bunch of Chubbys in America... who knew... ahem). What an awesome name. Medium price gas which is usually pretty cheap in this area.”

“Usually good gas prices. Right off the interstate. Very clean and has a very friendly helpful employee named Guy. They have discounts on cigarettes. Clean restroom for patrons. Great truck stop for truckers. Exxon has a built in KFC. I highly recommend this gas station.”

“We stopped here passing through driving from Fort Lauderdale to Bangor Maine. Road weary, cold/tired & just over it…..of all the countless stops made for gas or snacks or bathroom or just to walk around and stretch legs, Barbara the cashier/attendant put a smile on my face. Single handedley reminded me that life is too short to wallow in negativity or self pity. Sometimes it takes a complete stranger to make us remember and realize to be thankful for what we have. Everyday above ground is a good day….thx Barb!”

It was originally named Wawa Food Markets and started as a dairy farm in Wawa, Pennsylvania, in 1803. The company evolved over the years and opened its first convenience store in 1964 in Folsom, Pennsylvania. It has grown in popularity and location and as of January 2022, there were over 900 Wawa stores across the United States, primarily concentrated in the Mid-Atlantic states. This is one of the many sites of this store in Petersburg, Va. Depending on which exit you take off the interstate this is either very close to i-95 or several miles. The Wagner Road exit is much closer. Like most stores of this chain, it has parking right in front of the stores and lining the lot near the street. There is a set of gas pumps and the store has restrooms, hoagies, coffee, and quick bites. The store has a convenient self-service touchscreen ordering system for hoagies allows for customization to your heart's content. The coffee selection is good, catering to different tastes. Outside and inside the store was clean, including the restrooms.The layout is well-organized, making it easy to find what you need quickly. The staff is generally friendly and efficient, contributing to a positive customer experience. Overall, I had a very good experience and, with the exception of taking the wrong exit to arrive here, would recommend this stop for fellow travelers.”

When I tried Jim Whelan's Service Center, not only did I appreciate their work, I appreciated their hospitality and honesty. I have been using Jim Whelan's for about a year now and I can honestly say they are the Service Center which sets the example for others to follow. They are always motivated and provide excellent service. I highly recommend this location for your vehicle maintenance needs.
